Hoke has to go 9-3 next year to keep his job. Any less is sad because that schedule sucks.

UM would really have to hit the shits to fire Hoke next season wouldn't they?? ... heck they play ND, so they are almost certainly going to get off to a great start...

He is gone at 8-4 if he doesn't beat MSU, OSU, or ND.

Here's hoping Hoke does just enough to keep his job then.

Interesting, I had not heard or thought that he was at any real risk this year.

Interesting, I had not heard or flet that he was at any real risk this year.

I'd say 50% of fans wanted him fired this year, 30% openly questioned if he was the right coach, 10% made excuses for him mostly pointing at the players he inherited, and the other 10% are still jacking it to his platitudes about "WE'RE MICHIGAN!" from his opening presser 3 years ago.

Their AD had to put out the most apologist letter ever defending him and saying he completely believes in Hoke. It was pathetic. I think he has the team to win 9 games in a bad conference, but if can't beat the rivals... 8-4 probably does him in.

Giving Gardner 98 was so stupid, it just didn't look right at all. I'm sure by the end of the season Mark Harmon was saying "Uhhh...lets just leave that number retired from now on."

I was so fired up when I saw him come out of the tunnel in 98. Microcosm of scUM. Total douche move. Pure Michigan indeed.

Yes, but he did play the best game of his career . . .

Crazy thing is Hoke is only averaging 0.5 wins per year less than BK and I would say the situation at Michigan was arguably worse after the Rich Rod disaster than ND after Weis. Not saying anything about Kelly, just that UM might be wise to at least get through year five before moving on... just my thoughts... but whatever, let them run their program into the ground for all I care.

The problem is with Hoke is that he seems to be the PR guy "this is Michigan fergodssake". Pay big money for big assistants to actually run the program.

Michigan is just about guaranteed 3 more victories than ND with their schedule every year..... at least 3.

I've heard people say that Michigan gave up too soon on Rich Rod. You never heard anyone say that about Weis at ND. BK did inherit a couple really good players; Hoke did too. I don't think BK inherited any less of a mess than Hoke. And I like Charlie and always will, but that's the truth.

Difference is trend. He's trending down from 11-2 to 8-5 to a laughably bad 7-6 last year. He wins solidly this year and he'll stay, but no major college tolerates three years in a row of downward trend + not beating rivals + lots of losses. If Kelly were to go 7-6 this year his seat would heat up like Hoke.

Michigan is rockin' the #31 class right now with 16 total players, and they're most likely done for the day.

that's what michigan calls osu...ohio university

Lived here, and I mean here, all my life and never heard that. Maybe when you have as many tOSU fans around as Wolverines, you don't say that to avoid getting punched in the throat. I had not heard. or more accurately seen. meatchicken before last year either.

The shit you just don't know! A real Bobcat insult! Oh, well thanks a lot Pa ND!

Can you believe it, raised on the Ohio-Michigan War (the shooting one not just the pigskin one) and I had to learn such a useful tidbit from a Pennsylvanian? Wow!

One of the most storied coaches in college football, Woody Hayes, refused to refer to Michigan by name, preferring the moniker "That School Up North." Brady Hoke has now accepted this same challenge and never refers to OSU as "Ohio State," instead using the moniker "Ohio."

Oh! So you are saying that Michigan fans are taking their lead from the intellectually superior Brady Hoke!

What the Fuck happened? I remember when Michigan had some smart guys as fans!

Trivia : What current Big Ten Coach has been an assistant at the University of Toledo, and Grand Valley State?

Yup, Woody used to refer to OSU as "TSUN." I always liked that one. I think Bo used to do something similar to the "Ohio" shtick that Hoke uses now. It's a shame that Hoke will probably be on the way out within a year. He's done well against us, but other than one bright year he's been pretty bad. He certainly helped us overtake Michigan again as winning-est program.

Michigan. The school that gets all their traditions and best coaches from the school that they loathe.

I'm in grad school here at UM (before you bash, it is one of the top programs in the country--and much more highly regarded than ND's so it was a business decision). I am gathering that the student body is getting sick and tired of Hoke and, as crazy as this sounds, the football program in general. Constant underachieving and hype without the results coupled with the growing success of the basketball and hockey teams has caused the changing sentiments.

I feel that there is more enthusiasm and pride in the basketball team, and rightfully so. The football team and season is seen more as an excuse to party, drink, etc. (And I'd be lying if I said I didn't partake in that partying).

Just some general thoughts from behind enemy lines.
