Are there no rules or regulations on NIL? I know nothing about the ins and outs of it. It seems like a terrible idea to throw loads of money to teenagers without any caps or regulations of sort. For the record, I am for NIL, it just seems like a bad idea to not have some sort of oversight to it.

Although I guess you can't argue with what people do with their own $$.

Realistically no because every NIL collective in existence has enough financial resources and sophistication to bury NCAA enforcement.

I am just appalled that the parents have no class...with my twin boys, I teach them to respect your commitments and to treat each other with respect. If they get D1 offers for soccer, they will not be playing this type of BS.

I am not mad at the kid per se, but I blame the parents for this lack of class and for not teaching their son to be respectful. Disgusting...
FWIW, Mom looked positively thrilled when she thought he was putting the ND hat on. And then…

"He clearly would have been a bad fit."

Sorry, but I agree with others that he’s not a great fit. Clearly he wasn’t forthright with the recruits/coaches. It’s different at ND and if it’s about cash (seems to be the case obviously), then it’s fair to assume the fit wouldn’t work. It’s not copium or whatever

There are supposed to be. But in practice, there aren't. Whether it's that places are finding ways around those rules, just ignoring them and daring the NCAA to try to do something about it, or both is probably irrelevant. But my money would be on both.

He should've decommitted over the summer and opened things up. Just a poorly handled recruitment.
Not if his goal was to get paid as much as conceivably possible. Unfortunately this may set a bad precedent going forward. He wouldn't have gotten nearly as much if he'd been committed to Oregon for 6 months or even uncomitted.

We’ll be fine. This is the game right now but it’s not sustainable, not even for Oregon. And we have a lot of good football players who chose Notre Dame for the right reasons. Celebrate them.

As for Bowen, I just kinda feel bad for the kid for handling the biggest moment of his young life in such a classless fashion.

The new (commit for) 4 (months) for 40 years.

I personally don’t choose to verbally trash a kid … however …

The minute the NCAA decided to turn this into a straight up business for these “kids”, the rest comes with it. You want to make business decisions and deceive others like this, you take what comes with it.
