If one truly didn't know any better, they'd just assume ND not sign Minchey so they had that reason to complain.

You say this sarcastically but a poster suggested this just days ago. That Rees should be stripped of his right to sign a QB this cycle

Not that it means much, but it seems like some folks have an incredibly odd way of showing it. I mean, in the next breath you make the remark about him being the "6th option." So while you say you're happy, the vibe just feels sorta somewhere else. You're not alone though, and I think I'm picking up what you're putting down ultimately.

The 6th option is a high four star QB they're flipping from an ACC Power Five rival. I don't know what's more convenient, saying Minchey is their 6th option, or how a few people are casually dropping the second half of the Navy game into recruiting related discussions, where again, you're not the only one. The lines with this guy are completely blurred for so many ND fans at this point.

It is probably worth reminding people, again, that the guy who supposedly couldn't recruit and always fucks it up is on the cusp of flipping a high four star QB where they said to likely wind up empty in this class. Somehow, someway, little to no credit is being given and feet are planted firmly. So be it. This had to be done, they had until February to do it and it appears it's in motion to happen. Be that as it may, some folks are popping off on TR regardless of the positive impact this potential and likely signing is going to have on the class and the program moving ahead.

Objectively, there are clearly areas for improvement for Rees in every aspect of his job, but to see how this recent development and the news therein is being met by the contingent of people who have their minds made up that he's the football anti christ is pretty telling. If one truly didn't know any better, they'd just assume ND not sign Minchey so they had that reason to complain.

Levels of "cutting my nose to spite my face" that make me question fandom. If someone is truly that jaded, why bother?

Just watched the highlights from his JR year:

Throws a pretty accurate deep ball based on his highlights.
Arm strength....decent, but I wouldn't say it's elite.
Didn't look to run much so he'll fit in fine with what we've had at QB the last two years (I miss Ian Book)
Competition level didn't look to be elite either.
thought based on highlights he anticipates pretty well, which helps his ball placement.

Just my 2 cents worth less than that I'm sure.

Finally checked out his Hudl. Have to say I'm Impressed with how easily the ball comes out for him. I know we're not fans of messing with mechanics, but I can help but feel that he could drastically improve his arm strength if he didn't short-arm the ball.

He tends to throw off his front foot.

I just want a 6-5+ QB, 1 star or whatever, just someone tall AF. (90% kidding)

Sorry if already mentioned, but is this kid a silent or something? I've noticed a lot of staff writers speaking on podcasts as if ND has already landed his commitment. Which I found odd, because they're usually more careful about that kind of stuff (Prister, specifically).

Decommitting from Pitt was essentially his commitment. He visited once in summer '21 so he's been to campus. He isn't going to visit anywhere else. He's an EE. Just no time for it to be really anything else.

I understand the circumstances warrant such assumptions. I just found it odd that everyone is speaking as if this is a done deal (again, many of whom are usually more careful with their words).

People hate him, but Driskall and Roberts had a good breakdown of him. Essentially, he grew up as a huge ND fan. Committed to Pitt a while back and did not want to go back on his word. Over time, he realized that ND offered him things Pitt could not (including a better OL and weapons). Made the decision to decommit

Because they try to shit on guys in their industry who are much more respected and have been doing this for a long time.

Not a good idea, especially for Ryan since he’s young and new, if they want to become something in that industry.

Do we really want a QB that people hate? Let's get someone we can all like!

Listening to Prister on the recent II podcast. When talking about Minchey, he’s speaking in absolutes. Yes I know the Irish odds are strong, but I’ve never heard someone talk like that about an uncommitted player.

Pretty sure Prister did that about a d-line recruit a couple of years ago too. Needless to say he did not commit to ND. Makes me cringe a little when he speaks in absolutes like that because, well, we’ve been bitten before

And it sounded like O’Malley had never done a film review before. Weird segment all around.
