Lingering speculation Bubba Cunningham (Class of ‘84 and ‘88 and former AD’s office) could bolt for Michigan State

- Reminder we played Tulsa in 2010 in part because he was the AD there. Michigan St series return?

- Man he must hate how the Bellichek thing went down

- Tried to hire Rees to UNC, Michigan State would be a great spot for Rees to get started if it came around to that soon

Think Year 1 was fine. Not overly bad or good but just was thinking in general new AD, eventually comes with new HC barring overwhelming success. And Cunningham tends to lean into his ND ties

ND received $20.7 mill. from the ACC for fiscal '24... Not bad when you add this to ND's $20 mill. total 2024-2025 CFP take and its total 2024 NBC estimated contract revenue of around $25-$26 million annually. University of Louisville receives $46.4 million from ACC revenue distribution for FY2024
Aren't we getting about $50M/year in the new NBC contract? We'd better be because otherwise - minus CFP takes that you can't really budget on - we're getting pretty much the same money as every team in the ACC. Which is, in fact, bad.

You're right... Per the NYT, ND is estimated to get that $25 mill./year through the upcoming '25 season (so it was about the same as an ACC member team take for 2024-2025 if you put the $20 mill. playoff take aside in the calculation). Per Front Office Sports, moving forward through 2029, ND is expected to receive around $50 million per year from NBC.

2025 Predictions

Clemson
Miami
SMU
Louisville
Florida State
Georgia Tech
Pitt
Duke
Syracuse
UNC
NC State
Virginia Tech
Boston College
Wake Forest
Virginia
Cal
Stanford

First and foremost, I want ND to piss pound Miami down there to start the season. They deserve it, and not because of anything that was happening decades ago. Right the fuck now, they deserve it.

Second, I want ND to meet up with Clemson in the playoff and give Dabo the beating he so richly deserves.

That's all I have to say about the ACC. Kinda hope SMU wins it, honestly.

My random $0.02: It is crazy how mediocre and obsolete VT has become. In my youth, those Frank Beamer teams were a problem. Now all they have is this annoyingly overhyped stadium entrance and a run of 5-7 win football seasons in a pathetically mid conference.

Fair point. Following Beamer was not going to be an easy task. Fuente's best seasons were his first two. Covid and the Portal/NIL era come along and now you've got Brent Pry in there. It's tough.

You know, I'm not sure there's a team I dislike more in the ACC than VT. Clemson is a rival, but I don't necessarily hate Dabo. I don't like Miami, but they're not my least favorite despite how trash their fan base is and how they've treated opposing fans down there in the past. As much as I don't like Miami, I think I hate VT more. I feel like their fan base is cockier, and their players can be shit heads. I think it's a culture issue. Obviously Miami had that problem in the 80s/90s during their dominant run, but VT has been chippy and disrespectful when we've played them in the last decade.

Best example is the end of the 2016 game at home. Kizer scrambled on a 4th and 5 to pickup a first. He already took one shot to the head that day that probably should have been targeting, then he took another shot on that scramble and had to come out. As he's getting helped off the field Mook Reynolds started talking trash to him. What kind of POS are you when you start disrespecting a player that has a head injury and is getting helped off the field? That's some real low shit. I could use a few examples from the games in Blacksburg, but that 2016 game always comes to mind.

He definitely didn't come over to check on him either, because you can read Kizer's lips as he turns back to respond.

I was at that game, unfortunately. And I agree their fans were obnoxious. We were 4-7 coming into that game and they were 7-3 and you'd think they won the super bowl.

The season was all but over obviously, but BK seemed to have just given up. You have the ball at midfield with 13 seconds left and a fresh set of downs, and you're not going to coach up Zaire on the situation? Spike the ball, or if you believe he has the arm, let him take a shot at the EZ on 1st down and then regroup and try again.

Brutal. 2016 tops 2007 for me as the worst season in my lifetime (beginning on '01 when I was a kid). It was 100% HC ineptitude on BK. Let's start with BVG. They won a lot in that 2015 szn and it was 100% due to an elite offense that won us a lot of football games, despite a defense that gave up 24+ ppg. He decided to hire his buddy BVG and should've seen the writing on the wall that year, especially the way we ended the year against Stanford and pOSU. Then he botches the QB position when he should've just stuck with Kizer. They start Kizer, they beat UT in Austin. They probably don't go on to win the natty, but the team morale would've been much higher, and they might have had a respectable szn, not a 4-8 disaster with plenty of talent.

I was at that game also. The play before the injury that ended up incomplete CJ Sanders (I believe) was uncovered standing in front of the goalpost. On the final play he was left alone in the same spot again. I was sitting at the tunnel and when both QBs begin their throwing motion you can hear the end zone crowd roar anticipating a last second game winner. Instead we got check down crap and Hokie fans chanting in the concourse.

sadly, real name ... and not much of a player (though apparently good at rugby.)

Reminds me of another jerk non-parent-of-the-year, who named his daughter Moon Unit Zappa and his son Dweezle Zappa.

Frank Zappa had to be one of the coolest dads ever.
Dude was an intellectual for sure. Always liked Dweezil. I remember he was one of the actors in the Ozzy video for “Shot in the Dark”. Could shred on the guitar too

Moon Unit reminded me a little bit of Justine Bateman.

Starting to see all these predictions for Clemson to win it all this year. I feel like I haven't been paying attention, I thought they started to fall off

Kinda like Penn State, they have one of the better returning QBs and some dudes on the defensive side of the ball. That's all it is. Maybe they'll be that good but who knows, really.

Doesn't sound like this potential change for ACC where teams would start playing 9 conference games starting next year really changes anything than to further solidify ND's relationship with the ACC Notre Dame solidifies independence while simultaneously moving closer to the ACC
That article is a fair number of words to say absolutely nothing.

Though one question I do have: At what point (if ever) does Stanford start to count as one of our five ACC games? This year we play them plus five others - the ACC is half our schedule. But if we have Clemson and Stanford every year, would we only play three other ACC games in the future?
