I know BK had wanted to avoid doing this, but you gotta play the game and I think he realizes this. The misconception out there is that Notre Dame doesn't care and won't fight for itself - I had to listen to Mike Greenberg go off on this for a whole morning on Mike and Mike last week.

I like the points he brings up. There hasn't been one week that we've taken off and I love that he hammers home that the hallmark of championship teams is defense, of which ND has one of the best in the country.

Now, if only BK would push on the gas during games to try and pass this mythical "eye test" that all the press pundits love to vomit about after every game. Even if I think it's stupid and our record and schedule should speak for itself.

We should absolutely shame those teams for playing FCS foes. We don't get a week off with a guaranteed win during our season. We plays teams that can beat us and take their best shot every single week.

But that is probably impolitic, so he is probably handling it correctly. If there is any justice in the world either K-State or Oregon will lose. There is no way anybody can convince me that K-State is better than we are. A game against Oregon would be interesting.

No FCS opponents. Only non-FBS teams are both independents. Neither Oregon or Kansas State coming even close to that.
#1 D vs. #14 and #30.
Quality wins against #12 #13 #21... versus #18 and #25 for Oregon, #12 and #24 for Kansas State.

Why does the SEC get credit for defense but we don't? Why is SOS not brought up at all? Why is a defensive comparison not ever made between the teams? Why is margin of victory in our close games brought up but not the fact that we beat Oklahoma FAR worse than Kansas State did?

This is just an utter travesty. I haven't been running my mouth at all this season... no campaigning for ND whatsoever. It is now everyone's responsibility to make the facts known and blast anyone who chooses to ignore them. Our resume is indisputably better than either of the other undefeateds.

I told y'all this was going to happen. For better or worse, this is how teams get into the game. Tressel had to do it, as did Urban. Kelly is a former politician and understands his role in this.

We have an extremely powerful PR machine at ND. It has over two weeks to turn the whispers into screams. You are already hearing commentators about face on this. We have to worry about taking care of Wake and USC, if we do that, then we will get into the game.

Really can't say this enough. We as fans have to do all we can to campaign for our team. I know it might seem stupid to say that, but if the media isn't going to fight for us we need to it ourselves.

I don't think I've ever been more upset about anything relating to sports ever.

There is no argument to have Kansas State ahead of ND. Non whatsoever. If I have to watch them vs Oregon in the championship....It would be the saddest day of my sports following life.

With the amount of press ND gets, Kelly doesn't have to politick openly. These questions are going to be asked from now until the end of the season and as long as he has the appropriate answers (haha-logic based) he may sway some votes. I just don't think it's going to work. I'm not seeing any 180s in the media, ESPN on the BCS rankings only stated the computers love ND.

Best chance-one of the teams above ND loses. Now that can happen.

You're joking right? Look at the log jam for position #4. What happens if FSU wins out and there is a one loss SEC team (Bama or UGA)? What would happen to a 1 loss ND team?

The playoff will help ensure that it isn't a beauty contest. But, it will actually increase the dialogue and politicking about who gets in and who doesn't.

I'm glad BK is on this. But expect to see all three head coaches on ESPN alot over the next few weeks.

Oregon faces the best defense they have seen all season. It is not even close, Stanford is far and away the best defense they will have seen. Plus they will grind it out on the ground to limit possessions. I loved A&M over Bama for a number of reasons, and Stanford shows a lot of those same qualities. That is exactly what happened in the PC. Kelly won't campaign until we finish the regular season. However, that is 100% likely to be the first question from most reporters so he still has the opportunity to make the case (which he does effectively).
