Again, not saying to not take this kid. As a matter of fact, I said I liked the commitment. What I'm saying is we can't be taking classes where guys like this are the #2 WR in the class.

Are you naturally this dense or just being intentionally obtuse? I assume the latter, but fear the former. Allow me to slow it down for you:

If the end game is to win a national championship (or at the very least compete for one), WR classes that include guys of this caliber featuring as your #2 most prized recruit at the position are simply not going to cut it. Guys like this should not be who we are depending on for a WR class to hit or not. IF he hits, it will take years to get there. It's far more likely that he doesn't hit or takes 3-4 years to get there than for him to be the next Faison. In short -- WE NEED TO DO BETTER WITH WR RECRUITING (among other positions...). We should be celebrating ND for taking a flyer on Richardson as its 4th or 5th WR of the class, MAYBE 3rd if previous classes were properly stocked. You can say "jUsT gO tO tHe PoRtAl" all you want, but sometimes the portal gets you Riley Leonard...

Mkay?

I never fucking said that.

You don't have this kind of time, though, so I understand the sense of urgency.

FFS, it's a bye week.

Don't let him get under your skin. Dudes a clown.

I like the commitment. Think he COULD be a stud. That said, him being your second best is a problem. But this late, you gotta get bodies. There's a reason Bama wanted him to play defense and not WR. Get Cooper I feel a little better.

I agree 100% with what you're saying here. We take this guy 10 times out of 10. It's not a question of taking him or not. The issue is our WR class shouldn't be dependent on him panning out or not. You obviously get it.

Who is assuming this and why is it being assumed?

This is the only part I don't understand. I otherwise agree with what you're saying, other than Cam Williams having anything to do with it.

You don't have that kind of time.

I'm looking at my Google calendar and I've got al the time in the world for young Antavious because I've got a shitload to do until about 7 PM CST tonight.

The situation currently is what it is. Recruiting is fluid. You take "flyers" or you do nothing. Either way, you're going to have people who come here and bitch about it.
you've posted like 20 times since saying this lol

MS Teams meeting, camera off, muted, not going to get called on. IE and email catch up. Touche, my friend.

Look, the staff is trying to fill this class and has another two months to do it. They obviously want to try and sign the most talented WR each and every cycle, and while the results have not been what they would like you have to adapt and play each cycle out until it closes. That's all they're doing here. I don't know that their overall ideology of recruiting WR is "let's get three star athletes and build them up". I also don't know exactly what their board looks like in terms of who is #1, #2, #5, etc. Whatsmore, if anyone set the expectation that Cam Williams was going to immediately contribute as a true freshman and are now bent out of shape that he isn't, that's a you problem, not the problem of Cam himself or the coaching staff.

We all want the same things, though, and that's every class to have Michael Floyd, Golden Tate, Jeff Samardzija and Will Fuller in it. That's not realistic, but it's frustrating. What matters is that right now they're doing what is necessary to get people into that wide receiver room for 2025. There isn't anyone here that can definitively say, however, when Richardson sees the field or if he sees the field. He still has to sign a letter, then show up and be evaluated in person as a true freshman. He could take to WR right away, he may struggle. All everyone can do is let it play out, especially a bunch of people who have absolutely nothing to do with the program personally.

Listening to Driskell's commitment segment on Antavious Richardson. The plan for him, Day 1, and it's subjective to change, is slot receiver.

Denbrock wants an explosive athlete that can stretch the field in the slot. Not just a shifty, possession guy. He wants to go vertical with the position. The Slot Fade was a big part of his offense at LSU and he had Malik Nabers to run that route.

Denbrock has 34 years of coaching experience. I'm going to roll with him on this and see how it goes.

This is the type of guy bama, Georgia and lsu grab late and once they get on the field after a few years, add to that southern speed narrative. He's a southern version of Tae Johnson.

Big fan of stashing a couple of this type of prospect every year. If they develop, you likely have a future nfl player.

"I know what the program does to develop people .... "

Hmmm... not a regular reader of IE.

Who's correct: this athlete or the IE negativity?
