All of this can be traced back to losing the election, which only happens because they rigged it for HRC. HRC was not only unlikable, but they turned off a large part of their own base that supported Bernie because of how the primary was rigged against him. Those people stayed home or voted third party, leading to Trump's victory. A perfect example is Michigan... I heard on Bill Maher after the election that if you just take the ballots that voted straight-ticket Democrat but left President "blank", ostensibly because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for HRC, that it would've flipped the state in her favor.

So they put themselves in this situation by being corrupt, costing themselves two SCOTUS seats that taken together have the ability to undo decades of liberal policy.

In a desperate attempt to stop Kavanagh confirmation, they withheld information for many weeks trying to run out the clock to the mid-terms where they could maybe take back the Senate. These tactics are galvanizing the Right... which until this point was very split and parts of it very displeased with Trump... and moreover it's rubbing a lot of people in the center the wrong way. It has potential to not only fail in main goal of preventing a conservative court, but totally backfire and cost them big in 2018 and 2020 when they had been surging in special elections and polling since Trump's election.

And it can literally all be traced back to the decision to rig a primary for a corrupt, unlikable person.

Thanks for the expansion! Agree that HRC, had she won the primary the right way, would have stood a better chance in the general. Her corruption in this situations, saved us from her corruption.

I would have voted Trump before Clinton but I too left it blank, and yeah... after the last year or so and now this... 'partisan' can prob describe my voting practices over the next few elections. I am so turned off by the left over their post Trump actions that I'm seeing the Republicans as the only option, which says something considering how turned off by them I was in the year or two leading up to 2016.

I used to vote split ticket a lot. Not so much the last 10 years. In Indy, it was easier to vote split, but here in ATL, and with the way the left is changing, the choice is much clearer. Not that I don't have a lot of issues with the GOP and Trump, I just can't stomach where the left is headed. Lesser of two evils.

Haha I’m 100% voting Democrat for President in 2020 for any conceivable candidate. Don’t want to derail SCOTUS thread, but just because I’m disgusted with how the Kavanagh allegations are being handled doesn’t mean my policy positions or dislike for Trump has changed.

What if HRC runs again? Would you vote for her?

So this is "approved" by the committee, and will next week be voted on by Senate to make it official? And in the mean time they're hoping (mandating?) a FBI investigation take place?

Is this all accurate?

Then I'd ask, when has a FBI investigation lasted only a week?

Based on the age of allegations, there's just not a lot of stuff to investigate (assuming it's limited to Ford's claim). As long as witnesses cooperate, this could be done in a few days. You have the three identified at the party, her husband, her doctor (and doctor's records), and any fruits (other named by 1st round interviewees) of those witness interviews. I don't see a plethora of fruits though given that she herself has limited things to those folks.

So the Dems just up and walked out this morning??? Playing catch up here, what prompted this latest theatrical move??

Yes, and walked to a conveniently place microphone and group of protesters and media.

I would like to believe that moderate senators from both parties (Flake, Murkowski, Collins, Heitcamp, and Manchin) are responsible for suggesting the investigation into all of these allegations should be completed before voting on confirmation. I really would like to believe they were doing this for the right reasons. However, the cynic in me sees it as four senators concerned about their re-election and Jeff Flake, who always takes a conciliatory approach, but never votes against the party line.

It's very easy to be cynical about both sides. Hence the pile of shit called DC we all live with.

I'd venture to wager that the overwhelming majority of sexual assault complainants kill their social media accounts. I'd also venture to wager that most people getting death threats do too.

just a quick catch up after a long day. TGIF

Personally I'm glad DT called for the FBI, if only to check the box. Regardless, the dems will just say it's not enough. In short, in a court of law, prosecutors have already said there's not enough if this were a criminal trial, and there's not enough even for a civil trial. I don't see that changing. It's purely he said, she said. Politics, for political sake.. If something truly significant comes out, then OK. If not, move on. A week won't make a difference if that's the case.

All this proves (if true) is that the law firm handles sexual harassment cases and represented both of the women you've named. They obviously have a good record of representing the women in this type of case. Nothing there to indicate that the women's claims were false.

Incidentally, the majority of these cases end up being a "he said, she said" case. The perpetrator isn't going to commit the act in front of a bunch of witnesses. They take advantage of situations when no witnesses exist.

In this case, there may be a witness. However, he was likely too drunk to remember what happened or is concerned about putting himself in jeopardy since there is no statue of limitations in the State of Maryland for this type of crime. It will be interesting to see what he has to say if and when he is interviewed by the FBI.

I suspect there will be more partisanship next week after some superficial interviews by the FBI.

Similarly, law firms who represented Bill Clinton were interviewed by Trump to represent him.

As far as Mark Judge is concerned and his journey into alcoholism, his book should be of some interest, and in which his tales of drunken escapades during his times at Georgetown High and with a "Bart O'Kavanaugh".
Wasted: Tales of a GenX Drunk
Good article in NYT on Mark Judge too.

I found Ford credible and Kavanaugh's explosive anger at the Democratic Senators questioning him to be remarkable.

because of course, you don't question timing, or her friend not recalling being at the party at all.... and if you were innocent, you would be happy to stay calm, seek safe space, and take it like a lib....you would not give a second thought to your world being turned upside down in the 11th hour. Guilty until proven innocent damn it!!

you have to accept political sabotage, not to be political?

If Ford is telling the truth, the dem's still have used her and her story, and made it a political. They have hurt her cause, if true.

I love the latest race card played..... how TF does this have anything to do with race.

Because leftists conflate EVERY political idea, philosophy, policy, or person to race. Therefore, if you disagree with their opinion politically, you are automatically racist.

Understand their tactics, expect it, don't be surprised. They want to paint you as someone who is so vile, that your opinion should not even be heard (to shut you up). It is a direct attack on your 1st amendments rights.

Once they virtue-signal, then call you all sorts of names, they got nothing after that.

lefty logic, always breaks down. When I'm debating (or trolling) a leftist i rely on 2 things mainly;

1. being prepared (you have to know the left better than the left does; and know current events, obviously)
2. Know that the logic is ultimately on your side. (simple example, they say there is an infinite number of genders - logic says there is 2; let them argue they are more, their point will never be corroborated).

It's not hard to 'know the left better than the left'. Because they all literally think the same, there are no real independent thinkers. The left will shun all independent thinkers (Kanye, Jason Whitlock, etc). Also, most, not all, but most leftists just read headlines that are delivered to their devices. Typically, they dont seek out information and typically dont read past the headline. These leftists can be easily identified because if you ask them a question one level past a given headline, they got NOTHING but crickets and pindrops. (they will call you names when they got nothing)

Sample question: Ask a leftist (in the course of a political discussion) what is the first thing they think of when they hear 'Fast and Furious'. The overwhelming vast majority of them have no idea of the Eric Holder connection.

I get it, it's just not logical. Most friends I have have in the middle or right at least weigh things, and laugh at media in general (CNN/Fox/MSNBC, etc.). Even my left friends are for the most part logical in terms of this kind of crap. They might be opinionated, or hate Trump, but they don't sell their souls.

But yes, the Holder thing didn't make much news in MSM, so why would the left know.

I'm far left on a couple issues, and have some great lefty friends. They are not all blind though. Most hate politics as much as i do. They hated the Clintons as much as Trump. So not all bad. It's the extremes that are dragging the country down. The crazy left is like the racist right IMO. Very dumb, very blind... It's just the crazy left is getting more mainstream.

I ran into this with an ex girlfriend. She is a reasonable liberal for the most part.

Her and her friends came after me on guns, so I showed them pictures of mini-14's(ranch rifles)...they said those should be legal. Showed them pictures of AR-15's, they threw a fit. They are literally the same damn gun. It was frustrating dealing with people from a bubble without understanding how large swaths of the United States operate, but nice to inform them that people outside their bubble aren't ignorant hillbillies.

At one point when we were alone, she apologized and said it's frustrating running into someone more intelligent on certain subjects.

Logic is overrated. Leftists use emotion, and emotion is far more effective than logic with respect to politics, if used correctly. Kavanaugh has a shot at confirmation bc he abandoned logic and instead used emotion to defend himself and attack those who are trying to destroy him. The left hates when anyone on the right uses emotion, which explains the organized attack against his "temperament" or that he is "unhinged".

This is why it’s dangerous to play ball with ideologues. Even when you give them what they want, you still lose. Flake is getting absolutely trashed right now from the Right and the Left, who you would think would have his back right now, is STILL shitting on him.

I would like to believe that moderate senators from both parties (Flake, Murkowski, Collins, Heitcamp, and Manchin) are responsible for suggesting the investigation into all of these allegations should be completed before voting on confirmation. That WAS a wonderful performance by Graham; gotta give him that much. Graham has essentially turned into Littlefinger, after watching his base go full deplorable. Too bad McCain didn't will him his balls. I totally would have voted for centrist-Graham in 2020. It's about goddamn time we had a gay president.

After today's decision that the Dems can pursue their emoluments clause case, you can guaran-damn-tee that Trump is going nuclear, next week. He needs a tainted judge that's going to back him, and I think (hope?) that Barrett would have too much ethical grounding to go along.

One thing was made certain after yesterday's sad display: Kavanaugh is a petulant, whiny douche who is not worthy of the supreme court. He has obviously lied, many times, over stupid and simple things. If he lies about the little things, he is certainly capable of lying about the big things.

Another thing that was made obvious: some of you don't understand how background checks work. Standard background checks are not completed by magical all-seeing wizards. They're researched via computer databases, with or without human interview, investigation, etc. The look-back is generally seven to ten years, not a lifetime. None of these things would have been flagged, because they were never reported.

Love that you throw gay jokes at Graham. I have no idea if he is a fruitcake or not, nor do I care. He threw the biggest shade I've seen perhaps ever. Schumer is still trying to get the taste of Lindsey's sack out of his mouth after that epic teabag.

McCain didn't have a pair. If he did, he would have gotten testicular cancer instead. Hell he may have had a shot at winning the Presidency even if he had a pair.

Lets see how you respond when you get railroaded the way Kav did. You are actually right there in Webster as the the definition of douche. Odd you'd use it as a slur of a Mucho Catholic judge. It doesn't matter what he did or didn't do at this point honestly, the way the Dems/her team handled it. This was entirely designed to come after him in the worst way possible rather than handling it the way it ought to have been done.

Honestly can't get over how bad my boy Lindsey did to the Democrats on national television. Might be worse than what the '85 Bears did to the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

I was told she was afraid of flying, wrong on so many levels.
She had no corroboration.
She couldn't remember a damn thing from the last couple months.
She knows only that Kav did it.

Regarding the background check, I'm going through one right now. Takes about 18 months. They shook down my dad's childhood priest on his background check. They talk to classmates. They talk to friends. I have no idea what more you folks want them to do.

Judging by who your senators are, my standards for judging the average Hawaiian citizen's intelligence is pretty low. If you need me to sound out the big words, PM me and I'll give you my number so I can walk you through it.

It would have been much better if he had just claimed to not recall anything except the fact he didn't do it...? That always works for the left.

HRC took over the DNC before anyone voted... Hell, she assumed the DNC debt and put them on an allowance. Shit was stacked before it even began... I'm hoping she attempts a comeback in 2020. The socialist vs HRC antics would be pure gold.

Not a Bernie Bro, more of a Hillary Hater...

If you two were tailgating together, and politics didn't come up, I bet y'all would be best beer buds, and spooning at the end of the night lol...

Well said. That almost topped Sen Graham’s rant!

Could someone describe the differences between "right-leaning", "left-leaning" and "leftists"? Are "libs" synonymous with Dems?

You're smart enough to know, so assuming you're asking "to make a point".
IMO, all the terms have been bastardized. Left and Right are ideologies specific to certain topics (econ, social, healthcare, environment, etc.). Dems and GOPs are parties who embrace ideologies to to varied extents. I find the scales (like Dickenson's, and the different quadrant/matrix views ) to be flawed or overly simplified. I find the parties to be round and square holes, with most people being being some other shape. The people who are perfect squares and circles are simply blind partisans.

well, I think the first 2 are centrists with a certain lean, they would be more moderate than an extremists.

To explain what I say is a leftist, it helps to identify a liberal first. The classic liberal is defined by "I may not agree with you, but I will fight to the death to defend that you have the right to say your opinion." The classic liberal is open to public discourse, and can have a political discussion with someone of an opposing opinion without becoming violently opposed to what is being said.

A leftist, for me, is clearly defined as being far left of the classic liberal. Another key factor that identifies a leftist is they want to attack anyone's 1st amendments rights if that particular person does not agree with them. A leftist believes that an opposing opinion should not even be heard, opposing opinions are to be silenced by being shouted down, ridiculed by name-calling, digital censorship, etc. Leftists are QUICK to throw all the common names around (racist, homophobe, etc.), they do this to shutdown/silence their opponent. Leftists believe that non-white ppl do not have the capacity to be racists (as defined by Mark Lamont Hill).

Leftists want to destroy western society and anything and everything that contributed to building it. This translate to attacks on white men, as the left blames white men for western society. Leftists attack the tradition family, they pride themselves on breaking any rule/law set in place by 'white man' (ie cory booker and his spartacus moment, calling the 'committee confidential policy a sham'; Kamala Harris walking out and calling 'their committee a sham'; includes Hirono from Hawaii telling (white) men to 'Shut up'; Joy Behar's 'white men keeping power' statement; leftist politicans do this with 'sanctuary cities/states'). Their 'multi-gender' policy is an attack on the western society construct of the typical male/female roles. Leftists violently oppose any western society construct, they are allies with palestine and Iran (government, not the citizens of Iran) and will defend those groups at all costs.

There is a very telling video that keeps getting pulled from youtube, because it really spells out their plan. The video is a speech by Van Jones (heavily connected to Soros thru numerous 501(c)3's like the Ella Baker Center) in this speech Jones' lays out the plan to transform, or rip apart a society. He describes a 3 prong attack - "from bottom-up (sheep), top-down(donors, elites, funding sources), and inside out(media types like himself)". The entire jones video keeps getting pulled from youtube, you can find excepts and cut up versions of the speech, but they are no substitute to hearing/seeing the entire speech.
