Except for the part where Rees QB recruiting was questionable at best. Guidugli 1 for 1 with a grand slam thus far.

EDIT: Also, he kept both Harman and Carr in the fold after Reed bailed. So, like I said...

Gino >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tommy.
Hartman/Minchey/Carr was a pretty damn good run after BK left the building.
Deuce is one guy. Lets see what Gino follows up with. He's not there yet.

Fair enough -- and most importantly, let's see if he can hold onto him. But this is a fantastic start and WAY better than any recent ND QB coached have managed in their 1st years...

No.
Rees 100% got Minchey & Carr & Hartman himself said Rees was the coach who convinced him to come to ND.
Gino had nothing to do with Hartman staying. Hartman came to ND (and stayed) because Rees explained to him that playing at ND for a season would give him the attention he needed & would have an elite OL & running game to protect him. Gino had nothing to do with it.

Sam Hartman is arguably the single biggest player acquisition of the last twenty years or so. No, Deuce's verbal commitment does not exceed that of a QB that we currently have in contention for the Heisman.

A lot has to shake out for ‘25 class, but how would we rank ND’s QB recruiting over the 3 year haul?

‘23 Minchey (top 10)
‘24 Carr (top 5)
‘25 Knight (top 5)

You could make a strong argument that Carr is top 3 & Knight is #1, 2 & 4 on three sites (fucking Andrew Ivins has him 10 outside the top 200).

I would say it’s top 3-5 range.

And what did Rees explain to him when he was having that conversation on behalf of Alabama?

I look forward to someday reading the oral history of our quarterback room this past offseason. And I think Gino has thus far been excellent. But, yes landing Deuce is not at all the same as landing Hartman and for that, plus Carr and Minchey, primary credit goes to Rees.

Apparently committed Friday,

Not surprised given the video. He didn't do that with a parent and iPhone. Him saying "chose hard" was the give away.

People talk about Bama QB play sucking, but man, their OL has been hot garbage.
Never thought I would see that.

I see news of Knight's commitment has somehow turned into Tommy warriors defending their guy.
It’s not that at all.
I’m glad Tommy is gone.
But facts are facts.
I like my father better, but it’s a fact my mother gave birth to me.

Don't lump me into that group. I was one of Tommy's loudest critics on here for how he handled the covid recruiting cycle. And, recruiting for the most part during his tenure. But, like most things, we've thrown the baby out with the bath water on every player and coach that has left the program of late. Forgetting all the very real positives that they created for this team and program.
