We were following the game at the tailgate Saturday, and by the time we left to enter the stadium it didn't sound like Sparty was going to win, which was a bit disappointing.

Michigan and other B1G programs like to tease the Spartans about how they choke games away. "Sparty gonna Sparty." Last night it looked like "Wolverines gonna Wolverine" I guess. Doesn't have the same ring to it.

They go from disbelief, to bitching about Sparty fans (oddly acting just as they do), to insulting Sparty, to insulting Phork, to 'there's always next year.'

Actually Joel, it wasn't the the dropped snap, it was tossing the ball into the hands of an opposing player that resulted in the TD.

Saturday morning my brother and I were on our way to South Bend for the game and we stopped in a Texas Roadhouse for lunch. Our waiter had a MSU shirt on, and he looked like he was having a bad day. Despite being a rival, I've always respected State more simply because of the long history and the fact both our teams were initially blackballed from joining the Western Conference/B1G back in the day (A result of Michigan's meddling).

Anyway, struck up a conversation with the guy, asked him how his team would do Saturday, etc. He commented "Yeah, everyone in the kitchen is a Michigan fan and they've been giving me shit all morning." My brother and I had our Irish gear on, so I said, "You have my sympathies, don't tell them we're Irish fans." He was really cool and didn't charge us for our drinks, so we left him a good tip and I wrote on the receipt "Fuck Michigan, Go State!" Hope he got to rub it in a bit with the cooks later that day. I'm surprised they had so many Wolverine fans in Ohio, we weren't even near Toledo.

Despite a successful surgery, recent conversations with the Wolverines have still left him with doubts about his football future.
"I want to play football and I can still play at a high level," he said, "but at this time, I'm divided because Michigan is only giving me one option. Coach Harbaugh told my mother quote 'if Matthew comes to Michigan, he will not be able to play football.' But they would pay for my college education for academics.

Haha, it's Monday afternoon and it is still sweet how that game ended. I've probably watched that highlight 25-30 times now and the level of schadenfreude I get from it is probably not normal.

ND knows as well as any team that picking a play apart and finding fouls that weren't called gets you nowhere. It wasn't called and being a baby about it doesn't make you superior. Roughing the snapper is called so infrequently that when it is called people assume foul play... that should tell you something about why it wasn't called.

They lost the game on a punt fumble, but my god did they get shut down in the second half. State made stops when they needed to and it paid off. Get a first down and you don't need the punt.

And do they really think that they weren't going to be smug assholes to State fans if they had won? Des already had a thumbs up and a s***-eating grin on his face. I'm sure the entire game UM fans were giving State fans the business and then they get their panties in a bunch when State fans return the favor? Get bent.

Most Wolverine fans work service jobs. Bet you'd find the same kind of concentration at a lot of gas stations and pizza places in Ohio.

A heartwrenching loss can increase your chances. Sometimes it makes recruits understand who they truly wanted to win. If they feel bad about the loss, and feel like they could make a difference, it can attract them.

will have to find, but I saw a highlight package that showed that play (a dive into the center of the line) was over 12 seconds before they called it a TD...and that was after on field had already had TD call overturned previously.
