Could be a big get for the 49ers.

I can't believe Harbaugh took a chance on this guy. Dude has been nothing but a clubhouse cancer these past few years when his QB isn't named Brady.

I remember hearing that Lou tried his hardest to get Randy Moss into Notre Dame. At Marshall Randy had almost 1100 yards at 19 YPC and 19 TD's. His second year 1600 yds at 18 YPC and 25 TD's. I'm just guessing but I bet the administration at the time, would reconsider the decision to get rid of Lou and not accepting Randy Moss into the program. Oh what could have been.

Jim took a shot on Edwards last year, it didn't work out and they cut him during the season. It's a one year deal and I see the 49ers doing the same thing with him if it doesn't work out.

He never would have gotten into ND after his second arrest. He committed to ND got arrested for a fight in school. Lou told him to check out FSU, he committed to Bowden and got arrested again for possession of marijuana. FSU couldn't take him and he ended up at Marshal.

Do guys think he would have gotten into ND with Kelly at the helm and the current administration? For a little background, he signed a LOI and then got into a racial fight at his high school then we decided not to take him.

He never made it to Tallahassee, the second arrest occurred in high school.

Pretty sure he was at FSU for at least the spring. He participated in spring ball and some track at FSU. He had to sit out because he was considered a transfer. The second arrest with pot was while he was still on probation from his first arrest, but it came while he was at FSU.

I got my info from wikipedia and this site, Huntington Quarterly - Heisman Hopeful Randy Moss, so that could be wrong though.

EDIT: especially with stories like McKenzie being enamored with Virginia Tech just cause of Vick. Who knows how many 5-star WRs would be interested in ND just because they want to be the next Moss.

It might be hard for a younger generation of fans to imagine now, but Notre Dame was the “cool” school at the time and home to the coolest players, with guys like Rocket Ismail, Jerome Bettis and Tim Brown wearing those gold helmets.

This part stung a little though. Is it really so hard to believe that ND is cool? We just played in a NCG. Sigh.

Maybe there should be a "retro" recruiting section on IE.

Create recruiting profiles for past players as they would have been in high school. It would not only be cool to see a recruiting page on Jerome Bettis, but it would be cool to have a place to discuss his career and post current news as well.

What harm in getting him on the sidelines then? Put the past behind us and let him be an example to players around the country to make good decisions or you might regret it the rest of your life.
