A lot of conversation about something, that in my opion is a slim chance happening, that being, ND going 10-2 and even being in the BCS discussion. Standford, at the farm will be a long shot for a win and with the injuries now, Im nerovus about Pitt and especially BYU.

I pray we can wrap up a 10-2 season....

If Notre Dame beats Stanford and wins out, they will be in a BCS bowl. A 10-2 Irish team that went undefeated in October and November should be in. If not we'll kill a team in a lesser bowl and will be better next year.

If we end up going 10-2 after all that has happened, this season is nothing short of a huge success.

Agree 100%. I just don't understand those who try and argue we should be ranked higher and have a shot at a BCS bowl after just having a nail biter against Navy. It will probably take all we have to beat Pitt.

Last year both Oregon and Kansas State lost on the same weekend and propelled us to the NCG. Just take care of business and the rest will fall in place.

I think next season may see one of those times when a team improves but the record does not... next year's schedule is looking scary even by our standards...

I really have no problem with seeing this happen. Go to the Pinstripe or Heart of Dallas bowl and get a win.

If nothing else it proves how vital the move to the ACC was, these last two years have been BCS-or-bust. We were very fortunate to see them make the national championship game last year instead of being relegated to the Pinstripe Bowl at 11-1 or something. Yikes.

This... I'm very much in the 'I'd rather win a non BCS bowl than get rocked in a BCS bowl' camp... ND can play with just about everyone in the country from Bama and Oregon on down, on any given, mistake free, day, I believe that... so don't mistake me or twist things... but the most common result from ND vs Bama, Oregon, Baylor, FSU, tOSU, Clemson, LSU, UGA and other BCS teams is a loss, most of them by a lot... I don't think that is being anything other than honest.

I'm not saying I don't want to go to the BCS, I do... but I'd take a non BCS bowl win any day also.

It all depends on Golson and staying healthy. Our defense will hopefully be better next year to help with an offense that can be a top ten unit. The defense really depends on how well Grace recovers, and if his running partner can be as good (Please god hopefully) or better than CalaFox. Redfield, Shumate, and our Safeties should be fine. I really like what the young guys have done and we can be very good at CB. The D-line can be good, but it depends on player growth and health again. I love our offense though.

A healthy ND would beat OSU. Our D-line is much better than any that OSU has played so far, and they looked bad against decent D-lines. Braxton and Hyde will give us trouble, but we can score easily on OSU's D.

agree with most of what you said... the front seven though... that will be a challenge to have them be 'better'.

I don't disagree at all... I'd still say they would be favored rightfully on a neut. field... definately by a smaller margin than most of the others though.

D-line should take a step back, but Rochelle, Jones, and Day with the added help of Springman and Hounshell coming back won't be a big blow if Tuitt leaves.
Linebackers- Jaylon will be better, jury's still out on Williams and if he can replace Shembo (he can IMO), Grace was already better than Calafox, the other spot worries me though.

Didn't read your post carefully my bad. Yeah the media hates us right now, we aren't a bad team but we aren't flashy.

Well, we would have been at at-large last year in a BCS game at 11-1 or 10-2 last year.

I still can't side with the people who would rather have us play in the Heart of Texas Bowl against Rice or North Texas than play in a BCS game. If we actually do finish 10-2 and in the Top 14, we'll be riding a 7-game win streak to end the year including obviously winning at Stanford. I'm not saying that's going to happen, but if we go 10-2 with our schedule, I'd like our chances against just about anyone outside of Bama, Oregon, and FSU.

No one goes to the Heart of Texas Bowl and beats North Texas son... no one.

Win out and the Irish get a BCS invite IMO. Lose one and I can see the Pinstripe bowl.

Eh, I dunno. We gotta move like...15 spots in 4 weeks roughly. I could see us getting as high as 15th if we win out and some things bounce our way, but I'm not sure we'll move much more than that.

Win 2 of the next 3, go to the Pinstripe Bowl and beat some AAC team to finish 10-3. That's a damn good result for a team that lost its dynamic starting QB pre-season and 50% of the defensive roster to injury thereafter.

Need some help but there are still some head to head matchups in front of the Irish that may cancel a few of those teams out. A two loss Irish may be tough to keep out. Better become the biggest Stanford fan Thursday night.

I agree. We would really have to whip everyone we play. I don't think just winning is going to cut it..

If it's not BCS, there would be nothing more that I would like to see than for ND to burn and pillage UC in the Pinstripe. I like UC, but I hate the fans. It would be a joyous occassion.

There's no way we're getting into the top 8, but top 14 is a strong possibility if we win out.

Bowl projections: Solving the SEC logjam; what to do with Notre Dame? - College Football - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

Mandel has us going to the Little Caesar's bowl to play Northern Illinois.

Edit: This would suck.

That would be one of the worst possible outcomes. NIU is not good. They're like all the other "good" teams from worthless conferences - they play nobody and have to get up for one game a year where they might pull off the upset. Unfortunately, because their QB is mobile, he will probably tear up our defense with QB runs and short passes, while their defense would probably be shredded by our offense. This would lead to a shootout against NIU which is a lose-lose situation. Win, and the response is "wow, I guess NIU really sucks". Lose, and the mocking and disrespect continue.
