I could easily see SEC getting 5 teams in maybe 6. Bama, Georgia, TAM, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss.
Easily 3 from Big: Penn, Oregon, OSU maybe Michigan.
Then Miami, Big12 winner.
It isnt going to be easy. Need big upsets like last season.
This is my worry. If there are bunches of two loss teams from the SEC/Big 10, they will use their media machines to justify leaving Notre Dame out. Bama needs to lose tonight

Before this game I said if we win we're going to make the CFP and if we lose we're missing a bowl. Glad we won! I was most impressed with the defense, seems like they've found something with Zackery and Tae Johnson in the lineup. Smith being back obviously helped a lot too.

10-2 ND doesn’t get left out.

Too many storylines and too many eyeballs for the playoff to pass up.

ND as your TWELVE seed, drawing a game more watched than any other first round game?? They aren’t getting left out.

The rest of college football internet might melt, but the powerbrokers aren’t stupid.

Christ people were bemoaning 9-3 Bama not being included

Goes to show the pressure to try to get SEC teams in due to their seemingly tough schedules. They had one really good win over Georgia. Then also LSU and a few others which looked pretty good wins.
10-2 SEC teams are getting in ahead of ND this year, it is that simple. Possibly even 9-3 teams.

One thing about football is that there can always be drops, missed open throws, turn overs. Good defense can sometimes just be giving the offense no margin for error and not necessarily complete domination.

Make them earn every converted 3rd down and eventually you will get some stops. It won’t take many stops to give ND’s video game offense a chance.
This is a very good point. There weren’t really any huge gash plays like the one post on the opening drive or the QB run that went for 50+.

Look, I’m drinking Sam Adams OctoberFest and I’ve got an unopened 1.75L bottle of Basil Hayden about to be cracked. Trying to keep it real.
Had 2 liters of that Octoberfest at at a festival earlier celebrating both Oktoberfest and the win. I'll wash it down with some ND Teeling later tonight. Prost, my friend.

O'Malley said Tyler James asked him when he thought ND would next score less than 40 in a game this year.

umm... December?

I suppose it's a good thing we crushed Arkansas today then

If ND blows everyone’s doors off like this the rest of the way they’re getting in. A 10-2 ND team that rattled off 10 straight has a lot of built in excuses. Really tough early schedule while breaking in a new QB (even though he wasn’t the issue, the media will still say this). Only lost by 4 total points. New DC and the learning curve that came with it.

It’s all about not dropping a stupid game to Pitt or somebody now.
It kind of was against Miami though. Very conservative game plan was because of this.

Stop with the "oh noes we're 10-2! We won't get in!" nonsense. If we go 10-2 winning 10 straight and losing by 4 to teams that spent time in the Top 10 (phrased with the caveat in mind that even at the end of the season maybe one or both aren't) there is 0% chance we aren't in the playoff having made the championship game last year under similar circumstances.

Some of you really need a diaper change.
I tend to agree with this.

Offense super impressive… about only negative was how they came out to start second half

Defense was the ash defense for first quarter into second. Lbs especially Bowen were terrible. They started turning it on and flying around. Where the heck has that been?

At some point Bowen has to stop being in on passing situations.

Secondary didn’t have any major busts and you can see what tae a don can do together.

Props to the team as a whole

Denbrock was in his bag today.

I've spent years watching other teams making it look easy using the whole field and scoring points quickly. Crazy to watch this offense right now.

As it turns out, when you have a QB that can make throws over the whole field….. you can use the whole field.

Turns out THAT is also good when you have two of the best running backs in the country (with some versatility to boot) and some shifty WR’s out in the pattern.

Fun times!

Is Denbrock a gangster?

Lets please not curse Michael Frederick Denbrock. He loves ND and he's fuckin' kickin' ass at the moment.

That's Kelly for ya.

I’ve felt insane over the years watching middling programs make offense look somewhat easy, and then sitting down for a nice, fun Irish game where it looks like their offense is running through quicksand

Watching CJ make throws to both sides of the field, on the run, deep, etc etc etc, has been a revelation

He truly is the prince who was promised. He’s everything we were told Wimbush, Jurkovec, and Buchner were supposed to be. Day one talent in the spring of ‘27

My wife and I were talking yesterday he's just routinely making throws we haven't had a QB make since maybe Kizer and probably Clausen. And he's got good enough receivers. And the running game.
The only thing that feels like it might hold this offense back is pass protection against better DLs. That was a big problem against Miami, hopefully they have it together for NC State and USC.

N C St is absolutely terrible on defense.
Boise is damn good. They might be the best team remaining we play.

Fair. Usually NC State has a salty D Line, but I haven't paid much attention to them this year.
Does Boise have the dudes to get pressure against an OL like ours? Or are they just G5 good?

That 1st half of football was the most fun and efficient offensive effort I've seen since...I can't even remember when.

Defense looked a little better, which I think is the best we can ask for each week.

Anyone who thinks ND doesn't get in at 10-2 is smoking the good stuff. The question will be do we get a 1st round home game or not, not will we be in or out.

I missed yall's game yesterday as I was dealing with the kids and watching the Ryder Cup. I did watch it though morning, though. A few postgame thoughts - not that you all care ...
  • Brian Kelly sucks
  • LSU sucks
  • CJ Carr is truly the real deal. I know Arkansas's defense isn't anything special, but his talent level is off the charts. I'd take him over most quarterbacks out there.
  • Love is a beast. He's so versatile...he is the closest player to Reggie Bush that I've seen in a while
  • Price continues to dominate. His ability to bounce it outside for a huge gain is incredible. Once he gets the corner, teams can't stop him.
  • Fields was a phenomenal pick up. He's a top WR. Faison played really well
  • It was awesome to see Greathouse get back in there. He made a hell of a catch on the sideline.
  • Y'all know I rave over Aneyas Williams. It was good to see him get in the endzone.
  • That fake punt was executed flawlessly. Kinda wonder why they burned it, but I assume they have other things in the works.
  • The defense, whatever they did over the week, worked very well. I believe I predicted something like 45-24 Notre Dame ... Notre Dame's defense really came to play. Whether that was Ash, Freeman, Mickens ... I don't know, but they need to be commended because I think Arkansas has a really good offense. If Notre Dame's defense is capable of playing to that level, consistently, they'll win out and rightfully get into the CFP.
  • That's a big win. You guys did Sam Pittman dirty, though. That man didn't deserve that.
