That staff is history. They have to make this a clean sweep. They'll keep someone on as interim just to make sure the program doesn't spin out of further control and to make sure players are attending workouts, etc. Once a HC is hired the interim will be gone. Given what they have to work with I would say Baylor will get plenty of applicants. They'll need to hire asap so recruiting doesn't go in the tank along with Art.

Briles is 60 years old and I doubt he coaches anywhere this season. So his next stop will probably be his last, imo.

60 isn't old. I can see him jumping at a chance to coach a bigger name program after a couple of years working with a lower level program. By that time there will be schools that would be willing to roll the dice with him.

I'd like to hope that this section will help reign in the absurdity that is college football discipline right now. But I'm sure it will do nothing to the morally bankrupt universities of the South.

Just in general, this obviously can't hurt Texas recruiting. At this point, Texas is the only legit program that isn't a dumpster fire and they aren't completely out of the woods. Especially, if they have another slow start to the season. With A&M and Baylor in reeling, I'd be all over Texas recruits. Sounds like we've already made some traction with a few good players but I'd keep kicking tires.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. The winner in all of this is Charlie Strong. They went from handpicking the state under Mack to watching Baylor and A&M soar. Now the tide has turned again.

Baylor has essentially already labeled themselves with "Lack of Institutional Control."

Their release was only three or four words off from the above statement. I would say that maybe they're looking at sanctions a bit worse than what OSU got, but we're talking about the NCAA... it might be 7 years before they decide something, and by then, they'll just say that all guilty/affected parties are gone, so it's no use in taking action.

Baylor report a scathing indictment of Art Briles' football program:
A 13-page document outlining all the ways in which Baylor failed to address sexual assault concerns is damning to the exiting coach and school as a whole

Baylor football coaches essentially covered up sexual assault complaints from the university and police, according to a scathing report by the university's law firm that resulted in Baylor coach Art Briles' firing and the reassignment of president Ken Starr.
The 13-page report produced Thursday by Baylor can only be read as a damning indictment of the entire football program. Pepper Hamilton, the law firm hired by the university to investigate, concluded there was "a cultural perception that football was above the rules."

"Football coaches and staff took affirmative steps to maintain internal control over discipline of players and to actively divert cases from the student conduct or criminal processes," the Finding of Facts document read. "In some cases, football coaches and staff had inappropriate involvement in disciplinary and criminal matters or engaged in improper conduct that reinforced an overall perception that football was above the rules, and that there was no culture of accountability for misconduct."

In a statement, Baylor Board of Regents chairman Richard Willis said the board was "horrified" by the extent of sexual violence found on the campus.
"The depth to which these acts occurred shocked and outraged us," Willis said. "Our students and their families deserve more, and we have committed our full attention to improving our processes, establishing accountability and ensuring appropriate actions are taken to support former, current and future students."

Yup, I think it's time to bring back #CJK5H (Although it never really died on the Shag ). I don't know how you can say Briles was ever a victim in all this. He didn't perpetrate the acts, but he helped cover everything up and he brought these rapists in after they were booted from other colleges.

Two slimy old men hiding behind the Bible, a Southern "Good Old Boy" persona, and an"awwww shucks" attitude to secretly do whatever the hell it took to win football games, even if that meant ignoring the law or rules.


Also, this is exactly what happens when you let the inmates run the asylum, and have adults covering their tracks. Tom Osbourbe would be part of this Mount Rushmore of scumbaggery if social media was around during his tenure.

I would assume that he wouldn't. Why would they hire from within from a staff that they are cleaning house on. I highly doubt they look at anyone with connections to the current staff.
