I remain steadfast in my belief that at least one-third to half of the disdain for Rees traces back to his playing days and frustration that he was not “better.” (Despite the fact that he was a lowly-recruited three-star who outplayed far more “talented” QBs and without whom the best season we’d had in 20 years at that point doesn’t happen).

This plus Tommy didn't immediately start walking on water once he became OC.

Don't over think it. He is not a great OC and his offense sucks.

Rees as a player over-achieved. Kelly put him in bad positions that were not his strength. He did amazing for the skills he had.

Even as someone in the middle, I’m in. But, what’s the result/s that constitutes pain for the non-believers?
Simple. Shame.

I wouldn’t say it sucked. It was 15th in the efficiency/FPI rankings last season. ND needs to be top 10, but 15th doesn’t “suck.” Especially with the OL woes they had.

I love the spins he's trying to make;

1) you didn't go all-in on Moore. He just doesn't like you or your coach. Not even a month ago you were incredulous that ND was leading for an in-state recruit.

2) "Did UM Screw up by just not taking Carr?" Acting like Michigan passed on the kid so he ended up choosing ND...again, this kid didn't want you and made it obvious he wanted to go away for his education and football experience.

3) As Dale mentioned, this is the first I've heard anyone link Sayin and Michigan in a sentence...not exactly an unbiased source.

The fan base is completely delusional on its own without a "pundit" spreading this drivel on the internet. It's actually quite insane.

That's kind of where I'm at. A top 10 offense is probably where the white dog turd licking comes in.

You it is serious?

I think if TB wasnt good enough to have helped us at all in the bowl game we need CJ asap. I worry he was good enough and Rees and MF simply dropped the ball. To me, the jury is out in TR. it will depend on the developmental status of TB. I hope he knocks it out of the park.

CJ is recruiting like a champion. It’s contagious it would seem.

With BK as our HC I think he still had a hand in calling/controlling how the offense was ran.

With MF I think Rees is going to be given the keys to run the offense, plus I think Rees has better offensive coaches to work with currently.

Our offense didn't lose the game vs Oklahoma St., it was our defense.

I think Dante might be the better QB
(hard to tell based on Carr being one grade below in experience).

But to me there is no question that Carr is a better "front man" for public endorsement of ND. To me that breaks the "tie" between the two players.

Do you still think ND lands Dante?

100%. He took a beating as a player week in and week out. It was exhausting because once the lack of perspective was gone the piling on just took on a life of it's own.

All he's done as a coach so far is do a year at Northwestern as a Grad Assistant, work in the NFL as an assistant at the age of 24 and by 30 years of age become someone highly regarded in pro and power five football circles as a future head coach with a keen offensive mind.

Yet to a lot of ND fans both on this board and abroad, he's a dunce who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Is Mac Jones a good comp? I haven't heard any other one yet.

Also, there has been talk about needing more receivers. CJ looks like a pretty good wide receiver at 1:26 in this video.
