"A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went," Solomon said. "I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me."
Ouch.

Lord do I hate scum, but the decommitment from Solomon is all that is wrong with CFB...

What a brat.

Just tell us that you wanted to stay close to home.

Do you know him personally or know of the story, other than the little blurb linked above? I personally don't, but I cannot tell if this is something that is the "tip of an iceberg" where perhaps he feels neglected by the staff, or if this isn't the first time they have messed up with him. I also can respect the fact that he is putting his trust and future in the hands of a coaching staff that proclaims their love for him and maybe, just maybe, he is starting to think it could be lip service based on their actions? There are lots of plausible reasons for doing this, including the one you mentioned. However, unless you have first hand information to support your claim, I wouldn't be so quick to throw this back on the kid.

He claims, his own words, that they spelled his name wrong and he didn't get to go to the BBQ which made him feel like he wasn't a priority.

Which, even if that isn't his reason, is asinine to even bring up as your reason and trigger a decommit.

From what his high school coach said, it was BS..

Lee County coach Dean Fabrizio says he hasn't discussed the decommitment with Solomon, but he doesn't believe the botched letter is the main reason.

"I don't think that was a major role," Fabrizio said. "I think it was his family taking the time to think about things and make sure they explore all their opportunities. I'm sure that he and his family have been thinking about this, but I don't think it was a rash decision."

Don't take some petty action and use it to decommit to make the school look bad, which is exactly what Solomon just tried to do. Just admit you want to be close to home.

The only thing we should be discussing about this is why didn't he write "fvck Michigan" at the end of the text

But he also claimed that education is important and from the reports, UGA is the favorite?

LOL. Yeah.

You know what the #1 major was for a football player at UM in 2015? General Studies. 19 players. You know what UGA was? Business. 17 players.

Look, nobody is going to argue that at the macro level, UM is more prestigious academically than UGA. That said, the football players all too often attend a different school than the average student. UM is clearly one of those schools. Under Richt, UGA was doing the right things and I am sure a person motivated to get the best education they can get will do fine at UGA.

He's the one that claimed UM has a great education. Which means he was also using macro.

I was merely using his own words.

If what you're saying is the case, he wouldn't have brought it up, nor cared about education.

As UGA is an absolute joke in that department. In fact, one of the worst in CFB grad rates, I believe.

At one time they were, but they have been better. Their last three GSR's (we can debate the merit of that, just using it as a measurement) were 82, 75 and 73. Michigan during the same time periods were 66, 69 and 72.

Again....going to UGA or Michigan or ND or Stanford doesn't mean you will get a superior education as a FB player. As a player, it is what you make of it. He can get a fine education at UGA if he pursues it.

He received a note from scUM thanking him for attending their BBQ. He wasn't there. It made him feel that he's just another body for their program.

that was just a BS excuse according to his high school coach...supposedly his family isn't cool with the UM pick and wanted him closer to home.

He'll sign with UGA. Book it

Wish I could commit to usc and mich at the same time, which would leave them both confused. Only for me to decommit from them on signing day.

this. his mother never made the trip to Michigan with him and she was against the commitment from day one.

Leonard Taylor is an Ohio kid that will be flipping to Ohio State. Not tough to figure that one out. The other kid from Georgia who decomitted- Jalil Irvin- he'll be going to Georgia too. They just offered him.

It's tough to recruit kids down in SEC territory and most Ohio kids with Ohio State offers go to Ohio State except for the ones who grew up loving Michigan (see Wormley, Woodson, Manningham- who were all M fans as kids) or Notre Dame. Just the way it is.

As for ATH Ahmir Mitchell and K Andrew David transferring, not surprising. David was beaten out by Kenny Allen and Quinn Nordin the frosh also blazed ahead of him. Ahmir Mitchell was an early enrollee and he's been in trouble more than once since the day he got here. Was suspended for the year. Some kids stick it out and earn their way out of the doghouse, others leave. Mitchell isn't some innocent little kid who has been pigeonholed. He's caused all of his own problems by hanging out with the wrong people and doing things he shouldn't be doing. Are drinking and smoking pot wrong? I don't know. But I do know they are against the rules and when you continually break those rules you deserve to get in trouble.
