scUM misses this week against a weak Maryland team and plays O$U would MOST LIKELY make Hairbaugh's team 2-5 for the year! Hahahaha, gotta love it!!!
The BIG bad PAC screwed themselves over by starting late. And now it looks like 1 or 2 SEC, 1 or 2 ACC and more than likely Cincinnati in the playoff. And the BIG 12 is garbage so..
It's funny reading Buckeye fan hot takes. Most believe they will get into the playoffs regardless of number of games played. USC or Washington may have a better claim to a playoff spot than Ohio St if things continue trending as is. There is a decently long list of teams who started 4-0, or will have started 4-0 this year. That doesn't get you into the playoffs, don't care what the jersey says.
Assuming Notre Dame beats Clemson (a tall order, let's be honest) and the committee decides not to accept an Ohio State team that played a half-season...
1) Alabama
2) Notre Dame
3) Texas A&M
4) Cincinnati
No way they put a two-loss Clemson in there.
If Clemson beats Notre Dame for the ACC title...
1) Alabama
2) Clemson
3) Notre Dame??
4) Texas A&M??
I can't see the committee pairing up Clemson and Notre Dame in the semifinals.
Why a tall order? ND left like 17 points on the field and our defense is improving weekly. Is Trevor Lawrence going to throw for 800 yards?
ND has better wins than AM and Cincy looks like a better team and is undefeated. I can't see ND dropping to 4 unless Florida beats Bama.
ND was damn lucky to win that Clemson game. Sorry folks but ND< Bama or Clemson at full strength. Im not saying it is as far behind as the past years but folks have to quit feeding the hype monster. I love my team but we gave to face that most of NDs roster isnt starting on either of those teams today.
OSU shouldnt be allowed in the playoffs but I cannot see B10 allowing them to be out. Far too much pull that conference has. They will find a way to schedule a game in time even if they are playing the school of the blind (most of the B10 anyhow) on a Tuesday. Can you imagine how much drama would unfold if they werent allowed in the playoffs?
Every FBS conference has a contingency plan for determining its winner this season in the event its conference championship game can't be played during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, almost ensuring the College Football Playoff selection committee will determine its final ranking as planned on Dec. 20 without delay.
"The management committee decided earlier this month not to lengthen the regular season," CFP executive director Bill Hancock told ESPN on Saturday evening. "As folks know, many games have already been played and many others are on tap for the next three weekends. The selection committee will set the CFP pairings Dec. 20."
If the Big Ten can't play its title game, the two divisional champions will be declared co-champions and any teams ranked in the top four of the final CFP poll will automatically be placed in the playoff.
According to the Big Ten, a team must play at least six games to participate in the conference title game. If the average number of games played in the league drops to six or below, that benchmark will also lower.
Here's the good news for Ohio State and its fans: The CFP doesn't require teams to play a minimum number of games to qualify for a semifinal.
Here's the bad news: A 5-0 Ohio State team that doesn't have a conference title but still finishes in the top four would be difficult for the selection committee to justify -- especially with No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 6 Florida and No. 7 Cincinnati holding steady and ultimately compiling bigger and better résumés. Add to that Northwestern fumbling its opportunity in a loss to a now 2-3 Michigan State team and the Big Ten could be in a real playoff predicament. If Ohio State isn't the Big Ten's champion by playing in its title game, it's unlikely the committee would take a one-loss Northwestern or Indiana team instead.

this is probably worth posting here too:

As of today the average numbers of games played is 5.14. 2 weeks left in regular season and they currently have the NW/Minn game cancelled. If all other games played they would average exactly 7 games played. It would take another 8 games to get canceled over this week and next to get the average below 6.
They would have to cancel A LOT of games for that to happen. After today the cumulative number of games played in the Big 10 will be 36. 36x2=72. 72/14=5.14 which is the average games per team after today. The average number games per team just needs to be over 5.5 for Ohio St to be ineligible. So of the remaining 14 Big 10 games left on the schedule they only need to play 3. This would bring the total to 72+6=78. 78/14=5.57 which rounds up to 6.

Indiana has earned the chance to play them. But instead they'll let Fitz and his boys get ax murdered.
There is talk of an OSU-Indiana rematch if the Purdue-Indiana game is canceled due to COVID issues at Purdue. Doubt it happens but that would at least show they are trying to hold to the original agreement. BYU-CC pulled it off in two days so no clue why it couldn't happen.
