And people want to compare him to Burrow. If only Joe was this good.
I initially read this as you screaming in my face that CJ Carr wears a crown and CAME DOWN IN A BUBBLE, DOUG.I want to be like "hey stop overhyping this dude," but I just can't. He is just that dude. Queue "there's a bubble" meme, I guess.
Every time he rolls out and delivers a laser on a deep out route in full stride I think back to a quote from Saban about how QBs who can consistently hit deep out routes are NFL prospects.
And then I get immediately upset, because if this defense was even top 25, Notre Dame would probably be #1 in the country right now.
I’ve been waiting for over 15 years for QB play this good at ND, I’m gonna ride the wave.I want to be like "hey stop overhyping this dude," but I just can't. He is just that dude. Queue "there's a bubble" meme, I guess.

The beat dont know ball!Y'all remember the beat saying it was gonna be Minchey and questioning Marcus Freeman after Carr was announced? Lol good times
Nope, more!So less than 2 titles then?
I like the fact that he seems old school in his work ethic and attitude. Has a buzz cut and no time for prima Dona type BS like many other QBs and players out there. Very excited about what I see. Should have had another bad int this week but caught a break. Would like to see zero ints. Leonard’s ints were usually terrible ones as well. I’d like to think he will watch film and fix it. He got some awesome time this week. Nice to see Pauling producing like a captain this week.
Is that Ian Book cartoon? Joe Willy Italian Stallion?

Now that's a haircut you can set your watch to!
I predicted this 3 years ago when he committed...half italics.I look back at the practice and the report I posted on here. I don’t know what happened between then and now, but it needs to be studied.
Carr looked fine and you could see flashes, but no one could’ve predicted this. I would’ve called you a liar if you would’ve told me he’d be top 10 in a bunch of statistical categories. I’m excited to see how he can continue to build off of his great start.
I don't see this as being an issue. He has a great running game and OL. His touch and accuracy along with his football IQ put him ahead of the pack right now. I like that he puts the ball in windows to give the playmakers a chance to do something. I think he's going to be fine.I keep going back to Wimbush vs Georgia...
Wimbush didn't check out of a single play that game and it doesn't matter why. No audibles was evidence enough for me that the staff did not trust his playbook decision making. As pointed out, Carr is checking out of and into plays all the time. He's been doing it every week.
My only worry, right now is he could start trying to make hero throws every play, but by all accounts and what he shows on the field, he cares way too much to do that for very long.
Completely agree, and my worry probably should be classified as low level trauma. I was shooting for "could" to do a lot of heavy lifting in that thought.I don't see this as being an issue. As a fanbase, we are not really used to seeing what we're seeing with him right now when it comes to the QB position. It's a great thing.
I hate all the praise CJ is getting now...mainly because i don't want him to get drunk on his success. I want him to stay really focused, locked-in, self-critical but confident.
As another poster added: lots of rat poison in the air and more will come with continued success.
CJ probably is mature, and I love Freeman overall, but when it comes to public comments about players, Freeman is full of shit more often than not. He has the utmost confidence (alledgedly) in the 6th string nickel, even when the 1st string guy can't do squat. He even admits he's always going to say this about every player. In other words, "You should probably just tune me out completely when I evaluate guys publicly."Until evidence points otherwise, I'll take MF's word that CJ is mature beyond his age and red shirt freshman status.
I think we'll be fine with him in that department.
No idea what that corner was doing on that play. Turned the complete opposite way.My favorite was the 14 yarder. Great strength on it while rolling out, phenomenal route by Faison who embarrassed the corner, and he chose to make the tough throw rather than dump it off to Rairdon.
