I always assumed he was ours.

I think a lot of people assumed we'd have the edge because of his dad, but I've never gotten the impression that Julius was that high on ND from an alumni standpoint. I've said it before, but I don't think Julius Sr. has come back to campus much at all, if ever really, and just briefly checking out his social media he makes no mention of ND it seems. It's all NFL. I don't get the feeling dad is pushing his son to his old stomping grounds.

probably in the minority here, but I couldn't be less concerned about losing out on him if he chooses the money and going elsewhere. Maybe he just doesn't want to live in his dad's shadow IDK. We praise CJ Carr for leaving the Michigan legacy and wanting to make his own, have to do the same here. Can't fault Julius Jr for wanting to do his own thing.

Couldn’t he have left Notre Dame when you were suspended for the entire year? Or with the rules being so different about 25 years ago was that his only option was to take the suspension?

Indiana just won, having a more open field should be enticing to everyone who isn’t UGA/Bama/OSU. If your enjoyment of the sport boils down to how much a player gets paid, maybe sports are too much for you.

I get why some might think it would be bad to miss out on him and it's a feel good story to have a former players son commit. Keep in mind that In the last couple of years ND has landed some kids of former players who didn't play at ND.

Aside from QB, I feel like under Freeman (and even BK) they historically got some lower rated program type guys early, would turn things up on primary targets on Junior Day and then close over the summer.

We haven’t even had Junior Day yet

Side note, Junior Day attendance has historically led to a high percentage of eventual commitments. I always thought a kid willing to visit SB in January meant he was serious, are we worried kids these days won’t be as battle tested if the visit in March this year? People are asking

Fong is very plugged in, but he's not perfect. He was convinced for a while that ND was the team to beat for Elijah Rushing and his recruitment basically ended during his OV.

If the kid has NFL bloodlines AND is a top 100 recruit we haven't done very well with landing those recruits. We've got a few to commit that either never made it to campus or played (Kiel, Taylor, Irvin Jr.) but until the last 2-3 years, the legacies/NFL bloodline players have been moreso under the radar guys (Montana, Bettis, Burress, Fitz) as opposed to the mega 5* recruit types (Harrison, Henry Jr, Barr, Witten, Jones Jr etc).

At least we were able to snag Young (UTR until Sr year) and Finley, but do we really expect ND to land the major recruits with NFL bloodlines?

I think Julius Jr could land here but I don't think he's being nudged at all by his father to attend ND.

First seek to understand what you’re talking about then open your pie hole. It was never about how much someone gets paid. It was about the fact that there’s no loyalty to a school and there’s really no reason to enjoy a player’s recruitment when the player leaves in a year to the highest bidder.

Let me remind you're on a college football message board where recruiting is discussed frequently. Are you lost?
