He didn't make a bad career decision. In 3 years, people in the draft aren't going to care that a DE transferred to be closer to home. You always take a chance on talent. Hell, they even do it for QBs, not to mention DEs that have far less on their responsibility on their shoulders.

And it's highly unlikely that he was going to graduate here (skip his senior season...not fail out).

I gave up trying to read through all this. Shi!t happens. Its not always good sh!t. That is life. The team is comprised of 85 guys. Someone else is going to have to play Aaron's spot and if all eleven on the field do their jobs then we'll be OK. This is part of football.

Moving on now....

I'll see you guys there. Let's get wasted and go to the batting cages at Sluggers.

Haha down. I live 2 minutes away from there. Should be a decent day in Chi to do some day drinking haha.

On another note, this one stings more than others. It's hard to lose a future NFL D end and just say "next man in." I understand that that's the philosophy we need to have, but I also understand why people are so upset. It's a huge loss for the team.

We don't need this f'in drama at ND. He was going to be great, but he's a head case. WTF is going on with this team? Oh well, guess those FSU coaches were right all along.

I wish I could turn it off that easily. This one is going to sting for quite some time.

For all of you saying we'll be fine, Next Man In, this isn't about now. This is about the future of recruiting at ND. With everyone we have lost this year there a great big circle around SouthBend with an arrow pointing to it that says THAR BE DRAGONS HERE. This is a monster black eye for recruiting.

As for Lynch, good luck to you bro, but please ask your girlfriend for your balls back.

...well this sucks

This is how I am picturing Aaron thinking about South Bend when he got there now......

I was inside the Gug, watching the players walk by after practice. When I didn't see Lynch, I friggin' knew it.

We NEED to win in order for players to want to come. And believe me, if we win the players will come. Aaron Lynch transferring won't stop kids wanting to come to ND - the place is too magical for that. But losing will. And winning just got a whole lot harder.

But oh well, this won't ruin ND guys. I'm already over it, probably b/c of the drama he caused all last weekend. It might even be addition by subtraction (doubt it, but one can dream!). Just gotta win, just gotta win...

lol, reps for the humorous phrasing, but I can't agree with this. It certainly doesn't help that some high profile recruits have decided to go a different route, but what it amounts to is just that Lynch and a few others, making personal, individualized decisions about their futures, didn't think ND was the best place for them. So Lynch didn't end up liking it at ND. So what? I know for a fact that the vast majority of the kids that end up enrolling at ND love it. Why does Lynch deciding he wants to be close to home outweigh the decisions of a bunch of other FL, GA, and CA kids who want to stay? Lynch seems like a very emotional kid (see the recent article about his poetry) who made an emotional decision. If recruits are not mature enough to realize that they have to make their own decision and that what's not good for Aaron Lynch may or may not be good for them, then they aren't going to make it at ND anyway. I mean we already knew that ND isn't for everybody. I'm confident that there are enough talented kids out there who will buy into what we're selling without asking for a refund.

I really do like how BK handles these situations. I hope his attitude is wearing off on the team.

After reading Sampson's comments, I'm over it.

Lynch was not built for ND. He didn't want to stay until his Jr. year. He wasn't receptive to coaching.

KLM, Tuitt, Nix, Day, Houndshell, Schwenke, I Williams, Okwara, and Jones are still looming. DLine is in pretty good form.

love how kelly called him a quitter! He quit on his team and himself. He is defining a threshold that when in his life he is pushed to this point his default action is to quit. I hope this isn't slippery slope that most quitters go through.

Its kinda sad that losing players now doesn't affect me that much. After losing 3 other 5:s: players I guess I'm used to it.

I wish I knew a more polite way to say that you're wrong, but I don't. What will impact recruiting is whether we win or lose with the guys we have. Losing Lynch doesn't make it easier to win, but it doesn't make it impossible either.

We will continue to recruit the best athletes we can find that WANT to be at Notre Dame. Lynch didn't. You can't make people want something that they aren't wired to want.
