I’m done worrying about this game, Miami lost 3 out of their last 4 games last year, were bailed out by the refs vs Va Tech and rebuilt the team around transfers. Paper tiger. ND is going to kick their ass!!! Just my opinion.
Weren’t they also lucky to beat Cal last year, or am I mistaken?

I heard there was also the intimidation factor of when the busses pulled up, a group surrounded them and started shaking the bus and there were no security measures taken to ensure safety/etc. That is not how you want to arrive at a stadium. Hope they have 30-40+ riot police to secure the area to allow the players off the bus this time.

I'm not making that up right? I could've sworn I remember seeing the buses swaying back and forth by an angry mob with no law enforcement/help in sight.
Didn’t a rumor come out years later about something to do with ND’s digital signal not being secure/Miami being able to access ND’s communications?

Miami is partially enclosed and the coverings funnel crowd noise back down to the field.

I've been to a LOT of NFL/college stadiums, to include playoff games, and Hard Rock in 2017 was probably one of the Top 3 loudest games I've ever attended. And not only was it loud, but it was vitriolic; that crowd wanted blood, and the Canes fed off that energy.
I think you nailed it probably more than i did with trying to put it into words…the hostility in the air was palpable that night. It wasnt just the sheer decibel level although I’m sure that was up there too.

I remember this rumor coming out around the time that scUM's giant cheating scandal was uncovered, but I thought nothing of it. Tbh the team just looked like they didn't want to play that day.

Yup, they basically cheated to beat both Cal and Virginia Tech.

With that being said -- they were a "paper tiger" last year because their defense was TOTAL ASS... it was BVG level bad. So if that group is good because of new coach + transfers all bets are off. They certainly downgrade in the passing game though losing the #1 draft pick and a number of highly productive WRs.

I don't get too worked up about the VT game (was in attendance with my better half). There was absolutely no way that play should have been called a catch on the field, and multiple players had touched the ball out of bounds before the VT player "caught" it on the deflection, which is automatically an incomplete. To me, it was pretty clearly an incomplete both on the field and on review.

(Good view here):

The Cal game involved a pretty egregious targeting call against Bissainthe that somehow was reversed on replay and would have iced the game for Cal (up 6 with less than two minutes to go on a third down play). That one is a legitimate gripe.

ND should hire their own security detail and not tolerate bush league thug behavior. No italics.

That miss was so fucking deflating. Kicking in general last year was just absurd... fun fact is that we would've had the #1 scoring offense in the country if we just made all our kicks instead of missing 40%.

We had the worst kicker in FBS by fg percentage last year

The wine and cheese crowd for ND left at half time b/c they didn't feel safe. Admin even chimed in as much - it was a South Florida jamoke/cholo gone wild show.

Can we find these dudes and GoFundMe some seats for them?

To put it in perspective, Miami's Defensive F+ ranking last year was 59th in the country, ND's rank in 2016 was 47th. Miami has farther to go but brought in a good DC along with multiple transfers. Will it work week 1?

This DC seems good but he isn’t Jim Knowles or Al Golden. The Big Ten is filled with doo doo offenses. He got blasted by Maryland and Iowa last year by their terms. Letting up 30 to Iowa should get you fired, or in this case hired by the Hurricanes.

DraftKings now has Carr and Minchey at both 50-1 for Heisman

FanDuel is Carr 30-1 and Minchey 80-1

* Love is 40-1 in both

He played QB in college and his coaching career started on the offensive side of the ball. Ten years ago he was coaching DL at Maine. His career has really moved fast.

DC at James Madison from 2019-2021, which ultimately put him on the faster track to now.

He attacks and preaches the whole "play fast" bit. You would think Denbrock can exploit some of the over aggressiveness. They will have basically had to look at Minnesota film from last year a bit to prep. Like you said, got lit up by Iowa.

Probably was not Cristobal's first choice.

Skyline chili happened to the fall camp thread.
We're trying to keep website traffic down so that the site doesn't crash again. Random chili talk detracts visitors.

In all seriousness, there is a pattern: No practice = no news/updates. No news = skyline chili. We really need to discuss actual football around here lol
