Sampson’s article was excellent (as always) and I was really struck by the degree to which this kid was never going to Michigan. Asked his dad, as a middle schooler, why he never left Ann Arbor? Balls.

Will admit I’ve worried he’d be a flip risk to Michigan eventually but unless he and his whole family are con artists that does not appear to be the case. Only thing that worried me was when he said he’d follow Tommy Rees “anywhere,” tho it is unlikely Rees coaches any other college program between now and Carr’s Signing Day.
I predict he follows Tommy to the NFL

They've reportedly been up front with him about the possibility Rees won't be around by the time he gets to ND.

Correct. There was a quote somewhere where CJ referenced the fact that they had that exact convo. Freeman said something about bringing in a NFL-style OC/QB developer.

Oh I know, was more just mulling other possibilities. Another power program writes a huge check to hire him away as OC next year (unlikely). Or he gets a HC job (not out of the question but unlikely at a program strong enough to interest Carr).
More likely he’s in the NFL or still at Notre Dame when Carr signs on the dotted line.

Joe Brady is currently the QB for the Bills.

I’d call him next season if Tommy moves on.

SIAP, but lots of reclassifying info on The Shamrock. Essentially, CJ can. Depends on him and his family’s comfort level. Guessing the academic meetings (taking place this weekend?) will determine.

CJ should do whatever he wants but would be good to have a sense on reclassifying sooner than later. If not him we will need to recruit somebody at QB in ‘23.

I’d guess QB offers/visits in the next few weeks will tell us what we need to know about CJ and Moore.

Reading the tea leaves from this pod and what Loy has said, we will know his intentions pretty soon

Yes and from Loy's reporting it sounds like we should know after this weekend. Which works well.

Put me in the 'yes please, reclassify' column.
He can red shirt TB's junior year and then you're still starting quarterback for three years.

If Carr decides NOT to reclassify, but admissions doesn't shoot it down, and we can't get any traction with the other '23 QB recruits on our board, maybe we should go after another '24 QB with the intention being they reclassify. Ryan Puglisi is a '24 QB from Avon Old Farms that has connections to ND and seems to have impressed at Irish Invasion. He has had an offer from Ole Miss for a while and just picked up offers from Michigan State and Purdue. I would say Brohm and Kiffin are two pretty good coaches to have wanting you as a QB.

His school is one of those fancy boarding schools, so he should have academics in order so far and the school may be easier to work with to get him the courses he needs.

A Carr re-class and Sayin in '24 would be my #1.

I don't think the Moore headache goes away with a verbal commitment or signed LOI. Just my hunch.
Carr knew ND was the place for him when he was on campus. He felt the call, he got the magic. Cancelled his visits to the South once he knew. Moore didn't get it and probably never will, he was never the guy. Never really struck me as an ND guy. Either way we probably dodged a bullet.

If Buchner is the superstar we all want he'll be gone after 2023. Personally I'd prefer a sophomore Carr with a year under his belt taking the reins than a freshman learning on the fly.
It's all relative. It takes a lot to be a sure fire first or second round draft pick after 2 starting seasons at QB.

I’d love it if Buchner was still the QB when they start off at A&M in 2024.

If not, welcome to big boy college football Mr. Carr.
