The 2020 election is essentially over. There are still some races and states not officially called, but Joe Biden appears to have more than enough electoral votes to become our next president.

I think the biggest challenge for Biden will be repairing the institution of the government. The State Department, Justice Department, EPA, and even the post office have been broken just to name the ones that immediately come to mind. Fixing them is going to be a big job.

Agreed. A staggering amount of damage has been done to those institutions during the past four years. I don’t know that it can be repair quickly.

Last night Biden made the following comments:

All politicians say such things upon election. I hope for our nation's sake that he's sincere and puts genuine effort into healing some of the divides and anger and hatred in our nation.

Joe Biden is the next President Elect. The country will be better off for the next 4 years opposed to the alternative.

I can't find any examples where a recount overturned more than a few hundred votes.

It's sad that Donald is playing the card that he is. He will still stir up the far right but those types are usually pretty set in their ways and are who they are.

A lot of work ahead but the country can navigate through the pandemic while keeping the economy thriving. It's pretty simple on how it will improve.
Face masks indoors and social distancing.
It's not the shut down/socialism and "we won't have a country" that Donald made it out to be.

Time to turn the page.

I'm not optimistic.

We may be better off than with Trump, hard not to be, but I'm also not naive and thinking many of these problems just suddenly materialized under Trump. They in fact, have been institutional problems for years.

They were a problem under Obama, Bush, Clinton. The executive overreach is something every president has helped foster and grow. I think Biden will exploit it less domestically, but I'm very skeptical he'll do the same from a foreign perspective. I want to believe that Biden will be the one to do an about face and eliminate a lot of that overreach and perhaps create some sort of bridge between the bipartisan, but given his past, I don't see that happening, nor do I think he has the energy or demeanor to inspire such a bridging.

I wish Trump would just fade into obscurity and the radical followers would just play ball. But I don't see that happening and to be fair, there are very few on the left that are in any position to complain about that. We're seeing a lot from the right that we saw from the left 4 years ago.

With time, I hope we purge the Trumpisms from the political structure, but this country has far more issues that predate him and will possibly get worse after his leave.

Hoping for the best, but not counting on it.

Problem is the two sides really can’t work together and compromise. There are so many partisan outlets that won’t allow it. I remember people here is Tennessee getting mad when Senator Corker played golf with Obama, calling him a RINO. People want their politicians to battle the “enemy”. If they don’t, they’re sellouts. Doubt it gets any better under Biden.

There isn't anything the Feds are going to be able to do on the virus stuff beyond vaccines. People are going to need to accept that and move on.

Dems will play martyr and invoke the 25th amendment heading into midterms, anointing Kamala in a move that will backfire into an enormous red wave. There is absolutely nothing wrong with suing states. That's not spitting on anything.

The whole "ermagerrrd post office!" was one of the bigger jokes of the summer. That was Jade Helm level tinfoil hat nonsense.

He has handled the entire post-election time very poorly and there isn't much good to say about that, but methinks you are being a bit silly with how you've framed it. The dude says and does many dumb things, I have yet to figure out why people attribute fake stuff (the post office) or normal behavior (filing lawsuits) as Orange Mam Bad moments.

I am pretty sure he's toast, but litigation in a series of tightly contested states is hardly unexpected and I wouldnt hold it against Biden, Hillary, Bush, Gore, etc in wanting that resolved.

To be fair, my friend, she did kickstart her political career by having an affair at the age of 29 with former San Francisco Mayor and State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown who was 60 and a major political power broker in Cali at the time. He then appointed her to a position or two in Cali politics and helped get her political career going.
