Give me a win over UGA please. On a national level, brings a lot more respect than a win over scUM.

Get out.
I'm with the other guys but I'm obviously bias due to living among these awful skunkbears.
Seriously though, was the author too stupid to have brushed over ND with the academic standards being too tough excuse, or was he that naive to think no one would call him out on it?
The guy who wrote the book is essentially a Michigan propagandist. He IS the kool-aid.
It’s funny. I used to grudgingly respect Michigan. They were arrogant but at least did try (more than most) to do things the right way. But since Harbaugh got there they’ve become so, so self-righteous about it all.

Says the guy from Atlanta. More like a win in your backyard and makes going to work easier...
Pfft. A win over UGA might mean more, but a loss to Michigan is embarrassing. There's no embarrassment losing to UGA unless it's by 40. Michigan does petty shit like play the Chicken Dance if they win too. Fuck 'em.
Just beat them both. Problem solved.
Fuck Michigan...one of the other posts from Staples came from a Michigan guy that said "Don't lump Michigan and ND together. ND vacated wins and Michigan never has." Yes, Michigan is the bastion of morality. That's why they let Brendan Gibbons continue to play for their team for several years while covering up his rape, and they did nothing to punish Taylor Lewan who had threatened the victim with more rape if she came forward with her story. Notre Dame is evil though cause they self reported and dismissed a few players for some academic infractions.
Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan has been suspended four games for violating NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Friday.
Lewan acknowledged last month that he had tested positive for the banned substance ostarine but said he would appeal the results. He also posted apparent polygraph results on Instagram to indicate he didn't knowingly use a banned substance.
He became the league's highest-paid offensive lineman last season after signing a five-year, $80 million deal that included $50 million guaranteed.
The Titans open the season with a tough stretch of games that includes the Browns, Colts, Jaguars and Falcons.

I'll paraphrase and save you the clicking, but in essence the discussion began with saying ND and Michigan probably won't play again for another decade because of prior commitments on both sides. It then snowballs from there. Lot of scUM fans saying "Good, we don't need the Irish, they need us," especially the more recent comments.
When have we ever needed Michigan? Maybe 100+ years ago we could have used their help in getting to the Western Conference (Predecessor to the B1G), but we obviously did not need them in the end as we forged our own path and became a house hold name because we didn't join. Rather than help us get in, Yost blackballed us because he hated Catholics. He refused to schedule Notre Dame after the Wolverines got beaten by the Irish. Years later Michigan wanted a pay day and decided to reopen the rivalry. Later on Crisler gets beaten by the Irish and they quit scheduling us again for 30 years, and Crisler tries to get Michigan State and Purdue to drop us too (And of course they don't, which is hilarious). Then Jack decides to take a short break so we can straighten out the new ACC scheduling, they pull the stupid Chicken Dance act in the Big House before we absolutely wax them 37-0 to end that series. If any team has proven to be chicken, it's been the Wolverines.
In any case, this is why the Michigan game is a must win. The arrogance cannot go unchecked, they're asking for another whippin'. They just want to beat us this year and leave the discussion in their favor for the next decade. We don't need Michigan, we never did. They think our schedule depends on it, but top to bottom we have no problem scheduling tough teams year to year. Last I checked Michigan hasn't been to the big dance in 20+ years, hasn't sniffed the playoff, and it's been 15 years since they won a conference championship. Most the players on their team were toddlers or in Kindergarten when that happened...but yeah, we need them more than they need us.

No way, never. You've got it all wrong. There are rivals, and there are enemies. USC Trojans are our rivals, Michigan Skunkbears are the ememy. You respect your rivals, you do not respect your enemy. Sure, there were times I hated USC during the Petey days. I wanted the success that USC was experiencing. Michigan? No way, fuck 'em. Even when they fell off into mediocrity they would come into South Bend and act like the owned the place, like they were still the talk of the town. Their arrogance knows no bounds. I've seen some hospitable fans come to campus (Utah, Nebraska, military academies being the best) and I've seen some garbage roll in. Michigan fans are the bottom of the barrel. They've been more humble in recent years, they're not picking fights on campus like they used to, but I'd rather have Georgia come back with all their beer bottle/can littering than have Michigan back on campus.
Looks like UM lost an OT for the season, was going to be their main backup.
And another OL guy is out a few weeks too (Runyan, should be back by the Wisy game).

A win is a win. scum is nothing special and not really a rival any longer. They should feel the same about us.
Arrogant? MANY ND fans have that in spades. scum is just another team to me...nothing special and off the schedule after this year.

Agree. While most of us agree they appear to be overrated. Beating a 7th ranked scUM team on their turf is a hell of a lot more important than beating Bowling Green at home.
Michigan may not be the team they once were, but that doesn't mean the rivalry is dead. We're gonna do this dance till the world ends, there will never been a scenario where beating Michigan doesn't mean something. They tried to screw us over right from the start. There's no respect there, and there's none given in return. They could completely fall off and perpetually be a B1G bottom feeder and that wouldn't change things for many Irish fans. There's also the all time winning percentage to think about. So, for those reasons we owe it to the skunkbears to throttle them whenever we have the opportunity.
