Here’s an interesting question... Bama only plays, and has only played, two more teams currently ranked in LSU (23) and Auburn (19). It’s possible that both, one, or even none will be ranked in the final polls. For the sake of being in the middle, let’s say only one remains ranked and Bama goes undefeated. But then they go to the SEC title game and lose to UGA. They wouldn’t go in over an 11-1 Notre Dame would they?

Nope especially if Georgia whoops that ass.

Of course they would, they're Bama.

If ND gets in over Bama, the South would secede, and we'd have another "War of Northern Aggression."

Kinda how I feel.
Our best win is still a loss, and will probably be that way all season.
We play a tougher schedule than any of the one-loss teams, and - at this rate - have a more impressive body of work. But, come December, we're probably not going to have a win over a top ten team, and Ohio State and Oklahoma probably will.
That's going to hurt us in the playoff rankings.

I see this being like every other "committee" Cluster F%^*& I have ever seen. People will have reams of data, but reality is, the loudest most obnoxious voices with the least data backing their opinions will get their way...it is the way of people...shrug.

I think it would depend on how dominant we'd looked against LSU & Auburn, and how close the SECCG against Georgia was, plus how strongly you guys close out. If Bama loses a close one to UGA and you guys limp to 11-1, then probably so. Finish strong and UGA hammers us, you get in over us.

Michigan state losing hurts. They still have penn st and Ohio st which means they won’t end year in top 25. Need usc to keep winning and Stanford. I think if Miami is still undefeated when we play them and we take them to the woodshed, that will stick in the PC minds

It's highly unlikely Miami is undefeated when we go into town. USC beating down Arizona helped since everyone thought USC was weak. We need USC, and Mich St to keep winning.

It'd help if the rest of our foes kept winning as well. NC State is a shit talking team but I hope they continue plowing through the ACC.

This isnt what I think it should be but what I expect to see from the Committee:
Bama
UGA
Wisc
OSU
Clemson
PSU
ND

At this point in time I dont think there will be major shakeups of current rankings. Much of it will shake out as long as ND keeps winning. If they are 5-6 now they have a good chance to continue moving up. I expect to be 5-7 in the CFP poll.

IMO, Wisco won't be in the top 4. They have not played anyone worth a top 30 look, including their home win against Northwestern. Meatchickens at home is the closest thing to a challenge the rest of their season prior to the B1G playoffs. I don't expect Clemson to be ahead of ND either. My guess is ND will be either 4th or 5th.

These are valid points. I am skeptical about the CFPC and ND. Hopefully I am wrong and we enter their poll where we deserve to be.

ZERO chance on Penn State. Absolutely none.

Cack, voters were hesitant on ND lately even when good, because we'd win, but we'd sneak by and never dominate people.

we're dominating people this year, in the most fool proof way possible: Rushing and great defense. Theyre smart enough to know this type of power translates all year long, it's not some passing game with average defense that can show up week to week.

PSU's loss is the same as ours. Compare their 3 biggest wins against ours?

We're about to get some love. I guarantee you were not lower than 4.

at this point, I'm not concerned at all about NDs opponents winning, or possibly being left out if we win out. we're in no matter what, it will shake out, it always does.

I'm interested in who we'd play. I really don't want to see bama, Georgia, or osu. no one else scares me.

I hope PSU somehow sneaks in, Oklahoma, and I don't think there's any avoiding the sec... but I'll be rooting hard for osu/georgia/bama to get knocked out, and for Oklahoma/psu to keep winning. Or TCU/Oklahoma State. basically anyone from the big 12.

I agree Koon-In the recent past, ND has not dominated. They've had to come back against teams in the end of games against teams they should have beat down. This year it's domination. Voters have taken a wait and see approach this year but based on ESPN "experts", they are no longer waiting. Just about everyone has ND at #3 and I believe one has the team at #4.

I would be shocked if ND isn't at #3 in the initial playoff rankings.

FTR my post wasnt what I believe about this team. Its my battered wife skeptical assessment of college football considering we came off a 4-8 season and are trying to rationalize being included as on par with blue bloods who have been consistent and successful. ND has been neither.

Personally I feel we are in the top 4 but I am skeptical that the rest of the nation or committee is willing to make that assessment yet. They would be safe in putting us at 5-7 and letting things work out.

Also FTR I have maintained that an 11-1 ND would have a hard time getting in with the exception that they are a strong top 4 team. IMO we are that team but it remains to be seen if the committee is convinced yet.

The coaches poll is always bad and I never pay attention to it. You ask dudes with tremendous personal stake in the rankings, who have to submit a ballet hours after their own game and haven’t watched a single other game from the week, and who don’t have time to watch games that don’t involve opponents to rank teams—an endeavor that is hard and controversial given the opportunity to watch every game every weekend.

Wow-Coaches poll is about as ridiculous as an Amway rally.

How is good is Miami? I know they're 7-0, but they don't really seem that good to me.
