Looks like he's coming out with guns blazing. Curious to see how the stock market responds with all of that spending he's going to do.

I'm hoping he gets caught up in the "aww shucks" interviews about his dog and his wife and never really works that hard. Because his policies are largely terrible.

American United is his theme. Lol what joke. Glad to say I won’t be visiting this tread anymore. And that’s all I will say.

To be fair this thread probably will not last as long as the Trump thread. The Kamala Harris Presidency thread will be created in short time.

I'm on board with all those things. Keeps small business running. Tough challenges for sure.

We have signed up for everything offered for small business. We received 8,000 for PPP. To pay 7 employees for two months and to “cover” $4500 rent payments for a few months. 🤷🏻*♂️

We then received a grant approval for $20,000 only to be given $1,700.

We were denied a $20,000 state grant which was said to based on first come first served basis. We signed up the first hour the grant went live. We were then told it was going to be based on need with preference given to restaurant / hospitality. We got $0.

We operate a Sporting Goods store in a state that has outlawed sports since March 2020. Getting deeper in the red by the day. Our “grants” are in the hands of our Democratic led Gov and city.

There was an article just ran that a local business just received $20,000 that has just got into business during the pandemic. One of the qualifications is to show a loss from last year. An article was later written that one of the owners of that place was also involved in a huge misappropriation of funds from the city involving millions of dollars.

There are tons of us small business owners looking for answers. Shoveling more money to “small business” just literally means they are sending money to states to do whatever they want with it.

That sucks man. I can’t imagine the stress. I saw some private entities raising money for small businesses. Don’t know if it’s still an option but may be worth looking into. I know one of the entities was Bar Stool Sports run by Dave Portnoy. His group awarded some money to a local dry cleaner here and saved him from going under. I have no idea how they chose where to award donation but was impressed how he found one in my small state. Godspeed

Weird that you think trying to bring the country together is a "joke."

Biden is going to church today with the leaders of both parties -- McConnel, McCarthy, Schumer, Pelosi. He is having routine calls with McConnel to see if there are any bipartisan bills they can pass to help all Americans during the pandemic. The fact that you have a problem with that says a lot.

We have contacted Barstool and many other grant Avenues. So many hands to feed.

One of the big problems we have is when people, even local/state/federal gov thinks “small business” most think restaurants/hospitality. There is a local restaurant owner that says profits are down maybe 25% but overhead is way down. So they have received over $60,000 in grants because every grant application will say in bold letters they are prioritizing that industry. My argument has always been that locally they have never restricted people from eating. They can take out or even patio dining. But the state has entirely shut down my whole industry. Our restrictions have been really backward. For awhile non essential had to close but there was a clause stating any big box could be open at 25%. Meaning our competition could be open... but not us. It’s been really backward.

It's only a joke because they don't give a crap about unity. The party is still looking to drive the boot on the neck on the losing side. After four years of fake allegations, hysteria, nasty rhetoric, and resistance at all costs- the calls for unity are laughable. He didn't run on a unity platform and wouldn't know it if it bit him in the ass.

I'm sure the media that is rejoicing in their upcoming four-year vacation will do what they can to paint it as unity.

Obviously trying to find a few areas where the powers that be can agree is good.

There's one party that doesn't give a crap abut America or unity, and that's the Trump Party. Unapologetically lying about a stolen election for months and while trying to steal it himself with bogus court cases and asking Pence to violate the Constitution. Refusing to concede. Refusing to meet with Biden. Refusing to allow the transition to proceed normally. Melania Trump will be the only first lady in decades not to meet with Jill Biden and give her a tour of the residence.

Spewing bile and hate and lies for 4+ years, and refusing to lose with a shred of dignity. That's Trump's legacy. He got banned from Twitter and election misinformation went down by three quarters... the only thing he was good at was propaganda.

He absolutely ran on a platform of bringing the country together. In fact, unity and healing was the central message of his campaign. He got repeatedly attacked during the primary for being a centrist and too far to the right... only to have a bunch of mouth breathers on Fox News and OAN to call him a "socialist" despite there being literally no socialism in his economic policy platform. A bunch of QAnon freaks who think that Democrats are literal Satan worshipping pedophiles and other sheep make up the 30% of the country that still approves of Trump. Everyone else sees the corruption and utter mess he is leaving for Biden, and that Biden is earnestly trying to bring people together.

He didn't run a unity campaign, he ran the most progressive campaign in modern history and doesn't speak outside of his divisive rhetoric. Even after the stupid Capitol riots, he defaulted to divisiveness. His agenda is far from the mainstream while he pandered to the truly radical wing of the party that wanted ultra-left.

We're four years removed from an attempted hijacking of the electoral college. I'm glad the Obama's took a break from spying on the campaign and undermining the incoming administration with Logan Act accusations to offer a tour.

Biden will spend zero hours trying to get out of Trump's stupid wars and trying to recover the economy. His panic appears to be how to shutdown pipelines, toss more money overseas in the name of climate change, and how to get more relief out after his party held it hostage until the ballots were counted.

It's that leftist elitist attitude that is driving your party and big tech to suppress dissenting voices and try to shove everyone who disagrees "mouthbreathers" off every normal platform in this country and an agenda of divisive ideas that will ensure unity doesn't happen. However, I fully expect everyone who doesn't embrace this administration to be labeled a white supremacist for not falling in line before long.

Now we will expect a unifying tone from a party that did this shit for four years:

I dont think Biden is really going to do any substantive uniting, I don't think it'll be his fault. I'm sure he'd love to be the guy who fixed a country that is breaking apart, but it takes much more than one guy to do that.

I don't think it's possible to unify the country. Well, it is, but it won't happen. We can't agree to anything and have different values and goals. The country doesn't want the same thing. Our government is entirely too powerful and too large. It's a winner take all system and the Dems are letting everyone know right now that they won and are going to ram it down our throats soon.

America needs a divorce. America loves divorce. We do it all the time.We celebrate it in the tabloids and practice it routinely. States should be able to have greater control over how people live in their states and take back control from the federal government. Then we could move where we want and live under a similar but different set of laws and principles. For example, I moved in 2019 because I needed to find a new job as my old location shut down. I only considered red states because I didn't want a D governor restricting my 2A rights and overtaxing me. Looking at the population trends of NY, IL, and CA- I don't think I am alone in this thinking.

I think it's long past time that this country either return power to the states or go it's separate ways. The power swamp in DC isn't going to give it back, so we need to just do it. These elections shouldn't be so important to how we live. When CalExit was discussed four years ago- I supported it. Texas Secession? Go for it. I see Wyoming legislators discussing it now? I could live in Wyoming for sure!

Our people are drifting further and further apart and it just feels like we're waiting for the kids to leave for college. We're delaying the inevitable with sanctuary states and the pendulum of power. Give people who think Trump is literally Hitler a path to the Republic of California and let those of us who don't want Joe Biden's failures dumped on us a ticket to Wyoming or Texas.

Biden could bring up some prior bills that came out of committee with bipartisan support on issues that were blocked from a vote - immigration, health care protection for those with chronic diseases, etc - as well as some immediate issue ones like the recent domestic terrorism one. That would probably swiftly move through Congress after the insurrection.
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/56613

I don't think Biden will govern with Executive Orders that get around legislation, block testimony by his Admin officials before Congress, fire Inspector Generals, move appropriations from one department to another, declare emergencies, shutdown the government, have the Justice Department join states' lawsuits, or have his properties/businesses benefit from federal expenditures.

How he gets Russia back to the nuclear disarmament treaty, Iran back to their nuclear deal or gets a Pacific trade agreement without China will be difficult. I doubt he steps into North Korea or looks on Kim as a good friend.

I am looking forward to a President who smiles and isn't drawing attention to himself all the time.

So he's going to not do anything that recent presidents have done extensively, including the guy he served as VP for?

Yeah sorry, I'm just not buying that.

Look, we can agree! Of course, I'm looking for one of those in 2024, but close enough!

Different but the same. I have a lot of friends/former classmates that swing left. A lot of them are entrenched in the BLM movement as well as other black empowerment groups. I have went down that rabbit hole myself on social media and a lot of these groups are pushing for self governance and "divorcing" the current system. These guys scream white nationalism when they think they see it and call it out but this is essentially black nationalism. I know, totally different but sort of the same in regards to relations and division.

EDIT: ADDED link to some of this.

It is 100% impossible for people like me and people like this to be happy in the same system. Why are we forcing this?

I guess I don't get what you are trying to say with the meme? I get the meme itself, but I am lost in your responding with it.

It's an overly simplified and dishonest rebuttal to mock those who criticized the terror and destruction in our cities for the past several months as they could only do so because they must be racist.

I would like to understand where these brave people fall on the meme test?

Because your post had a reference to Black Supremacy (?).

The larger point is that often excuses or justifications are made for the MAGA folk that they are "forgotten people, suffer from economic anxiety, and misunderstood". Which is pretty true and I agree they should have a much larger voice and targeted help.

It's just that when it comes to people of colour the same types of tropes are trotted out "What about black on black crime? Where are the fathers? They just don't want to be successful, why are they always looking for handouts? They're equal under the law so what more could they want?"
