I’ve said it before on this board, but I’ll reiterate it again—as a school admin I see this play out in different facets on a daily basis. Kids are who they are surrounded by. This goes for adults and peers, alike. But, the problem is exacerbated when the adults that a kid has supporting them are making decisions that are not rooted in the kid’s best interest, but their own. It’s a shame. I’ve seen some really great kids get put into situations they never should have been in because their parents are selfish asshats.
Second guessing is being judgementsl without the facts. What is in a kid’s “Best Interest” is a tired answer. What if Oregon has a contract worth $1 million plus Phil Knight gets his parents jobs but FUND alluded to making upwards of $250k and an ND degree? Which would you chose if you were Dante - a kid from a less affluent family?? It’s easy to say ND if you are a upper midddle class ND Homer posting on an ND site but real world isn’t so easy.

Agreed. Or just dictionaries. If recruits looked up what "commit" meant, the process would be decidedly less stress-inducing, but much less exciting. I prefer the former.

I wish anyone luck that doesn't choose the Irish. That said, it's in poor taste to silently commit, keep pushing back your commitment all while a school is shutting down QB recruiting for you. The Carr commitment should not have scared Dante off given he was a '24 recruit, it just proved he wasn't serious about coming. Ended up being a blessing in disguise.
I still think it’s 50/50 he signs with OR. How could he not entertain a USC offer if Nelson bails for TAMU? I think there’s more smoke with TAMU than people think. Either Carr is scaring everyone away or Rees just can’t connect with ‘23 QBs. I really hope we see 10-2 or 11-1. I think ‘24 will be fire with CJ leading the charge as class recruiter.

Reading between the lines, Dante wanted ND and silently committed in April. Otho didn't, and took the reins in his son's recruitment thereafter, intent on using his son as a cash cow. Can't fault a kid too much when his "handler" is a money grubber.

Very few shit on players who never commit and keep it open until they are ready. But the flip flopping and shopping around while “committed” is worthy of a raised eye brow.
Dante never committed anywhere - at least not publicly - and people been shitting all over him for months around here.

I don’t think anyone disagrees with this, but if we take a total boys will be boys laisseze faire approach then why have a message board or pay for recruiting sites? You can get the roster at und.com and the tribune will give you a run down on signing day.
I just get annoyed at people taking shots (veiled or openly) at these kids. Implying Dante Moore is a bad or character deficient person because he backed off a silent commitment, then praising committed players that flip to ND.
