You do realize that Cam has 4 carries for 28 yards? It isn't like he is running poorly.

Huge play at the end of the half there. Glad CJ got rid of his butterfingers on that play.

Exactly. Cam had a heck of a run there about halfway through the 2nd quarter. Quit dogging on the guy just because he wasn't listed as a 5 star. The kid can make plays, and he does everything right.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that the 6-6 ND team thumped Nevada 35-0 to open 2009. Just saying.

Some 5 stars are busts, some 3 stars are gems...happens all the time. Talent and high school production don't always tell the story.

I'm not saying Cam is terrible, but if you want to win in big games, and this is not one, Cam needs to be on the sideline. The eye test alone shows that the other two are just explosive. To be fair though, maybe Cam has better blocking ability on passing downs.

Everyone also needs to keep in mind that the 14-0 2013 National Champion Florida State Seminoles started their season thumping Pittsburgh 41-13. Just saying.

I mean if we're throwing out meaningless game results I figured, why not?

OL has been disappointing IMO. All time has been due to Golson's scrambling, not because of great blocking.

DL has been pretty non-existent.

Other than that, all aces. PR, Golson, Fuller, Bryant, all great. Schmidt playing really well, but I want to see Morgan get snaps. Overall very happy with how Schmidt's playing.

Overall this is the best I've seen our offense look in a long long time. We could very easily have 38 points right now.

In addition to the longest run in the game and the highest yd/carry 7.0, Cam is the leading rusher in the game.

They also had some QB... I forget who,but Mark May was all over how he'd single handedly kill us...

true, but (1) the other two have been more consistent; and (2) I'm more worried about feeding the two young beasts (keeping them happy) than I am keeping the senior captain happy. Production being generally equal, of course.

Your post seemed a little too wet blanketish considering I don't think anyone on here thinks this team is flawless and definitely going to run the table because of 1 half of football against Rice. However (in typical ND fashion) the offseason was depressing/frustrating so excuse some people for getting excited that a few positive things are happening thus far in the game.

Particularly for those who dwell on HS stats.


The three of them had a comparable number of carries but only the slow, "keep him on the bench" guy busted a big run.


I give credit where it's due.
