Sound like both of our QBs have something to prove.

Rice is turning the offense over to Driphus Jackson, who backed up Taylor McHargue for the past two seasons. Jackson relieved McHargue late in the home opener last year, and guided the Owls for a touchdown in a 23-14 win over Kansas. Jackson went 5 of 16 for 50 yards with an interception last season.

"He has patiently waiting his turn for three years," Bailiff said of Jackson. "Every time we've put him into a game, he's been ready, he's performed. It's really been a seamless transition. Driphus has a complete understanding of the offense, his leadership transcends this football team. He's a total package for us."

Jackson solidified the starting job in the spring and will have experienced receivers to help him along. Senior Jordan Taylor led the Owls with 55 catches for 848 yards in 2013 and Dennis Parks made 29 catches for 508 yards.

It would be great if we could get a dude like LongSufferingOwl each week for our next opponent...he's been awesome. It's more likely we end up with trolls.

22 freshmen and sophomores, and that's not including Jarron Jones, CJ Prosise, or John Turner. Holy shit.

Y'all best be ready to go when the gun goes off. We came out and hit Marshall in the mouth and were up 14-0 before they knew what hit them. We were up 7-0 on M State before they woke up, with a little help from the stripes. We tend to come out of the blocks quickly.

I was just thinking the other day... 'Rice, God bless them, should be a "W" for us, unless they have a 'get out the gate quick' thing I'm not aware of'... thank you for that....

We talkin bout Marshall? Not Notre Dame..we talkin bout Marshall. ..in my best AI voice

ALSO, sounded like Miss st. was trying to spot you points because they went on a 44-0 run following that....so again

I should have spelled it out for those who don't want to do any research. We were double digit dogs in both games. Both teams had experienced QBs that ran the spread. We contained Marshalls, not M States. M State was ranked about where y'all are now at the end of the season last year as opposed to the beginning of the season. I know you're not freakin Marshall, but I don't think you SEC material now. Especially in the first game with lots of unproven qualities of new coordinators and players. M State had played Auburn to 3 points last year.

It's great to be able to join your board and discuss our teams back and forth. Our board welcomes all comers. SECRant wouldn't approve me until the morning of game day. Bunch of wimps that couldn't hold their own in a match of wits. Too bad our team could hold their own on the field. Come join our board as well!

Would also be great to have y'all come south to play us at home. We'll treat you to some real southern hospitality and some 100 degree heat and humidity!

Yep, we are no Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Mississippi State.... You know, those perennial powers that keep the other half of the conference stacked in Ws.

Yep. If u strictly just watch ESPN for ND news, u would think ND has no talent, Tommy Rees and a NFL schedule.

SECRant is filled with mouth-breathing borderline-retarded children. Even Mgoblog has an intelligent thought every now and then, but SECRant is just awful. It's a headache to read, so filled is it with mindless drivel and grammatical errors. You are better off here...or just hitting yourself in the face with a hammer for a while. Really, anywhere is better than that SEC SEC SEC board.

Notre Dame>>> Miss State... sorry.

Note: I'm known as one of the pessimistic fans here Owl... so I'm far from blind homer.

With that said... they play the games for a reason, Rice could certainly come in and steal one, especially with everything ND is dealing with coming into the season.

When I was growing up, the 90's, Tennessee was a power house. Realistically Florida and Tennessee were the only dominant teams in the SEC. Through in Bama, Auburn and LSU every few years. But, Tennessee and Florida were the dominant teams.
