Am I the only one who shed a tear when the Luke reveal happened? That goddamn Binary Sunset crescendo, I tell you. Gets me every time.
Rocket knights and laser swords. It's not complicated.
Amazing that Jon Favreau is the only person at Disney who understands Star Wars. Defenestrate Kennedy and give him anything he wants to take over for her.

As far as tying this into the Last trilogy they are gonna have to tell a huge important story that will ultimately lead Luke to the place he was TLJ for it to make sense. I have no idea what could happen to Luke to make him be the person Rian made him.

The rise of the First Order creates more and more tension as they try to find him, putting his loved ones in danger.
Then the disaster with his revamped academy... rather than giving in to his fear for the lives of the ones he loves like Anakin did, he removes himself from danger. It makes total sense to me, even without any of the new Disney stuff needing to lead us there.
I’m honestly hoping they continue to treat the Mandalorian as a jumping-off point for all of their other IP.
It was already a great intro to Ahsoka Tano’s spin-off, Boba Fett’s spin-off, and likely some Thrawn stuff. They’ll get a soft reset next season where you don’t have to worry about the fate of the Child, and they can now focus on Din Djarin dealing with home-world drama, while the action keeps touching on the remnants of the Empire moving towards becoming the First Order.

Declaring the sequel trilogy non-canonical is the only way forward.

There are actually some legitimate rumors that a reboot may happen. I wouldn’t expect it for at least 5 years though.

I watch way to much nerd YouTube, and that seems to be the rumor. Doing kind of a MCU alternate universe type of thing.
Edit: Didn't see Lax post the exact same thing.

On the advice of Star Wars nerd-friends of mine, I watched Clone Wars. I skimmed the episodes, so I'd say I caught about 2/3 of the total. I mainly focused on the Mandalore/Maul/Ahsoka storylines. Boy, those last four episodes of season 7 were fantastic.
Now I'm doing the same with Rebels. Really entertaining stuff.
I've been watching clone wars in the chronological order. I have maybe 10-15 episodes left. Good stuff. Certainly some episodes here and there that should have been cut, but overall very enjoyable. They also make the prequels more palatable.
Anytime I stumbled upon an episode with Jar Jar in it, I just noped right out.
I’d recommend watching all of them except the JarJar episodes. There is a ton of good world building in both Clone Wars and Rebels you will miss out on if you skip too much.On the advice of Star Wars nerd-friends of mine, I watched Clone Wars. Building on that MCU thing, I read something the other day about Thrawn essentially being the Thanos.
All (or most) of the current Star Wars projects will intersect in Avengers-type fashion. I haven't read the new novels that are canon, but I'm assuming Thrawn plays a large role in the remnants of the Empire becoming the First Order out in the unknown regions...
I could see an over-arching story where some characters are actively fighting against him to try and stop him, while others are simply affected by what he's doing. In the end, maybe they defeat him while experiencing some heartbreak along the way, but the damage is done as the First Order is shown gathering in a post-credits somewhere, leading into a reboot of the new trilogy.

While I would happily sign up for that plan, I'd much rather them build towards Thrawn being the main bad guy of the actual trilogy. How much better are the sequels is you substitute Snoke and Hux with Thrawn??
