Down the road, combine this level of defensive play with an experienced offense (Golson as a veteran and the speedy skill positions players like GA3, Daniels, Brown, Neal, etc.) and we should be blowing out the little guys like 50-3 every time.

Not to mention with an offensive line with Elmer, Bivin, Stanley, Montelus, and McGlichney and company.

Can someone explain to me how Alabama doesn't have to play South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida 2 years in a row???? (this season and next).

Oregon scares the **** out of me if I were anyone....Its tough to tell how good they cause they haven't played anyone but every week they are scoring 71 every week it seems like. They also still have to play USC, Oregon state, and stanford. Lot of time left to lose. I would prefer to play alabama or kstate rather than oregon.

Will know a lot more about Oregon after those games. USC has the guns to win a shootout. And Stanford could provide us a road map for stopping them (though I don't know if their offense can keep up with the Ducks).
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Alabama loses at LSU this weekend, at which point people start to wonder who it is they've beaten. Of course then I worry about LSU jumping ahead of us.
K-State's the weakest of the three, but also I think the least likely to lose. They've played the best teams on their schedule, with Okie State, Baylor and Texas remaining. Also no Big 12 title game. I'd think this weekend in Stillwater is their toughest game left.

Stanford has had a hell of a time handling Oregon's speed recently.

@DavidMcCoyWSBT: ESPN BCS guru Brad Edwards: "Of the top four, Notre Dame has the least chance of getting into the title game." Cites weak next 3 weeks.

I would be ecstatic.

I think there is a realistic chance of it. USC certainly has the talent, we just don't know how they are going to play. LSU is really hard to beat at home, and their defense is not far behind Alabama's. We have seen a superior Alabama team go in the tiger's den and lose before.

Whipped ranked Texas Tech and ranked West Virginia. The freaking B1G is what is hurting us with human voters.
Those two teams are not even good. It's so ****ing stupid that they are getting credit for beating up on two clearly overrated teams, whereas our clearly overrated teams (Michigan and MSU) are totally discounted. And why, why, why, WHY are we not getting credit for beating Stanford?

As much as I like -- check that -- LOVE seeing Michigan and USC lose, this season is real for the Irish for once. We needed those idiots to win this weekend. I will riot if we go 12-0 and get left out.

No problems folks. Alabama and Oregon will lose next week. I said it.

We'd be behind KSU and LSU then. I'm telling you guys, whoever wins the SEC championship game is going to the NC. The pollsters will not let them be shut out. I don't care how many undefeated teams there are. We need KSU to lose and we need Oregon to lose. And we'll play the SEC champion. That's our only realistic path to the NC game.

I predict that Alabama loses this week. I also don't see Oregon beating USC twice. And I think that K-State stumbles and loses 1 they shouldn't.

Good to hear Palmer say that we should be ahead of K-State though due to our better showings against similar opponents.

Unfortunately, I believe you are right. Can you imagine that scenario. To quote Marty Huggins:''It's a mess!''.

I totally disagree. There is no way in hell that If Notre Dame is undefeated, we will be jumped by a 1-loss team. Doesn't matter that they're the SEC.

You guys are acting like we are an undefeated Boise team or something. We might have the strongest brand in college football. If we continue winning, the hype machine will continue pumping us up. It's only people's opinions that are holding us back right now, the computers see us as one of the best #2 teams right now.

We will have the resume when the season ends, take a chill pill chicken-littles.

Agree with Palmer. K state is good, but ND has shown to be better against common opponents. I would also argue that a 1 loss Oklahoma team in Norman is a team that had to win...As well they appear to have solved some issues prior to ND...ie young receivers. It was a better, more desperate Oklahoma team ND faced. I think the circumstances were more difficult for ND to win in Norman...

...the nod from the coaches should go ND...not K state.

One-loss SEC champ will not get in over undefeated Notre Dame. It will never, ever happen.

EDIT: As much as we've have the rub of the green in our own games this year, nothing else has gone our way. Oklahoma loses to K-State when they were largely the better team in that game (thanks, Landry and Bell). MSU loses two heartbreakers to Iowa and Ohio State, or they'd be ranked. USC chokes hard against Arizona. Stanford doesn't show up for that Thursday night game at UW. BYU -- who is going to win out and finish 8-4 -- loses to Boise and Utah by a combined 4 points. Purdue is now a bad team after losing Marve for the season, and also lost to Ohio State in overtime. And now Robinson is hurt and Michigan will probably crap the bed from here on out (not that that bothers me much at all).

Kirk Herbstreit expects Oregon to jump us if we both win out.

An unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. Just win all the games on your schedule....Thats very tough to do...If four teams do it then I'll be shocked....

I'd bet all my vbucks and real money that no 1 loss team jumps us if we win out

Wait and see. LSU beating Bama gets LSU over Oregon in the BCS (Oregon will still lead in the human polls) and right behind us... and I mean RIGHT behind us. Oregon passes us when their computer ranking catches up and LSU passes us when they beat Miss St and we play BC. It would then be 1.Oregon (the computers finally help them out enough to bring them up to where the humans want them.) 2. KSU and 3.LSU. LSU beats Georgia in the SEC championship while KSU and ND are inactive, and jump KSU. The SEC bias is that strong.

Fortunately this won't actually happen: Bama is going to roll.

That is a legit concern of mine too. We only play BCS competition. 5 teams in the top 25, and our competition is weak. I don't get it.
