After watching that video, I suspect that this move by Autry has less to do with being a strategic career move, and more about his calling to impact as many lives as he possibly can. As a head coach, his impact will simply be greater.

Good Luck Autry and keep fighting the good fight.

The only name on that list who makes no sense is Alford. Recruiting RBs at OSU is a helluva lot easier than it is at ND.

Whack...If you were my age and watched Denson at ND as a child and early teen years you would have respect for him. I mean he is only the leading rushing in Notre Dame Football history.

Didn't BK have some sour statements about Alford when he left ND of pOSU a few years back?

Congrats AD. The Dome called and you came home. What you did with those who took the challenge... excellent...the fundamentals were near perfect.

Thank you.

Enjoy your time growing young men at the next stop...I hope we'll be seeing you again.

And yet he got Greg Bryant, Tarean Folston, Josh Adams and Dexter Williams to Notre Dame. Tevon Coney too, I believe.

I’m not sure Alford is feasible or the right guy for the job right now. But the man can recruit.

Coach Denson is a gentleman. I think he did a great job with our RB's. I read that our running backs haven't lost a fumble in a couple of years. Question his recruiting but he is and has been a great ambassador for the University as a coach, player, and human being. Good luck Coach!

Back up the Brinks truck and get Tony Alford in here.....dont f*ck around; pay the man and get him in here ASAP. They should have paid him before....(I'm pretty sure I said the same thing when he originally left for OSU.)

Seriously, I get ppl are frustrated with his recruiting, but the production out of our RBs in 15, 17, and 18 were top notch stuff. Can anyone name the last time one of our RBs fumbled without looking it up? Nope because it’s been years. He’s a Notre Dame man. Good Luck Cocach Denson, you will be missed

This with a bullet!

My fondest ND memories are watching 23 with the ball. I fell in love with ND for a lot of reasons, and AD might be the biggest one. Thanks Coach, you will always be Irish and welcomed back anytime.

Love Thee

My initial post is about him as a coach/recruiter. As many of of you have said, he seems like a great man and I'm sure he's a great father too.

But I don't like the direction of the position was headed and the lack of recruiting wasn't helping either. Denson had failed to build up the depth chart with quality backs that could be called upon. We had Dex, Jafar, and Tony Jones in 2018. Dex and Jafar are quality backs, but I wouldn't put Jones in that category. Looking at teams like Clemson and Bama (we should do this now because they are the standard and we have shown that we can at least make the playoff), their running back depth charts were far better than ours.

Our running backs haven't fumbled? Thats nice and all, but I wouldn't say running back success hinders on that. BC 2015 is the last time we lost a fumble from a running back, I think.

So, no, production from our #1 running back isn't the reason why I would like change. The fact that running back recruiting straight up sucks and we have no depth at the position is a big reason why I would like to see change.

So he’s not a good coach even though he’s had premium production at the position? And quite frankly 18 is the only year where we didn’t have depth at the position. Prosise and Adams in 15 with Folston being injured in the season. 17- Adams, Williams, Jones and Macintosh all contributing in some fashion even though most were injured at some point during the season. Is it his fault Holmes and Macintosh messes up and were forced to leave causing the depth to be crippled? And the fact you can’t give him credit for his running backs not losing a fumble in three seasons, shows your not being objective here.

True, but we don't know how Alford feels about his position now that he reports to a new HC.

Jones is a quality contributor, very good blocker and pass catcher, he's just not a #1 RB. Jafar might be but that's alot to pin on a converted WR.
Either way our #1 RB in 2019 was supposed to be CJ Holmes, with Deon McIntosh behind him. I think if they hadn't both proven to be fuckups we wouldn't be all that worried about the position right now.
I don't know how much if their fuck-up-ery to pin on Denson (probably not much), but I don't really think it's a failure of recruiting that Holmes decided to join in Kevin Stepherson's adventures in self-destruction.
