Remember how the University was admonished by the media for ole purple face and lip reading of Kelly's cursing on the sideline his first couple years?

Rex Ryan at Notre Dame? LOL

Yes, and I think most would love it,,,,, except the stodgy blue haired traditionalists
His players love him, so I don't think his purple face would offend that many.
I'd love to see his toughness at ND

See the discussion about the BOT in the next coach thread. That's a good explanation for my LOL. I just don't see it happening.

He's proven he understands college, he's proven he can win in the pros. The only thing standing in his way is if he loses control of the players or butts heads with the administration.

It may become a fun Michigan - tOSU battle once again.

In college it's damn near impossible to lose control of the players considering the coach has final say, he's judge, jury, and executioner. In the NFL players make more than the coaches and they have the owners/GM's ear, especially the star ones. Look at guys like RGIII and how he had a direct line to Daniel Snyder any time he and Mike Shannon had a beef. That just doesn't happen in college, Jim will have total and complete control. He'll be the dictator, and the players can do nothing about it. Don't like it? There's the door.

I don't think he'll butt heads with the admin either. The interim AD Jim Hackett is staying on for 2-3 years, Jim Harbaugh is his guy, he's handed him the keys to the kingdom. The "insiders" at the UM Rivals boards who were all over this from the beginning all say part of the deal is that after Hackett steps down in 2-3 years, Harbaugh will basically get to pick Hackett's successor. Harbaugh will have complete and total control. His parents are also said to be moving to Ann Arbor, and his dad Jack Harbaugh will have an office at Schembechler Hall.

Call me a homer, but I have a feeling Harbaugh is going to chew up Urban Meyer and spit him out. You think the guy hated Carroll/USC at Stanford? This is the same guy who went 3-1 against Ohio State and 2-0 as a starter against them and guaranteed a victory against Ohio State in Columbus and backed it up as a player at Michigan. He will make it his mission in life to beat Ohio State down and he understands that rivalry in ways even Meyer doesn't.

Kelly comes across as a control freak to me. I don't think he'd be a great fit there after what the front office went through with Harbaugh.

But if Kelly did leave, Kyle Wittingham would be a hell of a hire for ND. I think he's a better coach than Kelly to be honest.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...all college head coaches are control freaks. They have to be. Kelly might be on the more extreme end of control freak (this is how your locker should look), but they all are.

agreed. which is why I don't think the 49ers brass are going to consider him. I think they've had enough head aches with a control freak from college in Harbaugh.

My guess is they want an NFL retread like Rex Ryan or promote from within.

Would Brady Hoke be the exception? Dude just stands there and claps his hands.

what? Hoke was a joke of a hire. He isn't 1/1,000,000th of the football coach that Jim Harbaugh is. Basically Dave Brandon wanted a coach he could stick his hand up the ass of and control like a puppet, and that's why Brady Hoke got the job. Hoke was a career sub .500 coach who had one winning season at Ball State in like 8 years and an OK season at SDSU. Complete joke of a hire from the start. Hoke never played in "The Game" either, he might dislike Ohio State, but not like Harbaugh.

Damn man, he better hurry if he wants back in. He'll be 56-61 by then.

That may be too old to play football, but it's not too old to coach football, drive a fast car or screw some chick. Once you get to that age you'll understand.

Reported on the radio around 1:00PM that the Jets, Raiders and one other team I can't remember have asked Harbaugh to have a chat with them before he signs on the dotted line.

All of the bold is false bravado but it sounds like you are certain you have the right guy. I wish you no luck, because fuck michigan but I wouldn't be betting against Harbaugh despite a seething hatred for maize and blue.

I don't think Harbaugh has some type of mental mastery over Urban or tOSU. I think he'll be a good coach but remember his best years at Stanford he had Andrew Luck and a bevy of pro-quality RBs. You better hope he can identify more of those and bring them to UM.

I really hate me some Michigan, but I'm happy for them. I can't mentally cope with Ohio State fans anymore, and I really need Michigan to get back to beating them.

Seriously don't understand why people can't get this through their skulls. Gruden ain't coming!

I wish we could see who posts these crazy thoughts! Gruden may or may not be a great CFB coach that we'll never see... we have never seen him. ESPN> Gruden coaching.

Apparently Greg Roman is following him as O coordinator

Sucks for Michigan then. Greg Roman is horrible. He single handedly caused Kapernick to regress every year. NFL players weren't able to pick up his offense, I doubt a college player will be able to.

Now that this is pretty sealed up.. Let's look Old Jimmy boy in the eyes and tell me there's not something missing.. The guy looks like that guy from the middle east with the blackness..

"During the 2000's, he began a long rapprochement with the West, appearing to have grasped that Michigans isolation prevented the country from benefiting from its greed and adulterous reserves and, in the long term, threatened his grip on power. He was also isolated within the developing NCAA and treated with derision by other San Francisco leaders." Quoted with some alteration.

I kid, but It's funny stuff how close he is in appearance Libya's leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in pictures - Telegraph

guessing they won't have to resort to giving away tickets through a coke promotion to fill the seats.

PSL's and ticket requests are going to see a huge spike in demand just off this announcement.
