Yeah, it's nice that they're only giving the privilege to players set to graduate. It's a nice focus on academics that you don't always see from football factories.

I may be naive but I get the sense Clemson does things a little differently than a lot of the other “football factory” programs (SEC powers, FSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc).
There was a lot of talk in that Athletic story this week, the one about their coaches visiting ND, about recruiting for fit and character and building a culture. Some of their players (I’m thinking of Christian Wilkins) seem like pretty thoughtful and impressive young men. Some of the stuff I’ve read about Swinney and the way they’ve kept their assistants so long.
They have a way of doing things and it seems to work. So good for them. Hopefully they can maintain that culture amid success, which is often harder than when you’re trying to attain success in the first place.

https://247sports.com/college/north...s-traveling-party-vaccine-COVID-19-169646839/

The traveling party for NC State Athletics away games this fall will be limited to vaccinated players, coaches and staff, or those with exception from the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity, as originally reported by Technician Sports and confirmed to Pack Pride.

An NC State spokesperson told Pack Pride that the policy is as follows:

"At the discretion of the athletic department, will be limited in ability to travel with the team.

"How it is currently being applied for Fall sports is that we are limiting travel to those who are vaccinated or those who have an exception from OIED."

The Wolfpack football team will start it’s season at home, but travel the following weekend to Starkville, Miss. for a meeting with Mississippi State. As far as vaccinations go, NC State head coach Dave Doeren spoke about the team’s vaccinations last month at the ACC Football Kickoff.

“We’ve talked one-on-one with several of the players,” Doeren said. “My job is to help these young men grow, help these guys compete, put them in the best places they can be and keep them as safe as I can keep them...Where we’re at numbers wise, we’re going to be in a good place. I don’t know where our exact percentage is today, but I feel comfortable with where we’re headed.

“Guys have to make decisions for themselves. I just want to know why they’re making those decisions, and I can help them get the info to make the right ones for them and protect us, protect our team, but ultimately make them feel good about the decisions they’ve made.”

And while there has been no official announcement of team vaccination status from NC State, sources have informed Pack Pride that over 90 percent of the Wolfpack’s playing roster is vaccinated to date.

NC State has yet to announce any formal vaccination or negative test requirements for fans at Carter-Finley Stadium this fall, but other schools across the country have. Louisiana State University announced earlier this week that all fans in the stadium for games will need either proof of vaccination or a negative test.

I bet if you're a top player and not vaccinated, you'll get an exception.

Dabo Swinney arrived at Clemson as the head football coach in 2008 and he’s built a powerhouse that has solidified itself as arguably the top program in the last decade, behind only Alabama.

When a team consistently makes runs a the national title, it feels odd when an average season comes along. Though Swinney’s Tigers didn’t cruise through the regular season, win the ACC and make the College Football Playoff, they closed out the year with a (9-3) overall record and a No. 19 overall ranking in the country.

After one of the wildest coaching carousels college football has seen, maybe ever, one reporter was curious to hear Swinney’s thoughts on it all.

In his press conference ahead of Clemson’s Cheez-It Bowl vs. Iowa. State, Dabo Swinney was asked “given what’s happening in college football right now, the money going around, is college football in a good place?”

“No,” Swinney responded

Without elaborating, the longtime Clemson head coach said there were several reasons he believes the sport is trending in the wrong direction.

“College football is not in a good place for a lot of reasons,” Swinney added.

“There’s a lot of change going on, and I think some unintended consequences with that. At the end of the day, we’ll figure it all out as we move forward for sure. There’s a lot of things in college football right now that I think we’ll look five years from now and, and hopefully things will settle down a little bit.”

What does Dabo Swinney mean, exactly?

It’s difficult to decipher exactly what Swinney is referring to in his response, particularly when part of the question referenced “the money that’s going around out there.”

In 2019, Clemson agreed to a 10-year, $93 million contract extension with Swinney that will keep him with the Tigers through the 2028 season. The new deal paid him $8.25 million in 2019, and increase incrementally up to $10 million in 2027 and 2028. It was the richest coaching contract in college football history at the time.

Like plenty of high-profile coaches, Dabo Swinney’s name has been thrown around for years when it comes to premier college, or even NFL job openings.

But with so much drama all season long, it’s clear the Clemson front man isn’t pleased with the direction of the sport.

A year that began with massive news about conference realignment ended —and it isn’t over yet—with unprecedented changes that nobody saw coming.

The sudden departure of Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma was stunning. Then came Brian Kelly shocking college football fans yet again, accepting the LSU opening,

Those were just the high-profile moves, but a domino effect occurred. Ultimately Dabo Swinney lost his longtime right-hand man and defensive coordinator Brent Venables, who accepted the head coaching role at Oklahoma, filling the void left by Riley

For now, as he’s always done, Swinney will prep his team for a tough task ahead.

While Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers are in unfamiliar territory slated for a bowl matchup that isn’t leading toward a national title, it was announced that Iowa State will be their final test of the season.

The first-ever matchup between the two programs will kickoff on Dec. 29 at 5:45 p..m. ET on ESPN.

The more he opens his mouth, the more I think that he believes he's the only person that should profit from any of this. I'm really over this dude.

His AD is gone, his DC is gone and hopefully his OC moves on next. Miami is going to have the highest paid coaching staff in the ACC now.

With a little luck, his orange Tiger wheels fall off in time for Saban to retire at Bama and they hire someone else to replace him.

I cannot express how much it pleases me to watch FSU get bent over like they did today.

Noles' fans crying that the school should unretire Deion's number 2. That would be delicious.

The number 1 recruit in the country, CB Travis Hunter has been committed to FSU for like 2 years. Today, he flipped and signed with Deion Sanders and FCS Jackson St.

Word is Barstool is paying him $2 mill in NIL money to go to JSU.

This is one of the biggest shockers in recruiting history. And Noles fans are piiiisssssed at Prime, lol.

edit: CB, not RB

So understand at a point I got disgusted and stopped paying direct attention. Can someone give me a quick run down of what is and isn’t legal now? Barstool as in barstool sports is paying kids to commit?? What’s going on here?? Big thanks in advance to anyone who can help clarify this ordeal.

None knows for sure what is legal and what isn't, but every major program and its supporters are pushing the envelope, except ND.

Yes, Barstool Sports is paying him (if the rumors are true), like Mission Barbecue is paying ND OL (lolololol).

The Clemson leaving the ACC rumors are really starting to heat up around here.

The Clemson fans are all pointing to Dabo's comments at the ACC meetings.

Yesterday Swinney professed his faith in president Jim Clements and AD Graham Neff to navigate Clemson through these monumental, turbulent times.

It was notable to us, at least, that he didn't mention ACC commissioner Jim Phillips.

We told you a few weeks ago that this feels much different than a decade ago when Swinney was such a staunch proponent of remaining in the ACC.

Felt different yesterday, too.

I'll defend that Phillips comment a little, 8 playoff appearances to the SEC's 10, three national championship in the past decade to the SEC's 6. I know that gets chalked up to "well, that's all just Clemson" but the Big Ten and Big 12 are very much the same way.

I just have no patience or tolerance for the ACC since they torpedoed playoff expansion. It was a cocky and spiteful move aimed at leveraging ND to join their conference. I want Phillips out of a job and the conference dead.

It was bad for the sport when the same team won the conference/made the playoffs from those three conferences for four-plus consecutive years.

But the difference between the ACC and Big Ten is that - at least until Florida State rights its ship - the ACC really only has one program that's relevant at all, while the Big 10 has Michigan and Penn State and Wisconsin and even Sparty who are strong programs with lots of fans. The Big 12 whatever at this point.

Jim, who's responsible for ensuring that the ACC receives media revenue commensurate with its position as national leaders?

Why stop there? I want all the conferences dead. Independence abounds.
