Mason? In case anyone was wondering, another Irish site has already broken it down and pinned the blame on one assistant - and the answer may surprise you!

Yeah, that's never good.Another great sign
He is changing his commitment date announcement to a top25 schools recruiting me the hardest and stuff announcementSaw that there was a late Intel piece late last night on IB, anyone want to give a summary of that one?
High level, but one of their staff talked to Scott after his basketball game and confirmed that Scott felt he was rushing his recruitment. He still plans on visiting ND this weekend, but hasn't confirmed with ND staffSaw that there was a late Intel piece late last night on IB, anyone want to give a summary of that one?
Kids should be looking for reasons not to go to a school.Honestly just feels like he’s looking for reasons not to go to ND.
Well said.Kids should be looking for reasons not to go to a school.
If he doesn't look for every reason to go to ND or to not go to ND, how can he make the most informed decision possible?
That's how you feel, and being a fan it is entirely understandable, but that's not what it is in all probability. He's likely as overwhelmed with the entire process to this point as you and many others are frustrated that he has yet to make a non binding public announcement that he's committing to Notre Dame, ultimately meaning zero until he signs an LOI in December. He's living this shit every day, all day and it's far more painstaking that whatever it is you, me and everyone else here feels about it as fans.Honestly just feels like he’s looking for reasons not to go to ND.

Folks, this is a high school junior in Chicago that goes to St. Ignatius. Not Mt. Carmel. Not St. Rita. Not Loyola Academy. Not even Cleveland OH St. Ignatius. This is not a football powerhouse. Rivals lists him currently as the 11th rated overall player in his entire class nationally. They, right now, feel that only 10 high school football players in America are better than he is. He has offers from everywhere, including from the two time defending national champions, and is garnering national recognition and as I understand it, didn't start playing football at all until he was in high school? He could not have had a clue at the start of doubles this past August before the school year where he'd be at headed into February 2023. Their athletic department and administration have likely never had a player remotely close to being this good in the Bush Gore Rivals Scout Internet era. They're all in unchartered waters right now.
My personal take on this centers around two key points: First, I think he is overall a very good prospect and should probably be a very good college player down the line. However, with that being said, I think he's being overrated in many respects on the national level. Every Justin Scott in Illinois probably has 2 or 3 counterparts down in Georgia, Florida and Texas. For any service to say to us that this guy is one of the best dozen players in all of America might be a bit off of the mark. Now do I turn down a high four star player from Chicago who plays DT and really isn't a five star? Absolutely not. I would say to take his current rankings with a grain of salt because the reality is he is very very good but not as good as some of what is being put out there. Often times, I think a lot of schools put out offers in an effort to cover their own asses just so they can go back and say "Yeah, we offered that guy." ND seems to be doing a great job of getting offers out for DL at the moment and I ultimately believe they are going to have a very good DL class come December with or without Scott being a part of it.
Second, we're talking about a verbal commitment here in January, which ultimately doesn't mean anything. Who the hell here needs reminding of THAT? A public verbal on January 31st or any other time really doesn't mean anything unless The Gug has a letter in December with a signature on it. That's it. We can't sit here on one hand and say "Even if he verbals it's going to carry on until December" while we're saying on the other hand "well, he's not making an announcement now and all indications are he was going to announce for ND, so it's not looking good." A verbal now and no signature later is a story we've all seen before. I'd rather this guy do his thing now and sort it out if he's overwhelmed, which it sounds like he genuinely could be, and either sign in December or go somewhere else. Anything that happens right now doesn't mean anything.
The class has a core of kids in it now who are recruiting their peers. More will follow prior to Scott doing whatever it is he does. That aspect of this doesn't concern me. I want ND to get verbals from guys who are absolutely sure and don't want to bother with the bullshit and drama anymore. When they commit, they are shutting it down and sitting around waiting to sign their letter at the end of the year. That's it.
I do not think he is being immature, indecisive or unpredictable. He is just not rushing into a decision and making sure its the right one, I would rather have him take his time and make sure he is making the right decision now than waiting until signing day to decide and undecide and kind of decide again.I’m an optimist but these recruitments rarely work out for ND… seems like the more decisive mature dedicated kids.. almost old for there age… are the ND kids and the indecisive unpredictable kids who are always changing there mind end up elsewhere.. and also lots of times don’t end up being big time college players
It’s actually quite mature of Scott to handle it this way, IMO.I do not think he is being immature, indecisive or unpredictable. He is just not rushing into a decision and making sure its the right one, I would rather have him take his time and make sure he is making the right decision now than waiting until signing day to decide and undecide and kind of decide again.
Yep, and even then who's the LSU? Georgia? Michigan? In my extensive knowledge and recruiting prowess IMO feels kind of like Jagusah, where ND sources feel really good and are waiting for him to pull the trigger with uncertainty on the #2 school. Passes the Mouhamad recruitment test where he's actually been to ND a lot while listing them as a top contender.Outside of the announcement of his commitment and delaying it, a lot of parallels to Christian Gray's recruitment if he ends up choosing ND.
They're few and far between. This must be a clam bake.

What I don’t understand is how it changes from this kid is looking for NIL and ND doesn’t really have a chance to I’m committing and all signs point to ND. I’m glad he’s going to visit now vs. what Bowen and Keeley did.Kids should be looking for reasons not to go to a school.

It just feels to me he put out that commitment stuff to get other schools and teams to be more aggressive and see what he can get from them. I guess that’s his right and should be doing that, but don’t like our chances with a guy if he is primarily NIL as all writers were saying just before these last few weeks.
I haven’t seen or heard that, but big for ND if true.Every writer has also said in the last few weeks that their NIL approach has evolved quite a bit without giving too many details. The main note that seems consistent is that they’ve learned from who they lost and to not expect this one to shake out like that, and that now they have a year of proof of what FUND and NIL looks like at ND. And besides acquisition fees, it looks quite good.
I haven’t seen or heard that, but big for ND if true.
Yes they can. They just need to do the things we want them to do in the timeframe we want them to do them with no room for any grace or understanding that they’re literally just kids.Lol at ND fans:
“I’d rather he take visits before he makes a decision to commit to us but then visit other schools.”
Scott decides to slow down the process and takes visits.
Nd Fans: “He’s so immature! He’s obviously not ND material.”
HS kids can’t catch a break with us it seems.
Again, what you feel is probably not close to reality in this scenario. I continue to see more and more of the ND Twitter bros fully admit they're jaded because of Keeley and Bowen. If that's the bar for the future prospects of that caliber going forward, it's pretty shitty and beyond unfair. These are teenage boys who are essentially commodities, but if every situation suddenly becomes anxiety filled because of two guys from the 2023 cycle that didn't work out, it's bad perspective even if we're only just fans. No coaching staff will ever survive harboring that baggage, I can assure you, and I'm sure they've all moved on.What I don’t understand is how it changes from this kid is looking for NIL and ND doesn’t really have a chance to I’m committing and all signs point to ND. I’m glad he’s going to visit now vs. what Bowen and Keeley did.
