Moneyline jumped to ND -142 on DraftKings. Was hovering at 130 for a few weeks from what I saw.

An ND fan in the Cover 3 chat today asked them live what positions Miami had an advantage at and they unanimously agreed on QB, but then went back and forth and said maybe interior DL. That’s it. Two positions and none of them realized what that exercise revealed lol.

To be fair, they don’t make their picks until tomorrow so it will be interesting if anyone realizes their conclusions from the group exercise.
To be fair, QB may be the one position that can determine the outcome of the game. Problem is that you combine who Carson Beck is as a QB and what we know about this particular defense, that's generally a recipe for disaster. A defense that gets pressure, and has an elite secondary. Beck is a good passer when he has a clean pocket and relatively liberal windows to throw the ball. When he doesn't, he's bad.

With Carr, we really don't know how he'll play. But I'm also a lot more confident that ND's line will be able to keep him upright than the other way around with Beck.

And everything I read about the DT's, I really think they're going to be A LOT better than I had thought and I thought they were going to be pretty dang good.

Yeah, there really isn't much to go off. Not to mention, a lot of the backend of the defense and the receivers on offense are going to be brand spanking new.

I will say, the one game that gave me pause on Miami's trench play in particular was Georgia Tech. Cam Ward did his thing as usual, but Tech absolutely destroyed them up front both ways. And it's not like Georgia Tech was just amazing in the trenches, as ND was able to handle business against them just fine, and that was without Billy Schrauth either.

I think they have some dudes particularly in Mauigoa and Bain, but I don't know if they're great units left to right. I think ND has great units left to right. It's not just one or two guys, it's basically the whole dang unit.

If anyone wants to hear a maybe more accurate view of Miami Football I would go listen to the Miami247 Season preview podcast from yesterday. It’s wildly different from how they’ve written about that team. It honestly makes me think they might get accessed pulled if they write critically about the team.

No one (outside of this board) is really talking about our pass rush but Young, Sneed and Traore if he's healthy can be absolute game-wreckers here. Especially coupled with our DBs.

I've heard a similar sentiment about this before, that they might get their access pulled if they're too critical of the team.

Which is just absurd. If Mike Frank was held to that standard, he'd have been out of a job decades ago.

Greeny sucks. He blew up Mike and Mike because he was jealous of the likability disparity between him and Golic Sr.

Greeny is a little bitch. I'm amazed he's as high up as he is in the ESPN chain, my own speculation is people love to hate him I guess.

“Jojo Trader, from my understanding, is practicing this week. Let's see what it looks like on Sunday. I'm not certain what the snap output is going to be as he continues to work his way back, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him play in some capacity.”

Significantly more negative update than perception around him the last few weeks

Cane fan coming in here in as much.. peace as I possibly can ( dodges beer bottle tossed at the head )

I don't understand why you lot are calling miami delusional when posting something like this. The most important position on your team hasn't thrown a single pass... and we're gonna get stomped? I hope cristobal isn't THAT bad, sheesh

anyway, Good luck to you guys, part of me wishes you had taken down ohio state because them and bama are the worst cheats in this sport. Them along with georgia ruined the sport and caused the NIL to come alive. Now it's a shit show of who can pay the most money rather than recruiting and development.

My thoughts:

I know we don't play the greatest regular season schedule but man oh man looking at your 2024 schedule: florida state, stanford and purdue are the worst teams in the sport right now. They're just embarrassing and seeing stanford lose to hawaii like they just did, double yikes. Then you also had army and navy on your schedule. Best win was clearly the aggies with a brand new head coach in his first game. Other than that you won by a TD vs a 4 loss louisville team, and the 3rd best win i guess would be a 6 loss usc team.

You guys seem to have a ton of confidence in this run game that mustered 53 yards in the championship. Love had 46 yards vs penn state, and is not even in the stat sheet for the playoffs. Miami fans are saying this guy is the truth, that doesn't look like a whole lot of truth. Was he fighting injuries? Vs fsu he average 3 yards a carry, same vs louisville. I was expecting to be blown away by this guy the way miami fans talk about him, looks like a non-factor.

The crap of some of you talk about beck is pretty irrational, and that's coming from someone that didn't like us getting him. Georgia led the country in drops while having a rushing game that ranked 105th in the nation. I'm not sure what you expect someone to do in that situation?

Anyway as for miami:

Lance guidry should never coach at a high level of football ever again, that is the worst defensive coordinator I've ever seen. The defense will be better because that's simply the only direction it can go. Cam ward basically walked onto the field every time knowing if he didn't score a touchdown we would lose. Our offensive coordinator dawson is starting to really show his worth considering every single WR that ward threw to has been cut from nfl rosters. Number 1 offense in football with zero NFL WR's on it, that's earning your money right there. All of that is a mute point as of today, the entire secondary is 4 stars and up and is basically a new roster.

There's not a doubt in my mind who has the better head coach, and it's not cristobal. Never wanted him, still don't as he's done nothing at this level to earn 10 million a year for 8 years. His time at oregon gave him unlimited money in a terrible conference. He's been exposed for not being what his reputation is, saban's own words once said he's the greatest recruiter in the country. Well how hard is it to recruit during prime bama years and unlimited nike money? Now he's got a top 5 NIL money down at miami and he's in his 3 year coming off 3 losses with rather un-spectacular recruiting classes. Ward didn't play the 2nd half of the bowl game, so to be fair it would have been 2 losses but it's still not acceptable.

This is his THIRD defensive coordinator already, he simply doesn't have it unfortunately.

I guess a lot of you weren't down there in 2017 for that game, that stadium is the most hostile in the country for big games. The previous game to that was vs va tech and it was nearly as loud for that game. This is going to be the real factor just like it was in 2017, because we probably lose that game on a neutral field and instead it's 34-0 in the 3rd quarter.

The poster on the front page that said you're walking into a hornets nest is right, this isn't gonna be any different atmosphere wise than 2017. Some tickets are going for $10k, I just don't see a qb with no experience going into this and coming out with a win. If you're going to this game I highly advise you to bring serious ear protection. During warm ups in 2017 you already couldn't hear the person next to you.

Hilarious that a Miami fan is talking schedule with us. How many ranked teams did you guys beat last year? Zero. You lost 3 of your last 4. You've got one ranked win in the last 3 years and it's to an A&M team that later collapsed and fired their head coach. Your confidence is built around a QB that Georgia cast off for a first time starter, along with a 2017 game where you stomped Big Game Brain Kelly, no surprise there. That 2017 ND team was fresh off a 2016 debacle, one of ND's worst seasons of all time. It wasn't that impressive of a win, especially since Miami lost 3 of their next 4 games again that year (I'm sensing a pattern...)

This isn't 2017. ND has a lot more talent, much better coaches, better culture, and experience. Miami has some transfers, but they're the same mediocre team more or less that ended 2024 with a string of losses. It's highly unlikely Miami can win this game on their own, they're going to need ND to trip on their dick to have a chance. If ND comes out and plays mistake free, you have no shot.
