Kinda OT but does anybody else notice the passion level with these young players seem higher than what ND has had lately?

I know what you are saying and it goes along with what Kelly has been saying. Players felt too entitled before he got here and that needed changed. Biggest difference between the two regimes.

I also think that coaches' personal styles dictate a lot of whether the guys feel liberated enough to act naturally and with fun. Some coaches say "have fun" but in fact intimidate the guys so that they feel restricted. I think that the guys know that Kelly is REAL serious about playing technique football, but any coach who immediately dons a sombrero and dances in front of cameras has to be projecting natural enthusiasm for having some fun in life.

I think with Facebook and Twitter kids are changing. So, in the past we may have had kids that would have been like these, but with these two media areas things have changed.

But, there is a little change in the philosophy at ND---and it is a good thing. Work hard, play hard, be productive and you will play no matter what age. And this is kinda new, so things are changing.

I think it is perfect storm of events.

But, if you get your leaders on your sports teams being passionate--good things happen. Look at Skylar! And I think it is happening on our Defense. Manti is more vocal now, Nix, Tuitt, and Lynch are all showing stuff!

I think Wood has that ability. And Jonas was showing it. DD has swaggar, and I think Eifert will take a lot of that this year.

So many good signs in my opinion.

Produce?? He redshirted. And did a great job I hear.

How did Nix play after redshirting?

Wood--1073 all purpose yards after his redshirt.

Sorry, I want kids with heart/passion/swaggar etc. DD has it, Tuitt, Lynch, GAII, etc. I love it. You may not, I do.

I think (could be wrong moose, if so forgive me for my over-step) that kmoose is of the school that a program with our recent history needs to win a big game anywhere in the last decade before current players start talking about how good they are...

at least that's the impression I get...

I agree with both of you depending on the mood to be totally honest... I want kids that think they can beat anyone, but I also want kids that actually do it once in a while.

You would be correct. You have to earn the right to swagger. I'd like this team to think that they can, and will, beat anyone. But I don't want false bravado. I want them to understand that, while they CAN do it, it takes an incredible amount of work, focus, and execution, to beat anyone. They can't just walk out onto the field and expect to win, if they haven't prepared properly. My apologies, Olympia, if I'm completely misinterpreting your idea of swagger. When you younger guys talk about swagger, I envision a bunch of trash talking, over confidence, and a focus on "me". I want guys to come in, look and act serious, and play to win.

DD is a perfect example, I guess. How has redshirting earned him the right to have any swagger? If he wasn't good enough to see the field, then he's not good enough to walk around with any swagger.

I want kids with a little **** n vinegar. I am not talking about trash talking and what not, but I want them coming in here and have fun, be intense, work hard, and be passionate! If you are good, act like you are good (example Lynch). If you are quiet come in and let your hard work and learning speak for itself (example Ishaq) Or the mixture of both (example Tuitt). I want them coming in and acting like they can be impactful.

I love how Tee is. And Deontay. I love it. Bring on the swaggar and the feeling that ND will rise to the level it once was!

Said that he will post a video of himself doing the cinnamon challenge. For those who don't know what that is, watch this.

Note, when a player or recruit is in the chat, don't constantly bombard them with football questions. They're more than just football players.

Shows how weird I am.. If I had a chance to ask Stephon a few questions. Most of mine would be about carpet dancing, cinnamon challenges and his thoughts on Nix doing a cover of "baby got back".

I doubt I would ever even get to football...

with all due respect, you're the guy that came into the chat saying

"I heard stephon was in here!" or something like that.

First off, that was a question mark, I think, and it was followed by a "lol". lol

Haha it's all good. Only reason I remembered it was because you have the same name here and there. He signed off immediately after I asked a football question fwiw
