In college it's damn near impossible to lose control of the players considering the coach has final say, he's judge, jury, and executioner. In the NFL players make more than the coaches and they have the owners/GM's ear, especially the star ones. Look at guys like RGIII and how he had a direct line to Daniel Snyder any time he and Mike Shannon had a beef. That just doesn't happen in college, Jim will have total and complete control. He'll be the dictator, and the players can do nothing about it. Don't like it? There's the door.
I don't think he'll butt heads with the admin either. The interim AD Jim Hackett is staying on for 2-3 years, Jim Harbaugh is his guy, he's handed him the keys to the kingdom. The "insiders" at the UM Rivals boards who were all over this from the beginning all say part of the deal is that after Hackett steps down in 2-3 years, Harbaugh will basically get to pick Hackett's successor. Harbaugh will have complete and total control. His parents are also said to be moving to Ann Arbor, and his dad Jack Harbaugh will have an office at Schembechler Hall.
Call me a homer, but I have a feeling Harbaugh is going to chew up Urban Meyer and spit him out. You think the guy hated Carroll/USC at Stanford? This is the same guy who went 3-1 against Ohio State and 2-0 as a starter against them and guaranteed a victory against Ohio State in Columbus and backed it up as a player at Michigan. He will make it his mission in life to beat Ohio State down and he understands that rivalry in ways even Meyer doesn't.
