Living in Austin right now, but grew up in Midwest and went to ND. It's more humid here in Central Texas than I remember the Midwest ever being growing up. Not saying it's Houston or New Orleans, but it's pretty thick when you combine it with the heat.

And as for the heat, don't expect it to dropdown to even 70F at night . The hottest point of the day is 1-4PM, and if the projected high is 98F, it will feel like 110F around 4PM. It will probably still feel 95F at the minimum by 6:30PM.

I'm not saying our guys can't handle it. I don't think it will be a big issue. But I entirely disagree when y'all say it's been comparable in South Bend or "won't be too bad" in College Station
I agree with what you are saying for sure, there's probably no comparison. However, these are D1 coaches and trainers that have been all over the country in their careers. Denbrock is returning to us from the deep south. These guys know how to prep their players accordingly. They are running players in a rotation not just for A&M but for the entire season, but it will certainly pay dividends in the heat.

If ND loses, it's not going to be because they weren't prepared for the TX heat.

Most of the conversation was about the heat, but this post....is their QB really that much more mobile than Leonard? If so, that is impressive.
No, he's not considered the same level of athlete as Leonard but he's not a statue. He had a baseball scholarship for TAMU as well so he's mobile-enough to hurt you when you've locked everything else down.

This is honestly what gives me the most pause. Our DL/LB unit must be able to pressure without giving up huge lanes for him to take off.

Both teams have questions and both teams have weapons.

If we keep sacks to 4 or less, then I will honestly be happy. I have lower expectations than most but with a young line and a vaunted DL, 1 sack/qtr on average isn't insurmountable.

Both QBs are coming off of longer than expected recovery on foot injuries. It will be interesting to see if one or both or neither teams have QB runs designed in their game plan.

Ahhh - preseason kool-aid. This guy has his beloved Aggies finished 10-2 and a blowout win against Texas to end the season.
Yeah... he also has them beating UF at UF by 7 (should probably be more), Missouri by 11, @Miss by 3, LSU by 18, Texas by 28. Losing at USCe by 5, at Auburn by 1. Finishing at 10-2...

Guy is nuts.

Elko is a very good coach. Thankfully our OC has a pulse this year. Should’ve beat Duke by 3 tds last year. Play your best players and let the chips fall. It’s fun to be excited and a bit nervous to see some of this young talent making noise in camp.

It was a hot one in Dallas this weekend, 103-105 but looks like it's going to be cooler starting later this week into next week. Texas is notorious for starting out at 94 and the forecast jumping 5-6 degrees in a matter of days.
TBH we won't get a real read on how hot it's going to be that Sat until the Thursday before. At least this is a night game, I went to the UT/ Bama game in Austin a few szn's back. That was around 101 at game time for an afternoon kickoff. Ppl were passing out from heat exhaustion left and right, it was insanity.

It doesn’t matter where you are from, hot is hot when playing football.
BOTH teams will be hot & tired & BOTH teams will have to sub.

It’s not like A&M players won’t get tired in 105 degree heat, of course they will.
I was in the Middle East surrounded by people whose ancestors had been there for thousands of years, & guess what? They got hot in 115 degrees too & had to find shelter.

Both teams will have to sub. A&M’s DL isnt staying in because “they are used to it.”

I will give an example some of you might remember.
ND at Texas, 1996, 3:30 kickoff.
Temps over 100 on the field the entire game.
Texas ranked 6th, ND 9th, Texas favored.
ND trailer 24-17 with 5 minutes to go.
ND scored the last 10 to win 27-24.
So ND outperformed Texas as the game went on in temperatures over 100.

A&M plays three other teams on their schedule with a pulse...Texas, Missouri and LSU. Should go 0-3. The other teams on their schedules couldnt cut warm butter. If ND is truly a NC playoff team, they shouldnt be sweating a team like A&M. Especially with a first year coach, no matter how much people here think he walks on water. It takes time to gel and to recruit players that fit your game plan. Give them respect is one thing, sweating out, "oh what shall we do" is a completely different thing.

This is where I'm at with this game. It's time to win games like this.

Benjamin Morrison is from Phoenix, KVA is from the Inland Empire, Knapp is from Georgia, Leonard is from Alabama, Price is from Texas, Greathouse is from Austin. Plenty of guys have experience in heat, and plenty of them have played in the south early in the year. Weather sucks but these guys have trainers and coaches preparing them for it.

And they're younger than everyone on IE, so they can handle the heat better.

Have we gotten soft?? We have studs all across our roster. Morrison. Evans. Cross. Leonard. Watts. Love. Kiser. Greathouse. Gray. Thomas. Collins. Many more.

If the OL is shitting the bed, switch it to quick game to our strong receivers. If the quick game isn’t working, have Leonard do option runs. Good luck guarding both Love and Leonard. Denbrock is absolutely the guy we want navigating the line play IF it is shaky, and we’ve got him. Irish win by 13

Seeing way too many people acting like the game is already decided, as if we’re not the better team. TAMU has more problems than us. Their secondary is cheeks, our DT is gonna have their fans squeezing their nuts off, and their players probably can’t even read the down marker
