I think they are only slow to people expecting Star Wars pew pew pew explosion. Watching the first couple episodes again I would enjoy them 100% more knowing how good this show is.
Yes—early episodes set up some great payoffs and very satisfying character development later on. Every shot is intentional.

ANDOR SPOILERS and a question about the post-credit:

The post-credit showed a nearly-completed Death Star waiting for the weapon's 'dish' to be fully constructed, as worker droids install the "X" braces we saw the prisoners producing. Rogue One showed a very similar visual, with the 'dish' being put into place.

Andor is 5 years from Rogue One... are we to infer that the prison break is about to cause a shutdown of the dish construction, and the Death Start sits at 99% completion for 5 years? Or are we supposed to make the jump that the Death Star THEN waits ~5 years for enough Kiber Crystals out of Jedda?

Don't get me wrong, the post-credit was cool as hell, and shows the contradictory small/large part the prisoners played in the construction of the Death Star, and the Rogue One visual of the final touches being put on the Death Star was ALSO cool as hell... but I'm thinking this was a near-continuity error for the sake of cool visuals, rather than a sign of impending production problems lol.

Andor was okay. Pretty solid. I think the bar is so low for Star Wars due to Disney's bullshit that people are incorrectly anointing this as top notch drama though. I'd respectfully disagree. Star Wars stuff tends to still feel like you're on a roller coaster named Plot Armor.

Just more evidence that the overarching goal of Disney shouldn't have been to reinvent the wheel, the goal should have been to just not fuck it up. Star Wars is cool enough as it is that if you just don't step on your own dick by hiring awful writers, you will be fine.

You should watch it. It's the best Star Wars since Rogue One.

The list of appreciable Star Wars content since Disney bought Lucasfilm:

1. Rogue One
2. Andor
3. The Mandalorian

Thats it.
Andor is just basically Rogue One with characters that we're actually given a reason to care about.

Younglings. To avoid saying 'killed all the children'.

Such a horrible trilogy. It's so bad, it's hilarious. I encourage everyone to drink a couple of beers and watch the Redletter media Mr. Plinkett review of the prequels. It might be the funniest thing I've ever scene.

Always one of those "what could have been" feels for me. If you look at the Star Wars movies, George Lucas created the story of course, but the screenplay for Empire and Return of the Jedi were actually written by people that weren't Lucas. And of course, Lucas wrote the screenplays and directed for the prequels, hence the shitty dialogue. If only someone had gotten through to Lucas that "Hey dude, you can create fantastic stories, but maybe leave the actually screenwriting/directing to people who don't suck ass at writing."
