Think Urban would take this kid?
Urban doesn't even acknowledge players like this and honestly I can't think of any of our former coaches that would...As far as RBs Holtz basically recruited the top 10. Bob Davie and Weis both recruited the top 20. Possibly Willingham, but only because he took Jeff Jenkins from Huron in his 1st class, who was a 3* guy and also ranked in the 500s. All of Willingham's other RBs were top 20 backs each ranked in the top 220 Nationally.

Funny NIU’s RB was a low 3 star out of highschool id take him in a heartbeat
1st Team All-State as a Jr but only played in 4 games as a Sr and he went from a borderline 4* to 3*. Guys that don't have big names and don't camp tend to get stuck with the 3* label. A RB at 5'10 190lb who made 1st team All State in GA and holds school record in 100 meters I'd gladly take as well.

Even at 120 it's questionable at best! Maybe I'm old fashioned in my ND recruiting philosophy, but a guy who isn't in the top 400 shouldn't be suiting up for ND unless as a walk on. He isn't a Top 500 guy and plays very weak competition
So let me get this straight, you believe that even with scholarship limits going to 120 ND should still not take kids that are not top 400 guys. Realistically we should start seeing class sizes between 30-40 in a class with the new limits so that would be between 7.5-10% of the top 400 gets would be ND commits? That isn't happening, way too many teams to spread those guys out among.

I get it, I'm not overly high on him either. Realistically he should be the third best back in the class but all I am saying is ND will be taking more guys outside of the top 400 not less with the new limits. The top 400 will be spread similarly to how it's spread out now, more power 4 teams will be taking low three star guys though.

Why on earth would you want 120 guys in your program? That’s a heck of a lot of guys to oversee and coach.

The extra roster spots aren’t covered by scholarships so the university or more likely NIL will have to cover it.

If the new rules go through, then there will be 105 roster spots that can be covered by scholarships

This x1000. Increased scholarship limits means players like a Jordan Faison would be given a scholarship initially rather than be a walk-on for the first year. It is only going to improve depth at the backend.

It's actually going to 105 and no they still need to keep it within the top 400 if they want to win a chip! If you want to get smoked by the guys who don't bother playing guys in that realm in bunches
Part of it is taking your 3* luke kuechly @120 so they dont beat you at BC
Well the proposed settlement is 105 not 120 for 2025-26

Sam Hubbard was a Top 150 player and a very good player at a great school. Notre Dame dropped the ball by not offering him a full ride for FB, but at the time he considered himself a Lacrosse player.

Are y’all saying that Justin Thurman shouldn’t be a take at RB as well? A four star from Florida with SEC offers in UF, Auburn and Tennessee. Get you head out of your asses.

Yeah man you are correct. No one lower ranked than 400. lol. No Jordan Faison. Joe Alt, Will Fuller, Tyler Eifert, Mitch Evans, Kyren Williams, Julian Love, etc. Because those guys wouldn’t make your standard. Give me a break

Awww so your one of those guys?? Smh Well first and foremost be informed and not what your talking about. For one we are speaking specifically about the RB position and where the players rank....Kyren Williams was a Top 15 back in his class on quite a few sites and top 25 and 350 overall composite. Joe Alt was a top 20 T and in the top 200 on a couple sites but still top 400 composite. Will Fuller was in the top 275.

I guess I’m a little dumb or stupid because it wasn’t clear to me you were specifically referring to RB position rankings. I apologize for missing that. I’l will say Will Fuller was #500 overall industry ranked. Correct that Joe Alt was ranked composite inside the top 400; specifically 139 by 247 and 180 by 247 and 3 stars by the other two services. Saying that Jordan Faison is arguably the most dynamic receiver on the team and he was literally a NO tank coming out of high school. You just never know how at 17 year old kid will develop and workout in college.

I’m man enough to admit I overreacted to your post and also misunderstood it. And I apologize for that.

No problem at all. Faison also didn't play his current position in HS, which is the problem alot of evaluators have when ranking some prospects. Especially those who don't attend camps, but he was a good RB and ran for 1600yds in 9 games.

Rushed for a career-high 98 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 carries in Bryant (Ark.) High’s (3-0) 30-10 victory against Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview Magnet (2-1). He now has 162 yards on 32 carries for the season. Interesting that we recruit a RB who has never had a 100yd game. I'm curious if that's ever happened seeing how almost all PWOs have had at least that in HS.

Man this doesn’t feel right this late in the cycle. Hope he ends up on his feet. Rooting for him.

It’s not that late tbf he still has time to make visits and have time to make a proper decision
