Well this just proves that you are simply trolling us. There is no way anybody can see this as a positive for OSU. Eight years is ridiculous for a guy that hasn't proven himself at this level yet.

I see you forgot the italics!

Holtman has proven himself. Comparing him to Stevens is unfair, because Stevens is probably one of the top five coaches in basketball period. Of course that's my opinion, but I used to listen to Stevens weekly radio spots when he was at Butler. Listening to this guy and you can tell he is different. Listening to Holtman you don't get quite the same impression, but you can tell this guy gets it. I have no doubt he'll be successful at OSU.

He must not have proven himself too well, you can't even spell his name correctly!

Again - my point is the length of the contract. If the AD for the team I cheered for hired Holtmann, I would be really happy with the hire. If the AD for the team I cheered for hired Holtmann with an eight year contract I would have reservations.

Let's call it the Notre Dame syndrom, OK? I am still reeling about having paid ole Charlie for way too many years...

We obviously both suffer from this as I can't spell Holtmann correctly everytime and you can't spell syndrome.

Fr. Jenkins and Kevin "proudest moment" White whiffing on Urban was probably the final nail in the coffin of ND football. Shame.

Someday when you meet a booster who has the people you hate on speed dial you'll learn that MANY wanted Urban but FEW were willing to put their name behind it. My childhood friend who is one such person said it best, "Urban's a box of Ho-Ho's. You see it, you have to have it, you get 'em, you can't stop eating 'em and before you know it you've sh!t down your leg in front of those who told you, Don't eat that crap, it'll make you sick!"

If I'm running ND, I'm hiring him or Saban and I'd pay whatever it took to make it happen BUT I'm not an ND guy and I tend to look at ND only in terms of wins, losses and revenue. That's why when the people who relate to the school and it's mission with their heart and soul instead of just their brains make these decisions I just sit back and have the luxury of knowing they've won 4 NC's in my time on this rock and that's 3 more than my baseball team, 3 more than my NFL team.

Now if you want to open up a Holy Cross extension program to the 5* / 800 SAT's of the world... I'm good with it.

(1). They haven't won any NCs in my time on this rock. (The pro teams that I root have won more, and I'm a Cleveland fan. Think about that.) Heck, I wouldn't even be able to remember any NY6 bowl wins, although there were several when I was very young (I was not raised to be an ND fan). For many people my age or younger, ND is an afterthought. We aren't relevant and haven't been for some time. I don't think the administration appreciates the gravity of the situation.

(2). I've graded the work of multiple FB players in what I would consider pretty easy classes. All I can say is that if they are this bad at ND, I truly wonder how bad it is elsewhere. I'm pretty sure we ended up giving Kelly what Urban wanted in terms of standards; it's too bad we haven't got more out of it.

(3). As I documented here, we have offered many of the same players as OSU, and our offers have a higher average rating, and a similar share of our offers have been top 10 ranked at their positions. They just don't come here. Why is that? Well, see (1).

Ohio State's 2017 non-conference schedule.

09/09 - Oklahoma
09/16 - Army
09/23 - UNLV

An academy? Still, they consider it their easiest game. OSU schedules all their non-conference games in September. Doubt that makes it compatible with any SEC team in the future.

Easiest stretch - before Oklahoma, Indiana. After Army and UNLV, Sept. 30 at Rutgers Oct. 7 Maryland

FILM STUDY: EXAMINING THE FINER DETAILS OF ARMY'S FLEXBONE TRIPLE-OPTION (Eleven Warriors)

2017 LOOK AHEAD: ARMY AT OHIO STATE

well wasn't a service academy i think it was navy within the last 10 years close to beating ohio state in their house?

Anyone see their hype video for 2017? I cannot use youtube at work, but it's awesome. That's how you do a hype video.

If I searched for and watched the OSU hype video, I would have to kick my own ass. Can't think of a reason, other than naked chicks or Urban getting shot, that I would ever do that. I'll take your word for it though. Seems like your wheelhouse.

I just appreciate greatness. And OSU football is greatness.

OSU is superior to ND, but there is only one program that is greatness and that is Bama. Urb is a fantastic recruiter, but I am continuously appalled at how OSU under performs given their talent disparity.

61-6 (.910) since Urban has taken over, including a natty. Yeah, just terrible underperformers.

Bama 64-7 (.901) in that same time period, 2 natties.

Care to rethink your logic?

I think it's safe to say both programs are pretty great.

Weak sauce.

OSU games versus top 15 teams since 2012 - 13 games - .692 winning percentage

Bama games versus top 15 teams since 2012 - 28 games - .786 winning percentage

OSU Total Yards per play differential by season
2012 - 1.0
2013 - 1.8
2014 - 2.0
2015 - 2.2
2016 - 1.9
Average - 1.8

OSU Total Yards per play differential by season
2012 - 2.7
2013 - 2.3
2014 - 1.8
2015 - 1.6
2016 - 2.5
Average - 2.2

So despite playing DOUBLE the amount of tougher games, Bama generates 22% more yards per play differential since 2012 compared to OSU. OSU has also won ONE, I repeat, ONE, Big Ten Championship. OSU has played for one national championship. Bama, on the other hand, has won 4 SEC championships, played for 3 national championships.

But yea, they are on the same level b/c of winning percentage.

Stats can prove anything.

I'm pretty sure the CURRENT general consensus of all college football is:

Tier 1: Bama, Clemson, OSU - No one else. Is this even a debate?
Tier 2: Teams like Michigan
Teir 3: Teams like ND
Teir 4: Who cares.
