I would feel better about the Carr reclassification plan if there were some precedent for it at ND. The uncharted waters make me uneasy about relying on it.

True, but someone has to be first.
Given he was already held back (right age) and the facts that he is from a great family and modern HS college credits, the stars are lining up.

Good point. Didn’t freshmen already arrive for the ‘22 class, and if so does that mean Braylon James didn’t reclasssify?

I feel better about a football recruit reclassifying now versus a year ago. I doubt it happens under Kelly. Don't forget, it's been 16 years since ND had their first three early enrollees. Nobody thought that would ever happen either.

CJ Carr is a verbal in hand. All we can do is see when he actually arrives on campus. The only reason we'd be relying on him reclassifying is wanting a QB in the 2023 class, which currently they do not have unless Carr reclassifies.

I somehow think that it's going to happen when it comes down to it.

Huh?
Do I know you?

1) Me & Driskell don’t get along.
2) You seem like a POS who really doesn’t want any part of me.
3) I literally have no idea who you are & if we have ever even spoke, despite you obviously having a hard-on for me, so that shows me how much you matter. Zero.

Move along.
Move along or else ???

They would have to be smoking meth to consider that $2M to the CARR family is something that was the deciding factor.

If EJ is taking part in that theory then I will believe the monkey on his shoulder is actually the one writing at On3.
I doubt that's not true but I would be all boned up if ND FUND decides to come up with that kind of scratch for elite 5 stars. 99% of teams shouldn't be able to outspend us. I'm confident in the alumni and fan base to go to bat for ND Football.
It's almost like our fan base has conceded that Notre Dame can't or won't be a big player in the NIL game. My stance is that this will help us greatly. I'm confident with NDs NIL game

ND should and will be a big player in NIL but it won't be by dropping bags to buy high school kids, it'll be by what those kids can make once they're wearing gold helmets on national TV every Saturday. That's the smarter long-term play anyhow.

My gut is telling me the best move is to wait until the very last minute to announce that CJ will re-classify. If we have no contingencies laying out there in the 2023 class based on whether or not CJ reclassify‘s, it does nothing to boost the 2024 class by having him announce that he is reclassifying. I’d keep him right in the 2024 class and have him recruit and then spill the beans about the reclassifying after the impact is made. He is moving up in the rankings as well in the 2024 class so having a legit five star sitting there is a good way to build a base, particularly with the wide receiver kids. This is my theory why nobody at Notre Dame in the coaching staff seems to care one bit about a 2023 qb and also why CJ‘s lukewarm in questioning.

That's a well played strategy. Get the green light and see if we can poach someone. Beat O$U week one and the Irish are in play for anyone gentlemen! Feels good to say. I get a feeling that Buchner has a coming out party and we aren't going to be worried about QB play until 2024. Just a hunch.

The reclassifying will sort itself out, hopefully by, say, Labor Day. Either he can, and we go after a four-star-with-upside for ‘24. Or he can’t, and we find the best-available flip this fall for ‘23.

Either way Dante’s gone and there’s a lot of competition for Sayin. So you build around Carr and trust that Buchner will be a strong QB1 for at least two more years. It’ll be OK.

With regards to reclassification, here is some outside actions I have picked up:

- Have not offered new 2023s while Glenn and Novasad pick up offers from everyone as Plan B
- Ceased communication with Julian Sayin

Those two points would point to opposite outcomes. What does that mean? It’s probably legitimately undecided if he’s going to reclassify IMO. It’d also expect whoever is the commit to accompany Carr to not be a Dante Moore or Julian Sayin type. I’m not saying they are “only” gonna land a Angeli type (with the negative connotation some carry that) but it’d be surprise if they double dip the elite unless they land a 2024 kid who rises (ex. if Puglisi is a rankings riser)
