Attended game. Nice contingent of Irish fans. Friendly environment.
Arkansas fans never got into the game; massive fan exodus in 3rd quarter.
Still a lot of wide open receivers, and little pressure.
Surprised we didn't run more, but passing was there all game.
Didn't notice any ND injuries.
Did we even punt?
Hope we keep momentum going forward. Will be attending SC game.
Same. Met an ND fan from Austin in the concessions line. Good dude. Said he had season tix. It’s absolutely amazing how many ND fans there are strewn across the 50 states & beyond. Doubly amazing that most of them (like most of us) aren’t alumni. That goes for most schools by the way, however; ND’s acceptance rate is so low that if they had to rely on alums only as a fanbase they’d be a D3 level school.

He was a good OL coach at UGA, if I remember right. I don't think he's ever been an OC or DC at a D1 program though. Looking at his wikipedia, he's only been OL or HC for the entirety of his career in college.
He’s renowned as an OL Coach but I suspect he’s had his fill of coaching and is going to head down to Hot Springs & drink an “Ole cold beer” by the lake.

Thanks for posting this. It brings back memories of my dad who was a faithful subscriber to BGI since the 80s. He’d pay for the USPS upgrade to get the latest issue ASAP. I remember when it was Lou Somogyi (RIP), Tim Prister & Pete Sampson covering ND for them.

I missed yall's game yesterday as I was dealing with the kids and watching the Ryder Cup. I did watch it though morning, though. A few postgame thoughts - not that you all care ...
  • Brian Kelly sucks
  • LSU sucks
  • CJ Carr is truly the real deal. I know Arkansas's defense isn't anything special, but his talent level is off the charts. I'd take him over most quarterbacks out there.
  • Love is a beast. He's so versatile...he is the closest player to Reggie Bush that I've seen in a while
  • Price continues to dominate. His ability to bounce it outside for a huge gain is incredible. Once he gets the corner, teams can't stop him.
  • Fields was a phenomenal pick up. He's a top WR. Faison played really well
  • It was awesome to see Greathouse get back in there. He made a hell of a catch on the sideline.
  • Y'all know I rave over Aneyas Williams. It was good to see him get in the endzone.
  • That fake punt was executed flawlessly. Kinda wonder why they burned it, but I assume they have other things in the works.
  • The defense, whatever they did over the week, worked very well. I believe I predicted something like 45-24 Notre Dame ... Notre Dame's defense really came to play. Whether that was Ash, Freeman, Mickens ... I don't know, but they need to be commended because I think Arkansas has a really good offense. If Notre Dame's defense is capable of playing to that level, consistently, they'll win out and rightfully get into the CFP.
  • That's a big win. You guys did Sam Pittman dirty, though. That man didn't deserve that.
Fork, I feel for ya. Just trade in that purple for some blue & gold.

RE: the fake punt. Biagi states that they have a specific fake for each opponent so if it’s not used vs that opponent, it never gets used. He’s a witch.

I still get it delivered. Something to look forward to every week.

One thing I really like about Freeman is he will give many players a chance. I’m guessing if he feels someone’s effort or impact is going stale he will put someone new in like Mullins and Hughes. Didn’t recall seeing Hinish that much. We have seen his ceiling and it’s not good enough. Wonder what it would look like without Bowen in there for a week. Getting Joe Schmidt vibes.

Thought I read where Hinish got hurt in the pregame warmup.

Petrino just fired three defensive coaches. Interim? He’s got a plan.
I’m thinking he’s not going to win enough to get the permanent gig but he’s certainly going to try

Dont know if anyone has seen it, but couldn't get to sleep last night so I was flipping through movies on Tubi and came across Greater. It's about Brandon Burlsworth who was an offensive lineman for the Hogs, drafted to the Colts, and was killed in a car accident. Pretty good movie if you get a chance to watch it

My wife loves that movie. I think it's pretty good too, definitely worth a watch.

I was at least as excited receiving BGI in the mail as I was for the actual games. Dad was subscribed back in the Faust years, and I started reading every word as soon as Holtz was hired. It was just Tim and Lou at that point. Great publication when those folks were running it.

They definitely had drops. I believe everyone including myself joked about it in the game thread in the moment. But Goolsby tweet is not accurate, for dramatic effect I assume.

First one was first play. ND brings 6. Gray is in stride but behind a drag route. Throw is high. This is the defense everyone wants! Pressure the QB. Cover in man close enough. QB will make a mistake.

The next I assume is the third down sideline overturn. Green throw was wide and WR didn’t catch it.

The second down “drop” I just don’t even know what he’s talking about. Nobody busted unless it was way away from the play. Green can’t find anyone open so he tries to loft a crosser over Shuler and it’s high and not caught. Not a drop or a bust.

Third down the RB completely dropped a swing pass. It wasn’t a bust though. Shuler had a long ways to travel in man and may not have made it in time to make the play. But he didn’t bust.

The play according to Goolsby is a busted coverage with a drop.

I think you’re on to something. Goolsby is posting for subs. I respect he’s a former ND player but I’m not naive enough to think folks like him & Zaire aren’t trying to make some kaysh. Which is fine by me but I take them w/ a grain of salt.

Before I kickoff, I got the opportunity to meet the AD Pete Bevaqua. Really engaging guy & made plenty of time for any fan who wanted to take a pic or just say hello. I loved they ended our brief meeting w/ a “We gotta have this game”
