What would be awesome is if we blew them out and Malik got some playing time. But I just want to win. I'm already a worrier and ever since Tulsa and usf I worry even more about these games. If we win who gives a shit we are supposed to but if we lose it's a humiliating loss that can get thrown in our faces at any time.

My hopes are for a competitive game, no major injuries on either side, and Rice covering the spread. Your athletes should prevail, but I hope we will not be embarrassed! The drive home from Memphis was twice as bad as the trip up.

I really miss the days when we had the huge rivalries within the old SouthWest Conference. Just like the fuck Michigan cries, we had a similar feelings toward Texas and Tx A&M, and the rest of the conference. It is hard for me to get the same intensity for playing the schools of CUSA. I don't even know where some of them are (Middle Tennessee??).

So basically we're going to have rain in the Midwest off and on all day... and big thunderstorms starting in earnest right at kickoff. Awesome. There will be zero crowd at this game... shades of USF.

Plan on being drunk enough to not feel the rain. Might feel lightning though.

I remember the weather delays in the USF game were unbearable. Worst game experience ever. Should just delay until Sunday and call it NFL.

I'm just not sure that BK was speaking to a specific year or era when he made that statement. Just that this offense will look different than in years past. We ran some zone read and speed option with Golson in 2012 so that won't be different. But the amount that we use it and the speed with which we get the plays off and get to the line of scrimmage.

If I recall correctly, Golson did run a few speed options plays with a simple pitch read at the boundary, but most of the tactical analyses I've read since have agreed that Golson did not actually run any true Read Option in 2012. There were many plays where they simulated the mesh hand-off, but it's clear on the tape that any time Golson kept the ball, it was a designed run for him.

The Read Option is arguably the most important running play for any spread offense, and we've been limping along without it for the last four years. I can't wait to see how it opens up our attack.

True, that was pretty bad. The worst part about the rain tomorrow will be the humidity if/when it [breifly?] stops. 80+ degrees with 100% humidity. No thanks.

I also read where BK talked about how the turf added 10-15 degrees as well.

Yep I was there too, between the weather delays, shitty play, eventual lose, and driving back home 11hrs having to think about it ruined what was supposed to be an awesome weekend.

The extra heat the turf gives off reminded me of something...maybe it's just me, but why is it that the opposing team always has those cool mist fans blowing on them behind their bench, but our players do not? I mean, I usually sit right behind the opposing bench, but from what I can see our guys don't have 'em on their sideline.

I'm leaning towards BK talking about Luatua being in the hback...unless they go full house back field
Outlined against a black-gray August sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore their names are Death, Destruction, Pestilence, and Famine. But those are aliases. Their real names are Golson, Bryant, McDaniel, and Folston. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Owl team was swept over the precipice at Notre Dame Stadium this afternoon as 80,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plastic below.

I have ND 1 and Rice 3 in a square pool. 41-3 sounds nice, with a halftime of 21-3.

My brother, a Rice grad, will be watching this one with me. A true house divided this weekend. I respect the Owls, they are one of the good guys, so I don't think we go for the jugular and just drop a Michigan on them. I see it 41- 20 ish.

How many times has Kelly cracked 50 points here? Just 3 times I think.

I think he makes a statement with all the academic questions going on. 52-17.
