I haven't seen one concrete piece of evidence that suggests we aren't in Neal's top 2. Until I see that I think we have better than average chance to land him considering Ohio State might have trouble fitting him into the class. And if we do get someone like Poole on NSD, along with Neal, this class will be beyond awesome

What makes you think, Urbie wouldn't make room for this talent? He's already pitched Neal, with the idea, he's going to be the next Percy Harvin.

He definitely could. I just think it's a factor that helps us. I'm sure Kelly has pitched to Neal that he can be the next Golden Tate.

How? Tate was coached by a different coach and in a different offense.

They have very similar skill sets. I don't see a problem with general comparisons. It's not like Neal is going to be like what is Coach Kelly talking about, Golden played for a different coach. My point is essentially that telling Neal he can "be" Percy Harvin isn't that strong a factor.

Percy can flash his two championship rings, who was the most dynamic player on the field and that's including St. Tebow. Yes, Golden was awesome but he was on teams' fighting for a Sheraton Hawaii Bowl bid. Percy>Golden every time.

Mike Farrell @rivalsmike
Stefon Diggs was digging that Urban Meyer said he would be used like Percy Harvin at #OhioState.

Apparently anyone can be Percy Harvin. At least if Urban is recruiting you

I'm happy to have Goodman back. Also happy to have Golic back. Wish we had Cwynar coming back.

The 2 to 3 guys beyond Golic coming back versus taking new recruits makes me sad.

I don't see anything good in bringing Goodman back. I rather throw the younger players into the fire than him taking up valuable game experience in a season with modest expectations.

This is going to be good...

He's entitled to an opinion. The problem with his opinion is that:

1. We aren't going to use all of our slots.
2. We are dangerously thin with "week 1 starters" at WR without Goodman... so it makes perfect sense to bring him back even if Greenberry or someone else likely passes him up midway through the year.

I'm pretty darn sure TJ Jones moves inside to start next year (Toma IS NOT an every down player) and you see DaVaris Daniels as one starter with Goodman as the other... slowly being passed up by Greenberry or someone else as the year goes on.

Case in point, that it is an effective sales pitch.

Yes "anyone" if you're a athlete prospect of a Diggs, Neal, Harvin, Tate, etc. stature. And Jeff Demps wasn't too bad as the poor man's Percy Harvin.

I hope it works. Can't see Neal going to OSU if thy have both Diggs and Reeves.

It appears Ohio State took 25 players last year (can't tell if they had any non-qualifiers) with only 1 EE (this may be wrong; OSU fans here please correct my math if it is) meaning they used up 24 of 25 spots. They took 6 EEs this year it seems and can count one towards last year meaning they have now used 23 of 25 scholarship available right now assuming no decommits/non-qualifiers from their current haul. What does this mean?

They can only take 2 more kids this year barring non-qualifiers/cutting players they have as verbal commits/"grey shirting" guys they've promised a scholarship too... so who's on their board besides Diggs? If we can get them to take 2 more guys or so before NSD it seems they won't have room for Neal... at which point we'd just need to beat out Arizona who sadly has his coach on staff... which is tough, but doable.

Lax, do you think Daniel Smith might play a factor this year?

The way this class has finished reminds me of Weis' classes. They have come up short at different positions and missed on a number of good players. 4 combined OL and DL in a class is not good enough. It's similar to Weis bringing in 1 DL in 09. They also needed one more LB and CB. The losses really hurt them in recruiting.

I have no idea. A lot of people like him a lot. I've never seen it, but it's not like I watch practices. He's a big WR and there's a lot to like there but if I were a betting man I wouldn't expect him to hold off the talent we're bringing in this year for very long.

lol....not a shot on him personally, but he has some growing up to do. Columbus might not be the best place for that

I don't agree with that. I think Kelly is finally getting some balance back for both sides of the ball. Weis really screwed the pouch by not getting more cb's and DL men. BK is just starting to get some depth at all positions. Plus with next years lack of available schoolies I don't mind if we end up acouple short this year. We will have a lot of new blood this year with all the red shirts we had last year.

Charlie's problem is he tries to be like belichick and think all he needed was offensive guys and no defense.

Neither, just a big college football fan but bigger Notre Dame fan. No need in giving me more of a red rating just because I'm stating my educated opinion that might differ from yours. I see no need in getting a message approved, by a few around here, to go ahead and post it. My opinion can't be any more vulgar than the pics that float on here on occasions.

Not an OSU fan by any stretch, but the article which quoted Archie Griffin indicated a number of players from 2011 could count as 2010, plus there were a couple of DNQ's if I recall. I think that OSU can move all 6 EE's from this class to 2011. They are still up against the 82 limit though. Hope this post isn't deleted like the last one on this topic (still not sure why it was)
