I just showed this to my girlfriend. She knows I love the Irish. She's put up with it for 4 years now... but she saw me get all giddy. She loved it too. "Who's that? Who's that? Who's that?" she said.
My wife had no clue about my ND passion when we met. First year were married, both sides of the family wanted us to spend it with them on Thanksgiving. Where did we end up? Inside ND stadium watching ND and Air Force! Didn't take her long to get on the bandwagon.

Sounds like ND are going to practice Thursday afternoon at Lansdowne Rugby Club (adjacent to Aviva stadium) if anyone is in town for the game they could probably go and watch I would say

We’ll be rolling into Dublin from Galway sometime Thursday PM. Our hotel is .6 mile from Aviva stadium. If it works out, planning to stroll down there. Flying out of O’Hare this evening and we’re fuckin’ pumped for the Emerald Isle vacation and especially enjoying the Fighting Irish kickoff on Saturday!! Go Irish!

My 2yr old daughter wanted to watch the ND marching band on YouTube. She wanted to watch this video…I am now ready

One thing I took from that video is how much better it looks when the fields are packed with spectators. Something about having fans on the field makes it feel so much bigger and more important, and so much less sterile like an NFL game.

TBH they should be arriving in Dublin today, spending the whole week getting acclimatized and getting some cultural experiences in. The plan they have in place is a way too business trip-ish i think

Originally they were flying Thursday, but after Freeman went on vacation to Hawaii with his family he realized going a day earlier was better.
So they are going a day earlier now.
It’s actually smart.
The night before sleep doesn’t affect your body and performance as much as two nights before. So going to be Thursday in Ireland tired & getting a really good nights’ sleep is more important than even Friday night sleep. Military & high level athletic studies have proven this.
If they flew Thursday, like originally planned, that would have been a horrible night sleep.

Context wise, I believe most NFL teams travel to London Thursday for Sunday game. So Wed for Sat seems right.

The team is also staying the night after the game on Saturday. They didn’t do that in 2012.

I feel like 2012 was at 9 or 10 in the morning US central time. So probably mid-afternoon in Ireland.
Yeah it was definitely 9 or 10 central time, I remember showing up to the local Irish bar with my brothers and doing car bombs with the breakfast sammies the staff had made for us. We ended up staying all day watching football through the night games.

It sure was. We watched Tuitt’s scoop and score from a St Louis hotel that morning before heading to the casino to lose my money in blackjack that early afternoon.

I remember Autry Denson romping thru the middies while I was barely awake so that first ND/Navy Ireland game was really early in the US, 7 AM I think.

Being the first game of the season, the time difference may not mean much once they step on the field.

Nah that's for the fans imo. Players need to be laser focused on making tackles and putting up tuddies not getting distracted by pubs and redheads.

I am going to make a trip to Ireland for a game, at least once in my life.

Out of curiosity for some of you who are going (obviously things will likely be different the next go round), what would be an ideal target for expenses? Flights, tickets, meals, hotel, etc.

I’m just trying to make a plan to set aside some funds to make the next go round doable. I don’t like to just get by, so numbers don’t scare me, if anyone would care to mention.
