That poll right there is why Rankings shouldn't begin until week 8 or 9. Although, this will never happen because people tune in to watch top 25 mathcups. In my opinion if the polls would have started week 8 or 9 we'd be in the top 2. But, oh well. Need some favors now.

Ok so obviously we didn't know which team was ND when choosing. So how many of you chose ND #1 when looking at it? Obviously #1 wasn't an option but when I went through I thought "ok this team is clearly #1, now who should take that #2 spot?" I was clearly choosing ND #1 (although at the time I thought it was actually Alabama)

I actually had KSU as my #1 and thought ND fell very nicely into the #2 spot. (without knowing who anyone was, of course)
I was actually really surprised when I saw the results. I really thought Bama would be one of my two. Then I remembered that Bama and Oregon haven't played anyone...

I picked KSU as my #1, but ND was my clear #2.
One reason this blind test is so compelling is the objective stats are laid out in a (roughly) accurate order of importance: signature wins > quality wins > SoS > margin of victory.
KSU is the only team with 3 wins against top-20 opponents, so the eye naturally goes to their stat line first. Then you see good SoS and margin of victory figures, and it's an easy choice for #1.
Same process for picking ND 2nd. Both 'Bama and ND have 2 wins over top-20 opponents, and while ND's margin of victory is pretty average, their SoS is much better.

Maybe. But that's the results as of today. In 3 and 4 weeks it will look different. For instance, if Alabama wins out, they'll have another possible Top-20 win over A&M and a definite other Top-20 win in the SEC CG. If ND beats SC, that probably won't be a Top-20 win.
Not that you're saying this, but this poll isn't definitive or anything-- just what it looks like today.
But yeah, I would definitely like this to get more publicity. It could open up some peoples' eyes to blatant homerism that infects so many...especially down here in SEC country.

Oregon: 98.5% (seriously... apparently Cal is that bad)
Notre Dame: 90% (surprised they're giving us a 10% chance of losing... seems pretty harsh)

Everybody kept talking last week about how theres lots of football left to play...well, not really. Now theres only 3 games left in the regular season, and it's quite likely that all of the top 4 teams run the table, or at least Alabama, K State, and Oregon. I sure hope we don't lose to USC.
Also, 10% chance is more than enough for BC to get fired up over playing the Irish. I'm sure most people didn't give BC a 10% chance in '93 and 2002.
