Harbaugh probably already slid into Shea's DMs in response to the tweet: "Hey QB1, saw your tweet. Why don't you swing by Wednesday evening, we'll clear the air on this situation. Don't forget your jammies and sleeping bag."

Looks like the guy who made it does this kind of thing. I'm leaning towards fake.

But Fuck Michigan regardless.

And looked more composed than Shea in limited reps, too.

From what I have heard from a good portion of the MI fans I know is that they like Shea, but can’t wait for Mccaffrey to be the guy. Good poise and the kid has some wheels. I’m sure part is good news they have heard on him and the other part just his last name. They definitely do not have any lack of depth at the QB spot. Barring anything crazy happening they should have a solid QB 1 for quite awhile with the depth and current commits they have.

"Harbaugh wary of mental health use in waivers"
https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27224299/harbaugh-wary-mental-health-use-waivers

Interesting take here from Harbrah. He states that players should probably be allowed to transfer wherever they want as an undergrad and play immediately for the first transfer, after a first transfer you would have to sit (Nothing unreasonable really given all the BS we've seen with transfer waivers in recent years). His reasoning being that lots of players now are using mental health as an excuse to get an NCAA waiver and play immediately.

One of his own players, James Hudson, asked to transfer and cited mental health as the reason. Hudson and his mother both vocally took issue with Harbaugh's statement as they both stated to the coach while he was on the team that the kid was suffering from depression. Hudson's waiver was denied however because Michigan claims the mental health issue never came up prior to his decision to transfer. Sounds like some shady stuff to me. Doesn't really sound like Harbrah cares about mental health if this is true.

I would imagine by the middle of the third quarter on October 26 they should get their wish.

This mental health thing could be the beginning of the end of Harbro. Failing to win the big ones or beat Ohio State hasn't done him any favors yet, but this mental health issue could begin his exit the same way Zach Smith was for Urban.

For a smaller market team with a less known HC, I would be in agreement, but in his case I have a hard time seeing that happen, unfortunately. Which is asinine because there is irrefutable, scientific evidence at this point linking competitive football and mental health issues.

But the reality is, scUM really dug themselves in a hole with the amount of money and power they've given Harbaugh. I mean, Hoke literally got fired for basically the same results that Harbaugh has produced so far in four seasons. Harbaugh has seven more wins in 4 years, but has a worse record against rivals than Hoke did during that same time span, and an abysmal record against top-25 teams.

Yet we have heard no rumblings from anyone within their athletic department about the seat heating up. Maybe a few fans, but they are outnumbered by Harbaugh-excusers on the radio waves here as well. Man can do no wrong. "It's only been four years! He will right this ship, just have to give him more time." or the classic: "he could be better, but who else will we hire? There's no one better we could bring here. We have to ride this thing out."

I think they are scared to admit that they thought they hired their savior, but if HARBAUGH HIMSELF can't return their program to the glory days, they have literally no idea who to turn to.

Moral of the story: they will make up excuses for this story like they've made up excuses for his on the field results so far.

Even though we are all waiting for the day that Jimmy Harbaugh gets the hook, and we can bask in the glory of that pompous fan base running around like chickens with their heads cut off, I think it's a long ways away, and wouldn't be surprised if it ends with Harbaugh leaving on his own terms, despite this story and his above-average results.

copy paste of Wolverine fan's comment from Reddit on the latest 247 update

Michigan’s class is not looking so hot at the moment

Braiden McGregor went from 28th —> 107th

Jordan Morant went from 47th —> 115th

Kalel Mulling went from 186th —> 240th

Though Matthew Hibner, who went from 1083rd to 250th, so it’s not all bad news

https://247sports.com/college/michi...-Harbaugh-Quintel-Kent-Josh-Gattis-134195411/

According to a late Sunday night post on his Twitter, Michigan freshman wide receiver Quintel Kent will not play this season.

"Due to some unfortunate medical findings, I will not have the opportunity to participate in this year's football season," Kent wrote. "I would like to thank Michigan and especially my family for the endless amounts of support. I will continue to pursue my education at the University. Although I don't fully understand this part of my journey, I trust in God's plan for what the future holds. Go Blue."

From SI.com

Joan Niesen: Army finished last season ranked No. 19, with an 11–2 record. It came within one overtime score of beating Oklahoma in Norman, and this fall, it faces Michigan in Week 2. Its schedule isn’t strong enough to put it in consideration for the College Football Playoff—ESPN ranks its FPI at No. 67 in the FBS, and UCF had top-25 FPIs the past two years while still being excluded from the final four—but this team is good enough that we could entertain the idea of it taking down Michigan. That would radically alter the playoff race and also be enough for Army to unseat UCF as the best team in the Group of Five.

If Army pulls off the upset, I can only imagine the repercussions. lol

A little nugget from Pete Sampson's mailbag in The Athletic today. The question was regarding how many of the Top 100 ND can recruit based on academic requirements. Sampson went on to compare Stanford, and then Michigan:

As for Michigan, I don’t have a figure for you, but the Wolverines have a prospect in their class right now that Notre Dame couldn’t take because of grades, even thought [sic] he was somebody the Irish would have welcomed on athleticism alone.

Michigan relaxed things in the Rich Rod era to let them take 2/3 borderline academic takes each year. Its pretty similar to ND taking guys like Greg Bryant, Noah Boykin every once in a while

That seems bogus since the requirements for the student body as a whole are on par.

From the referenced article:

A few years ago I did a story with Brian Polian, who at the time was working at Texas A&M, following stops at Notre Dame and Stanford. He said the notion that Notre Dame and Stanford have the same academic standards for football recruiting was a “myth” and explained how frustrating it can be to recruit at Stanford because you’re turning away guys that Notre Dame can admit without thinking twice.

Stanford has higher GPA minimums than we do, which precludes a lot of players. ND has historically had more wiggle room for "exceptions" too, but is rather inflexible on credits.

The bogus part of the Stanford myth is that they act like they're taking a bunch of Rhodes Scholars but their floor is a 1000 SAT and 3.0 GPA. And then classes are a joke once you're in.

Michigan has and always will take anyone who can fog a mirror.

A good friend of mine played for Stanford. He shares the same view.
