MSU has put together some nice teams tgoing after kids who, to put it respectfully, couldn't academically get into U of M or ND. I put it disrespectfully that is also why they have a history of behavioral issues with the players. They shop down a very different isle then ND and UofM
I’m aware. And I guess that works for them.

I’m just saying that it’s a better-than-average P5 job. I’d probably rank it comparable to Nebraska and Wisconsin and Iowa in the second tier of the “old” Big Ten. You won’t win a natty at Michigan State but you can win some games and you will be well-paid and likely afforded some time to build a program - unless you commit career suicide after a bad season and give them grounds to can your ass.

Wisconsin is a much easier place to win. No in-state recruiting competition, a better university, and a more fun town.

So that means no buyout money?
Go to the end of the article.

In firing Tucker with cause, Michigan State won't be required to owe Tucker roughly $80 million that remained from a contract extension that was signed during the 2021 season

The report seems to strongly indicate they have cause.

Well, they fired him before the hearing or report so I don't think they can lean on any of these findings for their case.

Instead, they will have to root it in undisputed facts; i.e. Tucker's own statements and admitted conduct.

There was an opportunity to "weigh" conflicting pieces of evidence but they skipped over it.

Even if they have cause you know he’ll file suit and they’ll settle where he walks away with about a year’s salary

Rumors in Lansing this morning are that Urban to MSU is a done deal. Announcement to come before season end. Obviously, FWIW.

They hoping to not get slammed for this because of the Michigan shit going on? You’re literally hiring a man who was groping a younger woman while married less than a year ago after firing a married man who was trying to get intimate with a sexual assault advocate…

Just beyond slimy.

MSU going all in with the philosophy of Just Win, Baby.

Tuck's biggest transgression was the on field results. Factor in the dumb contract they gave him and it was the recipe for them not being willing to deal with his other issue.

Always felt the new contract was a knee jerk reaction and mistake. CFB is littered with coaches that had very good results in the first year, then fizzled out after.

I’ll laugh if it ends up being true. He’s said multiple times that he would never go back to college because he would never want to recruit against his beloved OSU*.It’ll drive everyone down here nuts.

*And yes, we all know he’s a liar.

Well TBF he won’t be recruiting against OSU much. A bit of a shopping down a different aisle situation

Wut? Please clarify because I don't understand what you mean.

I am not talking different aisle in the BK sense, I am talking different aisle in the sense OSU is recruiting 5 stars and typically top 250 guys while MSU is recruiting guys outside the top 250. Sure, there will be minor overlap sometimes- and MSU will lose those battles. The overlap of who Urban would be recruiting were he to coach MSU verses who OSU is recruiting is minimal, and if he were actually true to his word that he didn't want to recruit against his beloved OSU, he wouldn't have to and I doubt it would have any impact on the end result.

Thanks for the clarification, 100% disagree.

If Urban gets MSU built back up, he'll have a huge amount of overlap with the top regional kids who also have tOSU offers. If he's able to replicate what he did tOSU, he'll be after the big boys.

Of course there'll be limits on top recruits being interested in MSU to begin with but after a season or two of success, they'll be another big time midwestern draw. I hope for everyone's sake, it's not true.

And if it is true, I hope this is where Urban finally fails to build a program up.

Urban will get many of the transfers, regionally, right away. This won't be a 3 year build.

I disagree with you (respectfully!), but I want to comment on the note of another big time midwestern draw. I still don't think that impacts OSU or ND that much for my previous stated reason about OSU, and I just don't think many kids that are truly cut out for ND are choosing MSU and Urban over ND. If anything, I think it impacts UM the most with in-state kids and then their usual recruiting rivals like Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, etc. There is a lot of overlap in who those schools recruit. The one wrench is all this is if they decide to go full Texas A&M and drop bags. This is certainly a possibility given how they've treated NIL thus far.

I do feel this is a lot of discussion about nothing. Reading the MSU boards, any real insiders don't seem to be giving much of any credence to the Urban talk.
