Any reason Saban would dislike Harbaugh? I don't recall many prior meetings between the two off the top of my head.

https://www.montgomeryadvertiser.co...augh-alabama-football-citrus-bowl/2790396001/

In 2016, Saban ripped Harbaugh's satellite camps.

"I don't know how much it benefits anybody because all the people that say this is creating opportunities for kids, this is all about recruiting," Saban said at the Southeastern Conference's annual meeting. "That's what it's about. ... What's amazing to me is somebody didn't stand up and say here's going to be the unintended consequences of what you all are doing."

"There needs to be somebody that looks out for what's best for the game, not what's best for the Big Ten or what's best for the SEC or what's best for Jim Harbaugh, but what's best for the game of college football," Saban added.

Then, Harbaugh fired back on Twitter, tweeting, "'Amazing' to me- Alabama broke NCAA rules & now their HC is lecturing us on the possibility of rules being broken at camps. Truly 'amazing.'"

A few years ago, didn't he hold a camp down in SEC land and make some disparaging comment about the SEC or Bama?

it also likely due to Najee Harris' recruitment..michigan was trying to flip him late in the game and when he was down at the aa game, he got a flight right to bama instead of going home where michigan could have continued to work to get his committment...there was some drama between the 2

wonder how this season changes things? This was supposed to be the year. Ranked preseason. Harbaugh has "his" qb. Turned out pretty much like last year. The game with Alabama went pretty much as scripted. Didn't they get trucked by Florida last year?
Watching that game I really wished McGrone was Irish.

It's such a hard pill to swallow that killing ND is the thread Harbaugh is able to hang on to.

Everyone else worth a damn beats Michigan/Harbaugh.

I know Harbaugh has *itched about SEC bias too (haven't we all). And I know he got into a pretty well-publicized spat with Finebaum in 2017 about the SEC

An article in the Detroit Free Press details how under Harbaugh they are "stuck in neutral". Selections:

The Wolverines are a good bet to win between nine and 10 games each season, but never 11.

They will fall short of Indianapolis and the Big Ten title game.

They will lose to their biggest rival, Ohio State.

In even years, they’ll beat both Wisconsin and Penn State and in odd ones fall to the same two schools.

They will dominate the teams they’re expected to beat and never prevail when they’re underdogs, as they were again on Wednesday against Alabama in the Citrus Bowl.

Against opponents favored to beat them, the Wolverines are 0-10 under Harbaugh.

The Wolverines simply do not defy expectations — becoming the ultimate reflection of a coach whose staid gameday wardrobe of khakis and navy blue Michigan hat never changes. Jim Harbaugh was decked out in that standard-issue outfit as he watched the Wolverines lose, 35-16, to a superior team.

I can't see us doing this to Michigan:

Alabama scores one last unnecessary touchdown vs. Michigan in Citrus Bowl

Harbaugh has ran his mouth a lot about the SEC since returning to Michigan. Then he came and set up shop with his camp in Prattville, Al a few years back. That didn't really get him the recruits he thought he would get. He left as much of an outsider to HS coaches and players as he was before he came. Throw in the N. Harris recruiting battle as well as Saban wanting to send a message more to everyone else that he still has a little fire left in him. I was just happy he could send it at the expense of Michigan and Harbaugh. He was a prick when he would come down and see his dad when he was coaching at my alma mater and he's still a prick today.

For the record, I didn't really have much interest in the game as I wanted to see more younger guys play but it's hard not to pass up seeing Harbaugh get his ass handed to him and seeing Michigan fans cry.

F*ck Michigan and F*uck Harbaugh.

In addition to the previously stated reasons why Saban punched it in to turn the knife a little more on Harbaugh, we all know Harbaugh would’ve done the same thing.

Don’t know how they’ll fare next year but I do suspect they’ll get better play from Dylan McCaffrey vs what we saw in the Shea Patterson era. He was vastly overrated and never came close to fulfilling the hype.

Counting the 2020 signees, Michigan is at 88 scholarship players before any further announcements on transfers or Early Entrants. Ruiz, C, is expected to declare. They were at this number last year after NSD and ended up giving four walk-ons scholarships after attrition.

They have one further realistic 2020 commit - Green-Warren, WR.

Reportedly, they are looking at the Transfer Portal for Stanford grad transfers Michael Williams, DT, and Devery Hamilton, OL.

All that's left of their 2016 Class of twenty-seven enrollees are four players - Kemp and Dwumbour, DTs, Eubanks, TE, and Chris Evans, RB, who has been reinstated. Perhaps they are looking at Williams to replace one of their starting DTs? Last year, fourteen Michigan players entered the Transfer Portal and left for another school. This year only five players so far have entered the 2020 TP.

Seventeen of the thirty enrollees from the Class of 2017 remain on their roster.

Add a transfer in - Ed Warinner, ILB
Subtract a transfer out - Michael Dwumfour, DT - who will spend his fifth year elsewhere.
Quinn Nordin, K and Carlo Kemp, DT will return for their fifth years. Kemp played one game in his freshman season, burning a redshirt under the rules at the time. He applied for a NCAA waiver.

Michigan currently has eighty-five players on scholarship.

Juicy:

In the August of 2019, first-year offensive coordinator Josh Gattis jokingly references his starting quarterback spending too much time on the golf course during the summer, a comment that carried much more serious undertones behind the scenes. In fact, the players send a message, not electing senior Shea Patterson captain.*

"There wasn't a lot we could do because Shea was our starting quarterback, but we wanted to let him and our coaches know we weren't happy with his work in the summer - both Joe [Milton] and Dylan [McCaffrey] outworked him, and then Coach immediately went against our decision and named him a captain," a recent departure shared. "Guys weren't happy."

Did it finally sink in for the UM faithful that Khaki Pants isn't all that as a coach and will never get them to the elite level?

On the recruiting front, they've also lost two of their better recruiters, Chris Partridge and Anthony Campanile. Those guys specifically have had a lot of success with East Coast/NE prospects. I could see that impacting the Spring and Summer recruiting as they get new assistants into those regions. Doubt either will have the pull that those guys did right away.

So basically Harbaugh gave the team and his OC the middle finger.

UM has been pretty proactive so far. I'm not sure this means a lot unless they covered it up or were overly permissive. There are bad actors everywhere---what matters is how the institution handles it once they are made aware.

More details have leaked out. Including driving the ADs car, slurring his words an stumbling around after the accident and giving a false name. No police citation and now the Police Chief is on admin leave...

What accident and who was involved? The article I clicked on you quoted MNIrishman responding to was about the Provost’s suspension for sexual assault.

He's talking about the starting point guard getting in a car accident (likely under the influence) while driving the AD's wife's car. When discovered, he gave a false name.

He had been suspended for like a single game or one week or something like that before going back to starting for the team.
